I'd actually be down for a Danny Phantom sequel if it got the "first 5 episodes of the Samurai Jack revival" treatment.

It's not coming back but it's pretty obvious Butch Hartman wants to bring it back. And all of its fans are now grown up to the point where you hear about it on the internet pretty often. It's not looking so bleak!

I do find it funny that it did a version of the Marvel Infinity Gauntlet story two years before the Marvel Cinematic Universe started.

Admittedly, the Reality Trip two-parter/movie thing wasn't exactly amazing and the ending was a massive cop-out, but it's still kind of funny.

A cop-out?

Danny using the hand to reset everyone's memories but learning (for the first time) that his loved ones will still love him despite his alter-ego?

I don't have a problem with him resetting everything else, it's just that he finds out that his parents will accept him at least twice before the end of the series (IIRC) and he still hides it. Having his whole family in on the secret, but still having to hide it from the rest of the world creates a new dynamic that isn't just "Spider-Man, but ghostly". It's just a weird thing to do, especially since there's no hint his parents will blab or anything. I do get him not telling them before Reality Trip, but not after.

Also, maybe if they had known, Jack and Maddie would have been able to actually tailor their technology to what Danny needed.

I'll be honest, I'm just tired of the "I need to hide my secret identity from everyone except my two random friends to protect everyone even though my villains mostly know who I am anyway." It was really annoying in Trollhunters and it's actually more annoying here, since Jack and Maddie can take care of themselves, and clearly expect their kids to go into ghost-hunting anyway. (I give Spectacular Spider-Man a pass, because not wanting his elderly aunt to be worried, I can be okay with, especially since Peter doesn't have any secret keepers there.)

I feel like it's one of those things I don't mind in this show due to nostalgia, but would bitch and moan about in anything I watched today.

And what two times was his secret blown? This was the first, and the second time IIRC was Phantom Planet, the Series Finale.

Yeah I got that wrong. I was thinking of the time travel episode where Danny changed the accident that hit Vlad which was...not even remotely the same situation.

[up][up]tbh it bugged me a lot when I first watched the show. Literally Danny you have no reason to hide it from them. argh.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.

[up]What bugged me is that when he did reveal his (super-obvious) secret identity in the finale; he revealed it to the entire world as if it wasn't an exceptionally dangerous move. As stupid as it was to keep it from his parents, he didn't have to tell everyone.

I'm actually down with a more mature, live-action Danny Phantom show that's on an actual quality station and not Nickelodeon. However, a cartoon reboot would be fine, but it would have to be writers who really know what they're doing like Alex Hirsch, Greg Weisman (although he's busy with YJ at the moment), Aaron Ehasz, some of the writers from the Avatar crew, etc. I wouldn't count out Butch Hartman, but the show would really need great writers.

Butch is a great artist and animator. As a writer though he doesn't really have many good ideas. I wish he would just be responsible for art in the potential revival and leave the writing and story to the professionals.

Have any of his shows after Danny Phantom been any different or showed any improvement? Because FOP is a rotting corpse and the Crash Nebula pliot, while somewhat enjoyable, was still him playing all the same tropes from his other shows pretty straight.

Come to think of it I didn't really care for Tuff Puppy.

But I contest that the latest Fairly Oddparents season actually has a fun twist to the usual formula.

Last I checked there is no actual reboot. As far as we know, the series isn't actually coming back.

I was talking about the possibility of it coming back, and how people actually want it for some reason. Apparently people have learned nothing from TTG and the new Powerpuff Girls.

Well, it wouldn't be a reboot if they started it 10 years later. It'd be a Sequel Series.

The word reboot has been completely hijacked by the casual audience lately to just mean "bring something back" rather than to start continuity from scatch. I blame Star Wars.

So, JelloApocalypse recently uploaded their newest installment in their "So This Is Basically X" series with Danny Phantom. Unlike their previous episodes, they were able to get Butch Hartman to lend his vocals and character design of his Canon Foreigner: Rebreather.

Unfortunately, this came out around the time where a real-life obsessive fan of Ember from the show decided to do the unthinkable.

Was there actually a ghost tornado?

...there was a ghost meteor and a ghost tentacle monster plant so I'm not ignoring the possibility.

Vortex was the ghost tornado pretty much. He was honestly pretty bleh and not very memorable. As was Undergrowth and Nocturne whom were also villains of that last season.
