A Game of Gods: Taskforce Sifuri

Go To

Long ago, an ancient superweapon, capable of shaping worlds, changing the laws of physics, and even influencing life and death, was lost. It was another casualty of a world-shattering war, that saw the deployment of indescribable horrors and carnage on a galactic scale. Its name was Sifuri, and, as the ashes settled on the remains of cities and combatants, it was decided that some things were best forgotten, and Sifuri faded from memory as its creators set about rebuilding and reconstuituting all that had turned to ashes. For billions of years, Sifuri lay abandoned and alone on a distant world, safely out of the ands of its creators and never to be used again.

But now, things are beginning to change. The embers of war are begining to stir. A powerful force looms on the horizon, and Sifuri may be all that stands between it and the destruction of its creators. Two criminals, seeking to atone for their misdeeds, assemble two competing teams- one based around the supernatural, the the other around the scientific- to recover the artefact. It will be a long and perilous quest across the multiverse to recover Sifuri... but will the forces of magic or science prevail?

Hello once more, and welcome to the signup thread for A Game Of Gods: Taskforce Sifuri. Now, the first thing that you're probably wondering is why exactly we need another spinoff. The answer is that this was initially going to be a plot in the current Infinities game, but due to my worry that the mini-epic would would take too long, I decided to spin it off into its own game. That said, this game is extremely close to Infinities, moreso than TOTG was to the original AGOG. Because of that, there will be several crossovers between the two. Besides that, all the same rules in AGOG, and general RPing etiquette should apply.

Signups

Naturally, the biggest 'gimmick', so to speak, of this RP is the fact that characters who have science-based powers are pitted against those who have magic based powers. I'm really hoping for even teams for this, so if we have too many people on one side than some people may be given control of a second character for the opposite team. Characters who use both magic and science, such as Magitek, will be admitted on a case-by-case basis.

  • Name: (self-explanatory)
  • Universe: (series they come from)
  • Background: (brief bio of their past, motivations, etc.)
  • Powers: (What they can do- keep it between 1-3 on the Super Weight scale)
  • Personality: (Also self-explanatory).

The game itself may not open for a while, so don't hold your breath. This is a way of seeing how may people want to sign up.

I would like to swap TBG to Vel'Koz on Team Magic.

  • Name: Vel'Koz
  • Universe: League Of Legends
  • Background: In the beginning, Vel'Koz was born into the Void. A place where all creatures seek only to consume. He was no different, but for Vel'Koz Consumption led to a different means and ends. Rather than consume only to consume and in result gain power, Vel'Koz consumes others for Knowledge. Knowledge is the greatest resource, the ultimate power and the more you have, the more powerful you are. However, staying in the Void for a long time, Vel'Koz grew bored. Consuming other Voidborn became less and less profitable. So he sought to escape to the world of Valoran, where he had heard that Cho'gath and Kog'Maw had gone. Those two were mindless like other Voidborn, but they weren't wrong about going into that world. New Knowledge from a world unlike the Void, a world bathed in Light half the time. On his arrival, Vel'Koz found a tower containing artifacts that had concepts of time in their construction. Some existed in multiple points in time at once. Surely, their creator held the knowledge of not only what has long past but of what is yet to pass. Vel'Koz sought out this man, which led him to joining the League of Legends so that he might have a chance to extract the knowledge from him.
  • Powers:
    • The Voidborn: Being a Voidborn, Vel'Koz has exceptional strength, agility, and toughness. He can float through the air without difficulty and has great regenerative abilities able to regrow damaged or removed limbs or organs.
      • The Burning Light: As all Voidborn, Light constantly burns his body. His regeneration is such that he can live indefinitely in Valoran, just that his body regenerates more slowly in the Light. He also has a very high tolerance pain, shown by his ability to shrug off the agony of the Light.
    • Void Magic: Vel'Koz has a number of spells at his disposal to fight.
      • Lightning: Vel'Koz's tentacles, besides being strong and sharp pokers, can each be charged with lightning, using two or three of them to create arcs to strike distant enemies.
      • Plasma Fission: Vel shoots twin blasts of energy spirally around each-other. When they strike a target or as Vel'Koz will's, they split apart and move in opposite perpendicular directions from where they were moving towards.
      • Void Rift: Vel'Koz can hit the ground with a wave of energy and open a partial Rift to the Void. As it is incomplete, the Rift will force itself closed after a couple seconds creating a burst of energy.
      • Tectonic Disruption: Vel'Koz tosses an anomaly that sinks into the ground that grows exponetially. After a few moments, the energy bursts out from the ground towards the sky.
      • Disintegration Ray: Vel'Koz can create bursts of energy from his eye, a magenta light that incinerates what it touches. He can tune this attack, shooting small bursts, or throwing everything he can and adding the lightning from his tentacles to create a continous enveloping beam of magenta. When this beam destroys anything, Vel'Koz learns much about it. Its nature and how it works. Against lifeforms, he learns a lot about the biological functions and how their kind live.
  • Personality: Vel'Koz is the thirst for knowledge and through this he is arrogant. His nature is supreme to the nature of all others. But, Vel'Koz is also intelligent. He knows that at times others are stronger then he is, which feeds his thirst for knowledge to become stronger. Death would be against his goals, so he prioritizes his actions based on Risk to Reward. Vel'Koz, unlike what you would expect of someone of his arrogence, is quite polite in his interaction with others. Against those stronger than he is, this is a defensive mechanism to learn more while appeasing them. For those weaker than he is, it is because he likes them and appreciates their future contribution to his knowledge. But for those who would be absolutely worthless, he ignores completely.

