Sequence breaking The Goopy Inferno saves you like 15+ minutes of pain, though.

Too bad we can't do the same thing to Secret of the Village Underside. Fuck that level.

You can get into Secret of the Village Underside without Yoshi, though.

It's pretty fun. I did it back when I did that challenge of getting as many Shine Sprites as possible without triggering the Pianta statue cutscene.

[up][up][up]I meant going under the village since the level's beginning (there are giant mushrooms under the bridge too). The standard route has you taking the caged hole near the Pianta spa.

I wouldn't call the cutscenes in Sunshine an improvement. All they do is eliminate any need for exploration—the game tells you where to go right off the bat. Given the presence of hint-spewing NPCs and the fact that the stages have radically different features in each mission, I think the game would be improved if they cut the cutscenes.

Also, am I the only one who didn't think the button combinations in Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie were overly complicated?

Sunshine wouldn't be easier without blue coins...

The only thing that would be is 100%...but the extra shines are useless...

But who really 100% Sunshine for fun, for serious?

Question: in New Super Mario Bros. U, is it possible to leave a Baby Yoshi on the map screen? Once you touch one, it follows you everywhere, but they're really more hindrance than help. I know you can get rid of them by killing them or yourself, but I'd really rather keep them on the map screen—"in reserve," so to speak, for when I actually think they'd be useful—without having to take them into the stages proper.

Anyone ever wonder... what would happen if you kicked Mario in the jewels? Like, would money fly out of his head or something, coin sound effect and all?

That stuff keeps me up at night.

Is this the only reference to the Wario series in any of the Mario spinoffs?

At :12 is the intro to the main theme to Wario Land 1 and 2, if you're not aware.

Wario's victory theme in the N64 Tennis and Power Tennis is a tune from one of the Wario Land games.

So I'm replaying New Super Mario Bros. U (I'm going to play New Super Luigi U for the first time after that!), and I've been thinking up new stuff I'd like to see in Nintendo's next 2D Mario game.

For example, what if there were a new type of block that gives you different items depending on which direction you hit it from? From below (by jumping), from above (by ground-pounding), or from the side (by throwing a Koopa shell at it).

The one thing I want from NSMB, the ONE THING I want is to add more playable characters.

They can just be glorified skins and I would think it's enough.

Give us the 3D World characters and their mechanics (and give Mario something unique) in a NSMB game and I'll be content.

Hopefully, the next 2D Mario will not be a New Super Mario Bros. That series has run its course. Personally, I'm hoping for something 2.5D like Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards.

Alternately, a sequel/successor to Super Mario Bros. 2, featuring Wart, Birdo, and the entire Subcon army.

[up]Finally someone who agrees with me. The "New" subseries should have been only two games (DS and Wii). Given that Nintendo is making a new, non-sequel 3D Mario game (Odyssey), I'm really hoping they do the same with the next 2D game.
