As the creator of the trope, I've decided that it should be renamed Barefoot Cartoon Animal to conform with Fully-Dressed Cartoon Animal, Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal and Accessory-Wearing Cartoon Animal. Still, I should probably get some feedback before I do anything. Comments, anyone?

This trope is quite healthy with 200 wicks. Unless there is a real problem with the name, changing this amount of wicks is to much work. If you want to invest that much time in a wick change I suggest finding a broken trope.

[up] Thanks for your concern, but I spend half my time on TV Tropes doing namespace changes, so this would be no problem for me. Also, I just renamed Outer Limits Twist to Cruel Twist Ending (and changed all the wicks), so I've already repaired at least one broken trope.

It's not only a matter of work. To prevent confusion due to constant names change TRS has a policy of not changing working names. So you have to prove misuse to get people to agree on a change. Even as a trope creator you have no right to decide a new name on your own. Name changes need to be decided by the community of tropers.

I agree that a name change shouldn't be done lightly, but in this case, Funny Animal is a specific type of animal character:

"They're animals who think, talk and act mostly like human beings. Unlike the Speech Impaired Animal or Talking Animal (whose priorities and motivations are still that of an animal despite their ability to speak), the Funny Animal has almost all the mannerisms of a human being; only his appearance distinguishes him from the hairless primates who draw him."

and not all Barefoot animals are Funny Animals. Barefoot Cartoon Animal would be clearer.

I support the change.

I like it. It goes nicely with the other animal clothing names. I fully support changing it.

Thanks for your support, Madrugada and The Gunheart. But how will we know when we have enough of a consensus to make the change (or not)? Should we put it to a vote?

Okay, so three days have passed and no one's said anything. Unless there are any last minute objections, I'm planning to make the change tomorrow.