I wouldn't call Cho'Gath mindless, he's actually surprisingly intelligent from what I've gathered, more so than either Kha'zix or Kog'maw at any rate.

Vel'Koz has a low opinion of him though, he considers him mindless as he only consumes to consume as other Voidborn do.

He actually had a higher opinion of Humans since Humans share, in part, his thirst for knowledge.

As for Momohime/Jinkuro, accepted as well.

He is Magic material, to be on science he would have to swap to Battlecast Vel'Koz who joined Viktor's Machine Movement.

But I thought that the option would be one or the other. I wouldn't mind keeping both.

Kinda bullshat through the backstory, mostly out of laziness.

Also, please don't kill me for this.

  • Name: Teddie
  • Universe: Persona4 and Persona 4 Arena, a day after Yosuke disappbeared
  • Appbearance: "Check out the fur!" "I'm gonna score with the ladies!" And then crossdressing because why not
  • Age: Unknown; not even he knows for sure. In his human form, looks anywhere beartween 13-15 years old.
  • Background: A few years back, a mysterious series of murders and disappearances shook the small town of Inaba... One that was supernatural in nature, involving a mysterious alternate world known as The Midnight Channel linked to the physical world by an old Shinto Goddess and housed manifestations of the deepest, darkest parts of the human subconscious, known as Shadows. Teddie is one of these Shadows, however, he is different. He managed to form his own unique identity, and adopted a more friendly form out of a desire to bearfriend - not harm - humans. He finally got his wish when the founding members of the Investigation Team - Yu Narukami, Yosuke Hanamura, and Chie Satonaka - crossed the border between realities and set foot in the Shadow world for the first time. After the second and third visits from Yu and Yosuke, and the awakening of their inner selves and power, Teddie became an indispensable member of the team. Initially as support and later right out there on the frontlines after confronting his own Shadow, Teddie's been with them since the very bearginning, and has proved his worth both as a friend and fighter. Through the strength of their bonds and an unshakable will, the Team not only managed to catch the killer, but end a plot set into motion by the Goddess Izanami that would have threatened all of humanity. Now a year later, the Midnight Channel has returned, and with it a new mystery that involved not only them, but another group of Persona users, and a new, unknown foe. The P1 Grand Prix came to a close - largely thanks to Teddie's good friend and housemate, Yosuke - and everyone was ready to tackle this new case. And that included Teddie; that is, until strange sounds coming from Yosuke's beardroom that night and his immediate disappearance incite a brand new panic within the group...
  • Powers: Teddie, much like Yosuke, has a variety of skills at his disposal both in terms of his own abilities and his Persona powers:
    • Teddie's main strengths lie in his magic usage through his Bearsona, though his physical strength and endurance aren’t anything to sneeze at either.
    • Teddie uses claws and other Power Fist type weapons to fight; currently, it’s a massive pair of bear-claw esque gauntlets.
    • Teddie, while in bear form, has a heightened sense of smell… Although this has diminished significantly as he’s begun to bearcome more and more human. And gives him an ungodly amount of snot when he uses it.
    • Teddie can summon his Persona, Kintoki-Douji, to help him fight and use magic.
      • Ice Amp: Passive skill that increases the effectiveness of his ice-based magic
      • Bufudyne: High-power single-target ice magic attack.
      • Marakukaja: Increases his allies’ defense for a short time
      • Matarukaja: Increases his allies’ attack strength for a short time
      • Marakunda: Debuffs an enemy group’s defenses for a short time
      • Medirhahan: Fully heals all allies.
      • Evade Elec: Passive ability that helps him evade/negate electrical damage, magic or otherwise
      • Kamui Miracle: “Anything could happen…”. A random-effect spell that can have a variety of potential effects, including completely healing all allies or enemies, KO’ing all allies or enemies, inflicting random status ailments on all allies or enemies, or simply nothing happening. He won’t use this unless specifically asked.
  • Bearsonality: Teddie is an all-around very cheerful and upbeat individual, bubbly and cute and overall very much a “comic relief”-type character. Initially rather cowardly and hiding at the first sign of danger, he has since developed into a beary dependable and brave ally. However, he still has much to learn about the world, and tends to bring utter zaniness to even the most mundane activity through his very childlike curiosity and naivety in regards to the world around him. In addition, he is very much an Anti-Nihilist. He tends to hit on ladies a lot, attempting to “score” with them, with mixed success. He more than likely does not understand the concept of “scoring” or sex. He loves topsicles, and can be easily bribed with them. He also loves and uses bear puns. Lots and lots of bear puns. And seems to enjoy dressing in drag.
  • Team: Magic

