A Game of Gods: Taskforce Sifuri

Go To

Long ago, an ancient superweapon, capable of shaping worlds, changing the laws of physics, and even influencing life and death, was lost. It was another casualty of a world-shattering war, that saw the deployment of indescribable horrors and carnage on a galactic scale. Its name was Sifuri, and, as the ashes settled on the remains of cities and combatants, it was decided that some things were best forgotten, and Sifuri faded from memory as its creators set about rebuilding and reconstuituting all that had turned to ashes. For billions of years, Sifuri lay abandoned and alone on a distant world, safely out of the ands of its creators and never to be used again.

But now, things are beginning to change. The embers of war are begining to stir. A powerful force looms on the horizon, and Sifuri may be all that stands between it and the destruction of its creators. Two criminals, seeking to atone for their misdeeds, assemble two competing teams- one based around the supernatural, the the other around the scientific- to recover the artefact. It will be a long and perilous quest across the multiverse to recover Sifuri... but will the forces of magic or science prevail?

Hello once more, and welcome to the signup thread for A Game Of Gods: Taskforce Sifuri. Now, the first thing that you're probably wondering is why exactly we need another spinoff. The answer is that this was initially going to be a plot in the current Infinities game, but due to my worry that the mini-epic would would take too long, I decided to spin it off into its own game. That said, this game is extremely close to Infinities, moreso than TOTG was to the original AGOG. Because of that, there will be several crossovers between the two. Besides that, all the same rules in AGOG, and general RPing etiquette should apply.

Signups

Naturally, the biggest 'gimmick', so to speak, of this RP is the fact that characters who have science-based powers are pitted against those who have magic based powers. I'm really hoping for even teams for this, so if we have too many people on one side than some people may be given control of a second character for the opposite team. Characters who use both magic and science, such as Magitek, will be admitted on a case-by-case basis.

  • Name: (self-explanatory)
  • Universe: (series they come from)
  • Background: (brief bio of their past, motivations, etc.)
  • Powers: (What they can do- keep it between 1-3 on the Super Weight scale)
  • Personality: (Also self-explanatory).

The game itself may not open for a while, so don't hold your breath. This is a way of seeing how may people want to sign up.

Last shot at un-life.

Kharak Steriel (Magic)

A Dark Eldar Helliarch brought back as a jiangshi by Seiga and made her extremely reluctant servant.

  • Appearance: Dark Eldar are narrow-faced, elongated humanoids with pointy ears, pale skin and black eyes and hair, along with a permanent expression of distate. Kharak also has numerous scars due to having been tortured to death and stitched up by Seiga.
  • Powers: Flight (can fly both with and without his skyboard, though slower without), danmaku (shoot projectiles in more or less random patterns), can eat souls, better-than-human reflexes, slight pain resistance due to being undead, lacks most of his internal organs, can be detonated by Seiga whenever she feels like it, ego the size of a blimp.
  • Weapons: A skyboard (sharpened Hover Board with splinter cannons), bladed armor and a two-headed Blade On A Stick.
  • Personality: Like all Dark Eldar, thinks himself the single most dangerous creature in the galaxy. Unable to go against Seiga's orders (and resents it), and while he is careful not to antagonize those visibly stronger than him (for now...), looks down on those he deems inferior.

I've got a quick for Stratofarius: Now, there's a character I'd like to put forward for team magic. The only issue is that he's from a concept album and thus his powers and abilities aren't exactly well documented. Would it be an issue if I attempted to come up with a reasonable approximation of what he would be able to do?

[up] No, go ahead.

[up][up] I have no problem with it, but are you really going to use your Team Magic spot to play as someone else's mook? I mean, Kharak's defining trait on the challenge was 'under Seiga's control' and everything else spawned from that, so he's a certifiable, 100%, guaranteed mook.

Also understand that apart from a few things I like for stuff from the challenges to be restricted to the challenges, so, it's gonna have to be some really damn good R Ping to convince me that this is worth it.

  • Name: Angus McFife
  • Universe: Gloryhammer's Tales of the Kingdom of Fife .
  • Appearance: Like so. Without helmet
  • Background: Fair warning, this is going to sound fairly ridiculous After the city of Dundee was invaded by the mighty sorcerer Zargothrax and his army of undead unicorns (no, really), Crown Prince Angus McFife was forced to flee and exact his vengeance at a later time. Once he had safely retreated, McFife began a quest for the legendary Hammer of Glory. After fighting his way through many goblins and trolls, Angus finally managed to acquire the mighty hammer and began gathering a mighty army to his cause. After allying himself with the mighty Knights of Crail, a Magic Dragon, the fearsome Hootsman and finding the powerful Amulet of Justice, Angus began his march on Dundee to reclaim the city and take back his throne.
  • Powers:
    • McFife possesses the Hammer of Glory, a mighty warhammer that crackles with mystic energies. Overall the hammer is a fairly simple affair and does enhanced amounts of damage to those who would do harm to the Kingdom of Fife and its people.
    • The Amulet of Justice allows its owner to release individuals from spells of binding and forced servitude. It also glows faintly when in the presence of such spells.
    • Angus is a fairly capable warrior and can hold his ground against all but the most talented warriors.
  • Personality: Angus McFife is chivalrous to near-insane levels. He refuses to lie, will not fight an opponent that is unarmed or physically weaker than him and will go out of his way to help those in need no matter what the situation is. Despite these relatively positive traits, Angus will go out of his way to hunt down any evildoers he sees and will stop at nothing until justice is served.
  • Team: Magic

[up] Here's a problem:

does enhanced amounts of damage to those who would do harm to the Kingdom of Fife and its citizens.

