I actually like Alien vs. Predator (I don't hate Paul W.S. Anderson as much as other people and actually enjoy most of his films) and despite the PG-13 rating, still managed to get away with some things (I'm still trying to figure out how the MPAA didn't order the chestburster coming out from a person's heart cut). But Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, that was awful.
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/Prometheus looks pretty promising so far. It appears to be focusing on atmosphere and character-development, much of what the original thrived upon. With such a fantastic cast at his disposal and being well within his comfort zone, this will, hopefully, be a return to form for Ridley.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.Alien is in my top 5 fave films, and Aliens is still pretty awesome. Haven't seen 3 yet, but I plan to catch it on IFC next month. Anyway, trailer looks gorgeous. I'm pumped.
"Why oh why did you have to post such a tempting link?"
I'm bustin' chops. *Rimshot*

"I'm the Avatar! You gotta deal with it!"I like AvP, too. Practical effects, baby.
By that logic, I should enjoy Resurrection, but despite some fresh ideas, it didn't improve on Ā³.
I'm a skeptical squirrelI thought there were a couple good ideas in both Av P films, but neither of them were very good.
I wonder what Prometheus will be rated? This is just a guess, but it looks like some rather unpleasant things happen to the characters in it.
Confirmed presence of Space Jockeys
It really was kind of a given, though.
A fistful of me.Alien 3 ruined the end of Aliens, the best in the series.
(btw, what was that weird thing full of maggots, Ripley smashed open?) & how could the alien take hot lead contacting it? wouldn't it roast internally?
Resurrection had the Hell Boy acting Crazy Awesome & Dan Hedaya 's body hair. Plus cute & insane Wynonna Ryder & the Prince Of Tgieves Guy of Gisborn
Did NOT need to see the Newborn, the ultimate embodiment of High Octane Nightmare Fuel, Fridge Horror & Squick in the series.
Classic alien was about perfect as a horror film though [spoiler:]Lambert's weird screams in her last scene were Nightmare Retardant. Plus she & the Black Dude are Too Dumb to Live
But yeah, telling more about the space jockeys does ruin the mystery, no matter how good the film is.
Slaying all enemies in the Name of the Goddess of the Force! The thing Ripley smashed open that was full of maggots was a pipe.
Not to mention Parker, Lambert and Ripley decided to finally get the fuck out of there after Dallas dies. Not really Too Dumb to Live.

Lambert was petrified. It's something that happens in real life; sometimes, you just are unable to move or act when under great stress and fear.
Love the reappearance of the space jockeys. However, I'm also worried about it ruining the mystique of the original Alien.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Peter Weyland is awesome.
A trailer. For a trailer.
I believe they're called teaser trailers.
"Yo dawg I heard you like trailers..."
Hang on. I just watched a trailer-trailer, right?
Eagerly waiting for the first parody...
Seriously, that trailer is no different from a teaser, and those have been around for ages.
It is much more blatant than a teaser though.
Apparently there's a longer 2,5 min. cut due on monday.
Full trailer.
That creature Fassbender pulls out of that pod looks quite like a Half-Life barnacle.
So, this IS a prequel to Alien right?
I've seen stuff that indicates that it isn't and, while it doesn't really matter, I'd like to know which way its going.
Its going to be great regardless.
I just want to know a little of what to expect.
It's a prequel to Alien, but the aliens themselves won't show up. The Space Jockies will, apparently.
Possibly because I grew up with them, I still respect ALIENĀ³ and ALIEN: RESURRECTION as valid, yet thoroughly imperfect installments. Both have excellent art direction, and strong cinematography, and each have appropriate touches from their respective directors. That's not to say that I don't loathe the idea of watching either of them (even the ALIENĀ³ Assembly Cut, though improved in the character development department, does so at the expense of the Alien itself having a palpable presence in the film), but that when it comes to including either of them in my own personal fanon, I have no qualms.
The AvP films, on the other hand, are turgid wastes.
Can't wait for Prometheus, though. That trailer looks boss.
