My opinion on Visual Pun pictures is almost always going to be Keep Until Better Image Suggestion, and this is no exception.
That said, I think this, unlike, say, Flying Brick, is one case where we can find a better suggestion. I'm dubious about that one, though.
Elements... hmm, my mind instantly jumps to Captain Planet but I'll check through the examples of the page and have a root around from there.
Avatar The Last Airbender? My impression is that everybody wears color-coded clothes to designate their ethnicity. Or something.
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.Yeah, it's an elemental thing, not sure why Air Nomads get orange but that's someplace else. Thinking a teeny bit harder, name a Pokemon game and take the three base pokemon you can get when starting.
Might need to mix and match a little between games but I feel you could get a nice collage going.
Something from Magic Knight Rayearth might be clearer.
Dramaturg, troper, theatre reviewer. (Please hire me.)Normally I'd go Keep Until Better Image Suggested, but that's quite a bad image. I say pull.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.Man messy with Elemental Eye Colors and those such tropes but hmm... This? their elements are color coded with their outfits, hair and eye colors.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Eevee evolutions◊, perhaps?
Belief or disbelief rests with you.Hmm, I do like the added Punny Name aspect of the Eeveelutions.
Rhymes with "Protracted."The pictures also need to show elements at work.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. It's evident in the character designs, no?

Rhymes with "Protracted."Of four of them maybe but not for the others. I'd like to see the elements in action over just having them be elemental embodiments (which of course is another trope).

How? It just shows different forms of different colors. There is no indication otherwise of any other difference, especially not those related to elements. For all we know, they could be different abilities unrelated to elements.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. At the very least the one with the fish tail is obviously the water element, and the one with a leaf tail is the plant element. I think the fire and electric ones are also pretty clear. The others aren't as intuitive, but if we just included the more obvious ones it could work.
Reaction Image RepositoryWell, I played with it some(the full image won't resize too well unless somebody wants to redo the typesetting):
EDIT: Mentioning the need to fiddle with the text gave me a better idea. No such luck for the caption, though.

Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - CamacanI prefer the Disgaea one because it's more about the color than the character designs.
I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn!Hm, that is a point. I too would like something more color than design oriented.
Fight smart, not fair.Good point, that would show the trope better.
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere. Then how about either of these:
All these are definitely good candidates, but not as good as the Disgaea one. That one's purely colour-coded, as in, change the hair colour, change the dress = different element!
I suggest cutting out the "star" one though.

The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.Still more shapes than colors.
But then again, that and the Pokemon suggestion do indicate there would be a trope for elemental based biology (but not being outright made of the element, like Elemental Embodiment).
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I don't find it obvious what elements the white and orange ones are. And I think an example that relies only on color, not shape, is better.

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.Yeah that isn't really illustrating the trope... Hmm maybe if we could find a screen of Chrono Cross's elements or elements screen, all the elements are color coded White, Blue, Green, Yellow, Red, Black.
Hell Magic The Gathering.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Magic's colors don't directly correspond with elements, though. Not only are some colors associated with several elements, black and white are barely associated with elements at all, and some elements are associated with multiple colors. The primary color associations are with other things like card mechanics.
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.
Crown Description:
Page image for Color Coded Elements.
The current image is one of those "Ha, ha. It's not actually an example" pictures. Those are funny at the expense of clarity.
The Disgaea games do this trope well, as their magic users are color coded in their clothing, as well as their spells.
Now the reason this suggestion is preliminary is that it's small, doesn't look that good against all white (so needs a background), and the magic effects are actually from Final Fantasy VI (I couldn't find sprites of the Disgaea spell effects). So if anyone can get better picture elements to add to this, please do so.