No one in the RP would fit this category, so you have a pretty normal hammer (unless Angus is considered a citizen of Fife).

The Amulet of Justice allows its owner to release innocents from spells of binding and forced servitude.

And not only is this highly specific, but how does the Amulet know who is innocent?

Just those two comments, otherwise everything is fine.

[up]Alright, I suppose the better wording for the Amulet would be "The Amulet of Justice allows its owner to release individuals from spells of binding and forced servitude."

And yes, McFife would be considered a citizen of Fife. Gonna edit those descriptions real quick.

[up][up][up]I'll chime in, and say that just because he's Seiga's mook, doesn't mean he isn't a character worth RP'ing.

If you mean mook as in "open to all attacks including mind control", that's not much of a problem. Mostly he's going as meat shield.

[up][up] I'm not implying that, I'm talking about the fact that he won't be at the same power level as the Seekers and won't be considered one. For example, in the Marvel/DC challenge, he won't get any superpowers. He'll be in the same level as the Fuzzles in Infinities (and it just so happens they're dead, but the example counts).

By all accounts, he shouldn't even be able to go into other challenges (or even leave his own challenge) as he is not a Seeker, and those portals are for Seekers. Like I said, it'll have to be pretty damn good to convince having a part of a challenge stick around.

Well yeah. He's just a construct that happens to have a personality, I'm not asking that he gets powers or the Seekers' upgrades.

In the end, the other GM said no. It'd basically be another Fuzzle hanging out on the base, and we don't want that. Plus, like I said, it's preferrable to keep stuff from the challenge in the challenge.

  • Bio
  • Background: "Daughter" of Zeus and archeologist Helena Sandsmark. While her true origins hasn't been revealed in canon Cassie is an average girl except for the fact that she was granted her powers by his father Zeus. Under the permission of her mother she is a superhero under the permission of her mother and under the tutelage of her mentor Wonder Woman. She is currently a member of "the team" a secret superhero group of young heroes.

Powers:

  • Tougher than an average human but she has a vulnerability to piercing objects, being somewhat more vulnerable to piercing objects (she uses bracelets to block bullets).
  • Faster than any animal on earth
  • Super strength (strong enough to lift 3 average cars at most)
  • Super durability (the same as Loki)
  • Flight
  • Superhuman reflexes
  • Expert hand-to-hand combatant

  • Abilities

    • As an Amazon, Diana has been trained in all forms of ancient combat and she is a master using the bow, the sword and of course her lasso of truth.

  • Equipment:

    • Lasso truth: ("Borrowed from WM") compels anyone to tell the truth.
    • Silver bracelets: Mainly used as a shield to block most kinds of attacks
    • Shield,Bow and sword: As Wonder Woman's sidekick she has been trained in the use of ancient weapons.
    • Stealth-Tech: By pressing the W's on her costume, she is able to activate her stealth tech.

  • Personality:
She can be described as a tough opiniated and immature girl ,that is nonetheless eager to do the right thing, despite her lack of maturity and experience that her mentor Wonder woman lacks. While finesse and stealth are her weakest skills she is nonetheless a brave fighter that enjoys a good fight and a big challenge to the point she loves fighting stronger opponents as she is not the "give up" type.

Magics ho!

  • Name: Kotarō Fūma.
  • Universe: Samurai Warriors 2 after his story.
  • Appearance: Tall Dark and Handsome anyone?
  • Background: Kotarō is the enigmatic leader of the Fūma ninjas, serving the Hōjō clan of Sagami province. At the bidding of his masters, he killed Takeda Shingen and forced the Tokugawa to serve the Hōjō. When he heard about Nobunaga's moniker “Demon King”, he went and disrupted his activities at Ōsaka Bay as he thought the Oda daimyō was demeaning the name. When Nobunaga is killed in Honnōji and power shifts to the Toyotomi clan, the Hōjō lay siege to Ōsaka castle; Kotarō challenges Hattori Hanzō, Tokugawa Ieyasu's ninja, to contest, with the Tokugawa's freedom at the stake. Hanzō loses and the Tokugawa remain enslaved to the Hōjō.
With Hideyoshi dead, the Hōjō rule the land, bringing an era of peace. Extremely bored, Kotarō assassinates the Hōjō leaders and decides to unify Japan by himself. Crushing the southern island of Kyūshū, Kotarō becomes the undisputed ruler of the land. However, he disappears shortly afterwards, leaving the land in Ieyasu's hands.
  • Powers:
    • Kotarō can stretch his arms like rubber and twist them in unnatural angles. They remain strong, however.
    • Kotarō is a master of Genjutsu — illusion magic — mainly using it to create doubles of himself. While they hit just as hard as he does, they disappear when struck.
    • Kotarō can shoot purple energy blasts out of his hands.
    • Kotarō is a master ninja (albeit a Highly Visible one) and a master in hand-to-hand combat as well as in using his clawed gauntlets to great effect.
    • Kotarō is effectively ageless.
  • Personality: Kotarō hates peace and order. He sees bringing chaos to the world as his raison d'etre. Vastly enjoying his chosen role, he sees others as pawns in his convoluted designs to further chaos in the land. He is also immensely fascinated with death, radiating immense killing intent. He has a cynical, sarcastic sense of humour and tends to deride others for their perceived flaws. He's also as trustworthy as a lawyer, betraying those he serves at the slightest whim.
