Yeah, no, you're thinking of a People's Republic.

Democracy is generally defined as a form of government in which all the people have an equal say in the decisions that affect their lives.

A republic is a country with a specific form of government, in which the people, or some significant portion of them, have supreme control over the government and where offices of state are not granted primarily based upon family, military, or business connections.

Combine them together, and you get a system where, in theory, all people have the right to elect representatives which then make decisions based on these voters' will.

I don't think there is any real democracy anywhere, maybe perhaps Switzerland tough I am not sure. Representive democracy is the most widespread democratic form we got.

Putin is a Judo blackbelt, isn't he? I think a one-on-one hand-to-hand fight between these two would be right-quick.

USAF@But still if Mc Cain was in his prime then it could be more of a fair fight but like I said he wont trust any of those Dirty Russians.

USAF@I was being sarcastic about the Dirty Commies=Dirty Russians thing because I was making a point that Mr.Mc Cain still needs to get his head out of the Cold War.

@Mandemo: Iceland, Switzerland, Denmark and the Netherlands could be described as real democracies... To an extent.

Tom, Putin would destroy you with a look..

He is the future God Emperor after all, and even America cannot stand in the way of true progress towards the establishment of the Imperium.

"Dictator" is a blanket term for anyone we don't like, yes?

[up] Basically yes. Saakashvili of Georgia is a dictator, but he we refer to as "President". Same with Musharraf of Pakistan when he was running things. Dude was a military dictator with his uniform still on, but even then we only ever referred to him as "President".

Impaling someone with the US flag...

No wonder we have a bad image abroad...

In One hand you have Putin feeding baby mouses... and on the other hand you have Sarah Palin shooting at wolfs from helicopters...

And that is why I think there is something alitle bit off in the Republican Party...

[up][up]It's not only what they actually do. It's also about how they want to present themselves, what actions they think people will view favourably. I know they're all just political maneuvers, but Putins actions are geared towards Badass who regularly pets dogs. Palins actions make her come across as a Blood Knight with more shooting than petting.

lol on you, americans. I live in Russia, work here and let me explain something.

There is one thing you need to know about russian government. Dont trust them. This is what parents teach their children here. Everything Putin/Medvedev/government/United Russia/officials say is a lie. Even if they say something that is truth... People laugh on them. Everything you, stupid foreigners know about Russia is basically an image created by propaganda machine.

Rating of Putin is 35% at best. People really hate him and his pet Medvedev. Situation in Russia is near critical. Economy is failing, technological accidents happen all the time, people become more and more poor. Opposition in country is banned or killed. Corruption is ridiculous high. Nazism and extremist beliefs are rising. And Putin... He is a major who served in East Germany. That is it. He is not a "James Bond", superspy. Just another petty authoritan rat. he is like Lukashenko or Middle-Asia dictators.

But you, americans and europeans will NEVER know about this. Continue to believe in what Putin says even if russians themselves are rioting against Putin and his servants. Good job.

Oh, and I like how stupid PR things like flying in plane or hunting whales have such an impact on you.