Teddie wishes to improve the world by being zaniness and happiness to those around him. Atrocitus believes the only way the universe can be a better place is by brutally murdering evil beings who do terrible acts deliver swift, gory justice upon them.

*Teddie's human form proceeds to climb out of the bear suit*

Also, I don't think that Izanami-no-Okaminote  actually created the TV World. She just created the link between it and the human world. It's the same realm that the Great Seal exists in, after all, which was how Elizabeth was able to wander into the Grand Prix.

...Elizabeth beat the stuffing out of Teddie once.

[up] Well, I know she didn't create the plane that the Midnight Channel is sort of located in. Realm of the subconscious, and whatnot. Midnight Channel itself, though, I think she did have a hand in.

Then again, it's been years since I've actually played the game, so I could be fuzzy on the details. You are more than likely right.

Also now picturing Teddie attempting to impersonate Elsa. Oh goodness.

Name: Supergirl /Kara Zor el/Kara

'Team science

Universe: It's an original version of her. But she is close to early DC animated universe version for reference.Let's say earth 117 :p

Appearance:[1]

Background: Originally a bratty spoiled rich british child kara has a typical human teenager... or so she thought. She coupled with her teenage issues and the revelation she is in fact adopted had a major identity crisis. . While she is a selfish person (with few real friends) that only thinks about her own needs she has a mysterious blue pendant on her neck (wich she has worn all her life) as the only thing she has from her real parents.Despite this fact she is a big fan of superman to the point she owns a lot of his merchandise and wants to be like him someday (this is the only reason she isn't totally a lost cause).

Unknown to her she is in fact a kryptonian that was brought to earth before superman by her parent "zor-el" in hopes of aiding Jor-el and saving Krypton but leaved Kara on earth in case he failed (he did).

One day after coming home drom a costume party (she was disguised as a "female superman") she was told by her foster parents that she was in fact adopted, after she realized that she was adopted she ran away in anger to cry alone and after running for a while and crying at a tree lamenting that her whole life was a lie she suddenly realized that wasn't at home anymore but found herself at this RP...

The blue pendant is actually a piece of blue kryptonite that "suppresses her powers" hence the reason she still thinks she is just an average human.

Powers:

(TL:DR) Superman's powers at super weight 3

  1. Flight
  2. solar energy absobstion
  3. laser/telescopic/microscopic/ xray vision
  4. Superhuman endurance/superfast healing
  5. Super strenght
  6. super healing
  7. Super speed
  8. Super hearing
  9. freeze breath

Weakness to Magic (to balance her numerous powers)/red sun radiation/ kryptonite.

Personality: Spoiled/bratty,Preppy, selfish superficial and a liar While she was raised by a rich couple that loved her but tried to solve every issue with money and looked down at "poor people" you can get the idea she is far from being a good person. But my goal through the rp will be to redeem her an make her worthy of being "supergirl". So the day she returns to her universe (if she does) she will be a true hero.

Secretly she is a nerd and immature

She is in fact just a Jerk with a Heart of Gold, cheerful , loyal , she has a hard time trusting others, she is also an shameless idealist and a loving person. She has what she thinks is an "adult" view of life because she is pessimistic ("realistic") outlook of life but secretly wants to believe there is always hope and love.

edited 27th Apr '14 9:19:35 AM by RPGLegend

Forgiveness is beyond justice, faith is superior than hope, redemption is better than perfection and love is greater than them all.
