What? umm yeah there is a point to this there are already a shit ton of tropes and Magical Girl is bloated enough as is.
And Frills of Justice is the perfect name since the Dark Magical Girl will not get many frills at all till the Heel–Face Turn then gets them as she is good now. (exception is Fate in Nanoha but that series tones the frills down alot as is.)
Anyway Bump
Send this to YKTTW and get a rename crowner going? I like Frill Upgrade to go along with Shonen Upgrade as this comes with a powerup but we can go with something comparable to Mecha Expansion Pack as well they are both sister tropes to this.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Well there seems to be consensus for a Trope Transplant, so let's get an alt name crowner.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Alt names blank hooked.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Work on Sandbox.Frills Of Justice is still on my todo list along with the rewrite of Magical Girl and probably of Dark Magical Girl. I'm just really really busy.
And as for the transplant title, does anyone not agree on Frilly Upgrade?
That's what the crowner is there for.
But I'm not too keen on that, as it could imply anything, costume or otherwise, being upgraded, even if it wasn't frilly before.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. It doesn't need to have been frilly before. Especially if they were more action girl before the costume will often go from rather plain at first to quite frilly as they get more power. It's not uncommon for the first power tier to be almost simplistic in design.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickYeah.
Also the amount of frills upgraded usually depends on what kind of powerup it is. If its a So Last Season Upgrade from like S1 to S2 the frill upgrade will be relatively minor, If its a 11th-Hour Superpower upgrade thats only on screen for 5 minutes (possibly with its own Trinket and additional Transformation Sequence [1].) oh its on.
An Example I already had uploaded... Season 1◊ to Season 2◊ Not a big difference, Super transformation◊ can that get anymore frilly?
Anyway I am not sure I like Frilly Upgrade Of Justice it comes too close to the old name which is going to be something different.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Calling this for Frilly Upgrade
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickWell that was solved. Now to change the page, wicks, and set up the proper trope for the current name.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Cool Crown and Leg High Boots are up on YKTTW, for the page that Frills of Justice being turned into.
SPATULA, Supporters of Page Altering To Urgently Lead to Amelioration (supports not going through TRS for tweaks and minor improvements.)Bumping...
Going with the convo in the Image Picking thread
The current page needs a bit of a rewrite, right now it comes out as seasonal specific and not related to their power up, when that is completely the heart of the trope (hence the old name to the trope) and needs to be made clear.
When a magical girl gets a Powerup they get one of two things a new weapon (that is easily marketed as a toy) or a Frill Upgrade.... Or both at the same time.
They don't get muscular, armor etc they get more frills and fancier costumes, its not just a seasonal thing too it can be in transformation stages with the new power and thus new costume, when and why varies it could be a Mid-Season Upgrade, 11th-Hour Superpower or So Last Season etc.
The powerup aspect is intertwined with the frills literally the Magical Girl equivalent to Mecha Expansion Pack.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Should we sandbox or run through YKTTW, since we're doing a trope transplant?
Cool Crown was launched, by the way, as was Thigh High Boots.

SPATULA, Supporters of Page Altering To Urgently Lead to Amelioration (supports not going through TRS for tweaks and minor improvements.)Probably a good idea.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickSooo.... Did this go anywhere?
Calling someone a pedant is an automatic Insult Backfire. Real pedants will be flattered.Name crowner was called. This can be marked pending final, it just needs a ton of grunt work.
- Swap current Frills of Justice page to Frilly Upgrade
- Finish work on Sandbox.Frills Of Justice
- Install the sandbox page to the current Frills of Justice page.
Now watch me disappear again instead of doing actual work. ;P (Sorry!)

I can do the swap.
SPATULA, Supporters of Page Altering To Urgently Lead to Amelioration (supports not going through TRS for tweaks and minor improvements.)Done! The page has been switched out and the old write up is now on Frilly Upgrade and there's a notice up on the Frills of Justice page. We need to move the wicks over, though.
SPATULA, Supporters of Page Altering To Urgently Lead to Amelioration (supports not going through TRS for tweaks and minor improvements.)So what exactly remains to be done here?
I fixed a spelling error. "Palate" is the roof of your mouth; "palette" is the thing with all the colours on it.
So are we going to make a trope for the old name? I think that was brought up before.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. There was a sandbox in this thread somewhere.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!I tried my hand at sorting and moving the examples as seemed appropriate *. The ones that appeared to fit a general Magical Girl costume trope were kept as Frills of Justice, the upgrade ones were changed to Frilly Upgrade, and the examples that were unrelated to Magical Girl costumes were snipped. There was a significant amount of misuse for "Frills Are Heroic." If anyone thinks that is worth having as a trope, I have a few examples of it that I could add to a potential YKTTW.
Anyway, the Sandbox page looks fine to me and I think we can go forward with a YKTTW for it. I would be willing to do that later, but if anyone has more time now or has been following this thread more than I have, that person can feel free to make the YKTTW instead.

Elle, |
The following are the only examples I could really piece together from my very limited knowledge of the works in question. Would it be worth including them on the sandbox page or are we looking for a different kind of example? I guess I am kind of unsure what type of examples Frills of Justice should include. Are we just looking for works that feature traditional Magical Girl outfits?
- Fushigiboshi no★Futagohime's heroines wear incredibly impractical poofy princess dresses.
- Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash★Star includes nearly all of the signature Magical Girl costume characteristics, especially ribbons, jewelry, and bright color schemes.
- Ayumu Aikawa of Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka wears this type of costume when crossdressing as a (zombie) Magical Girl.
- Sailor Moon's "Eternal" form costume seems to have purely decorative wings that cause nothing but inconvenience.
- Yes! Pretty Cure 5 has what might be called Wings Of Justice; later, Jackets, and later, Even Bigger Wings of Justice.
- Elemental Goddess, being a Magical Girl show directly based on Sailor Moon, is rife with Frills of Justice, including distinctive color schemes and filly skirts and dresses.

We can just make a list of common ways these outfits are done, like Pimped-Out Dress does. No need to make a while bunch of new tropes or make this an index.
