General Mario Thread

A Whomp partner could...fall on things and flatten them...?

There should be a new Yoshi-partner in Paper Mario 3 DS. When the Goomba-, Koopa-, Ghost- and Bomb-partners did get expies from each other in the first two Paper Mario-game, then it shouldn't be impossible for Mini-Yoshi to get his expy. :P

They should have Donkey Kong and/or Wario in Paper Mario 3D.

...I'd like if they appeared in Mario games other than to fill out the playable roster in the various spinoffs nowadays.

@Komodin and Wacky: Oh trust me. You haven't seen anything yet. I plan on ripping TTYD and SPM a new one and pissing all over them once I get to playing those games. And I'm not even finished with the original yet. Oh don't get me wrong, they're fantastic games (except for SPM.) But they have their fair share of flaws. TTYD for example has the horribly written Peach sections and that really shitty, really fucking long, unskippable cutscene before the final boss. And don't get me started on SPM.

So I've been playing the first Super Mario Galaxy lately, beating the game without much trouble.

Then I decided to do some Purple Coin missions.

In particular, Dreadnought Galaxy's.

I'm just glad they put a 1-Up so close to the start, because I'm sure I died more than 20 times during the whole thing. Mostly during the part where it goes sideways, and once when I only had 5 coins left. >_<

The worst part is that you pride on it. And I loved SPM. Just not being like the first two games doesn't mean it's OMG SO FREAKIN' HORRIBLE ASDHASFGHASDGFGAUDG!

And the Whomp partner could be... I don't know, this sort of hulking, slow, and stupid kind of guy who speaks veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery slooooooooooooooooooooooooooowly. His out-of-battle ability could be being used as a bridge.

Also since Goombario suggested for a Raven to join the group in the first game, I've always wanted a Raven partner. I might draw him too.

Are you fucking kidding me? I dislike SPM for legitimate reasons, not just cause it's not an RPG. The new gameplay is really fucking boring. It's too shallow, and the level design is really meh in this game. Oh, and the game is too easy, that there's no challenge, you barely have to think a whole lot. And what little difficulty I had with the game, was shattered by me discovering the Bowser/Carrie combo, making the game completely and utterly trivial and boring. And the challenge is shattered even further by items, which are completely overpowered in this game. Really, the concept of mixing an RPG story with a platformer does not work well. Whereas in the other games, there were tons of options you could do, and the action commands added on to the gameplay a whole lot. Intelligent Systems really doesn't know how to create platformers. Oh, and the plot veers into Sonic 2006 territory.

And the new Paper Mario game... meh. Not appealing too much to me right now. It doesn't look as fun as the first two games, but it's looking slightly better than SPM. I'll just wait and see.

Oh, don't be ridiculous, mang. The story may not have as awesome as the previous titles, but — and I'm saying this as the moron who bought and beaten the game — there's no part in it that gets anywhere near as bad as Sonic 2006.

I meant gets a little too dark and nonsensical at times with that particular comment. Could've worded that better.

Hmm, it looks like the 3DS game is gonna be focusing on stickers. And in one of the trailers, a book opens up in the intro segment, showing 7 crowns/crown stickers. Our macguffins for the game, perhaps?
