Nope, still ongoing. New episode tonight, but I was glued to my laptop at the time and only got a few snippets of what was going on.
Carter's love interest, the guy involved with HR, got killed.
Somehow you know that the time is right.Well, ouch. That had to hurt!
When I think about this show, I try to line up a number of details and questions, because this show has loads of them.
- Cal Beecher had said that his Confidential Informant had singled out Szymanski. Could the CI be none other than HR boss Alonzo Quinn?
- Fusco had been told by Simmons to get a page from the ledger of HR. Did he remember to keep track of the names from that page?
- Why didn't the Machine bring up Szymanski and that Assistant District Attorney's numbers? Their lives were in danger the minute they went to Alonzo Quinn of all people for help.
Oh, yeah, and I hear that Person of Interest has been renewed for a third season. That makes me wonder if the second season is going to end on a Wham Episode or not.
Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!I haven't seen the latest episode yet, so I can't contribute on that front. But considering it's Person of Interest the second season will most likely end with an Wham Episode. The show seems to be very fond of those.

The Machine did give Szymansky's number if I well recall [or the number of someone connected to him].
In any case, we can chalk it up to The Virus messing up with The Machine's systems.
I was noticing how this show has a huge amount of chessmasters. From Mr. Evil Brit in a suit, to HR Boss, to Eliast, to Finch...

"All you Fascists bound to lose."Don't forget Root!
Oh, yeah, can't forget about her. That is one scary woman! <Creeped out>
So the last three episodes of this season air on April 25, 2013, May 2, 2013 and May 9, 2013. I've had a big question occur to me. You know how Evil Brit Greer has a countdown for some malware activating? My question is are they are airing the episodes on these dates to try to make the countdown feel like it's occurring in Real Time?
Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!I caught this week's episode. Is that a Wham Episode? I think it is.
Poor Lionel Fusco. He is at least The Woobie. I thought his goose was thoroughly cooked. Luckily, some intervention saved his rear...for now.
I wonder what Carter is doing with Bear. Does she feel that something bad is going to happen to her, and she wants some form of backup when it does?
Oh, but here's the real wham part... the countdown on the malware finally hit zero. It apparently corrupts the signal of The Machine and seems to effectively shut the entire thing down. That is so not good news.
The next episode preview indicates that Finch and Reese have to find a way to fix this problem with The Machine, and the only person they can turn to for help on this matter is...Root?!
Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!If you watch Bear's paws closely as he and Carter leave the station, you can see he's tracking mud everywhere. The implication being it was Carter who dug the body back up and hid it to save Fusco.
Why is 2009 so dark?
Am I a good man or a bad man? That's an interesting question. Maybe it's to set a Darker and Edgier tone to what happened at that point. Either that, or The Machine was going through something that year.
I don't know about you, but I get the impression that the Chinese are considered Acceptable Targets in this show. I mean, in one episode, they infiltrate one company and apparently are trying to spy on the entire USA. I know that in Real Life, the Chinese have been caught in the act of spying on Canada, but this is cranking it up to a higher degree, isn't it?
Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee! Both China and the US (and probably others) look like they're being set up by whatever 'New Gods' Greer (English guy who hired Stanton after the Ordos incident in "Matsya Nyaya") is working for/with. Emerging systems are building themselves up by exploiting the older ones.
To the same degree that everything else has been cranked up to, I guess. The CIA hasn't exactly come off well in this show, and I highly doubt that, if the Intelligence Support Activity has direct action teams, the organization is in the habit of icing their own operators should those operators learn too much.
The PRC is known to conduct cyberwarfare on western powers, and they are most definitely spying on us (since we can safely assume that the Ministry of State Security is not braindead). Murdering the opposition is another thing entirely (it's impolite, plus it invites retribution) but that there are Chinese spooks on American soil isn't a surprise, it's a no-brainer.
Well, at least the show plays with the trope CIA Evil, FBI Good, rather than just playing it straight. When two groups are presented in a black and white fashion, that's just begging to be parodied.
I bet Person of Interest is going to be on the Banned in China list...if it hasn't already!
Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!Since when has the CIA ever been portrayed as anything decent? All of the CIA officers on the show are Reese, or completely morally bankrupt.
Oh, oops. Maybe I should have said that the FBI seems to be portrayed as "gray" in this show.
I wonder who Greer is working for? I'm not entirely sure the malware for The Machine is his idea or for...whoever is behind him. <Raises eyebrow>
Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!Holy horse apples! Did you see last night's episode? I certainly did.
I never imagined that the malware Decima-Tech put into The Machine was supposed to cause it to crash, then reboot itself, and whoever answers it by payphone supposedly gets free rein over The Machine. The idea of Decima-Tech getting their hands on it is Nightmare Fuel to say the least. So is the idea of Root getting her hands on it.
Boy, cops in this show have bad stuff just fall on them. First, Cal Beecher had Internal Affairs investigating him. Then Fusco had them investigating him. Now Carter is being investigated by them. I thought that Terney guy was going to kill her off right then and there. But I guess HR had something different in mind for her.
Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!Haha! So the virus is supposed to let Evil Old Brit Guy & friends destroy and then control the Machine. i kinda sorta called it woo
Don't forget the backstory with Finch and Ingram. Also the ISA's shady supervisors in the government now know there are active threats to the Program. This could be fun.
I'll bet that Carter and co. are forced to take down HR and the Russians by giving Elias Quinn's identity as HR head and setting him loose on the streets once again.

Just saw the season finale.
I'll let the info percolate a bit, but I will say one thing:
Finch, you Magnificent Bastard.
Amen to that who knows what next season has in store.
That, basically.
Well, it only took two seasons, but we finally know where Finch got his back injury! Maybe another two will give us his name.

Somehow you know that the time is right.I wish I could get a slightly lighter shot that brings out her facial expression while also keeping the phone. But it's still awesome.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.Yeah, if that wasn't a Wham Episode, then nothing is!
So out of the original group who were supposed to know about The Machine's existence, only Hersh and Control are left standing. Then you have Harold Finch, John Reese, Root, Samantha Shaw, and that NSA guy Henry Peck. Did I miss anyone who found out about The Machine's existence?
Carter is in a bit of a mess. She now knows that Jerkass Raymond Terney is an HR member. She takes it upon herself to rescue Elias himself from being murdered by HR. Isn't that ironic? What is she going to do next?
Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!
Has this show finished its season's run in the States yet?
