First thing's first: KEEP. THIS. SHIT. CIVIL. If you can't talk about race without resorting to childish insults and rude generalizations or getting angry at people who don't see it your way, leave the thread.
With that said, I bring you to what can hopefully be the general thread about race.
First, a few starter questions.
- How, if at all, do you feel your race affects your everyday life?
- Do you believe that white people (or whatever the majority race in your area is) receive privileges simply because of the color of their skin. How much?
- Do you believe minorities are discriminated against for the same reason? How much?
- Do you believe that assimilation of cultures is better than people trying to keep their own?
- Affirmative Action. Yea, Nay? Why or why not?
Also, a personal question from me.
- Why (in my experience, not trying to generalize) do white people often try to insist that they aren't white? I can't count the number of times I've heard "I'm not white, I'm 1/4th English, 1/4th German, 1/4th Scandinavian 1/8th Cherokee, and 1/8th Russian," as though 4 of 5 of those things aren't considered "white" by the masses. Is it because you have pride for your ancestry, or an attempt to try and differentiate yourself from all those "other" white people? Or something else altogether?

The black bloc's usual targets aren't just limited to Actual Facists either. Most modern first world governments are imperialist police states in their view, above and beyond what legit concearns such as increasing surveillance and police militarization might warrant. Global corporations are also big targets.
A pretty good (if lengthy) Facebook post on the nature of neo-Nazis.
What's precedent ever done for us?I've heard often among large protests, especially blm protests, undercover cops will blend in to incite violence and try to get everyone arrested for rioting. That's why I'm big on keeping protests peaceful.
Interesting read. Reminds me of something I read earlier when skimming some of the US Politics thread. A person commented on the Alt-Right infecting the Furry Fandom. I think we all know there are plenty of at least Alt-Light folks in nerd circles. And that FB post about Neo-Nazis in indie music scenes made me wonder just how deep the rabbithole goes.
Are there scores of Nazis in every subculture? Do some attract them more than others?
I'm not even sure if this belongs in this thread but I have no idea where else I'd ask and I'm legit very intrigued by this.
Neo-folk is notoriously balls-deep in fascism and its surrounding ideologies (the Wikipedia article on it throws dogwhistles at you like there's no tomorrow), and then there's NSBM. Nazis show up in most art-forms and genres, because those are extremely broad categories, but there are certain genres that are especially associated with them. Military sci-fi, for instance, is not an inherently fascist genre, but has a disproportionate number of fascist and fascist-aligned authors, like the charming Tom Kratman and his literary buddies.

What's precedent ever done for us?
Kind of ties in to those moviebob tweets posted earlier in the thread. A lot of "progressives" seem to be unwilling or unable to accept that yes, there really are people in this world who are just that shitty.
Neo-Nazis are more or less a real life deconstruction of Evil Is Cool.

Disgusted, but not surprisedI am a fan of the Martial Industrial music genre, it really draws a lot of fascists and neo-nazis, what it doesn't help is that there are Martial Industrial bands that are fascist supporters.
Specially since the musical themes take cue from militarism, military march music, Roman Empire History, Pan and Proto European iconography , that musical genre in particular draws a lot of actual nazis and fascists into it.
One that I particularly know for being outright Nazi supporters is Blood Soil.
Inter arma enim silent legesI've heard that this guy called Burzum or whatever is a known white supremacist... maybe someone here who's heard of him can explain further because all I know about the guy is that and that he does music.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Here's the rule of thumb:
- Finds beauty in war, in killing, in being killed.
- Is nostalgic for an idealized past golden age (Medieval European Fantasy, Sword and Sandal, Peplum, Sengoku Jidai) where things made more sense. Which mainly involves a stratified caste system with warriors or philodopher-priests on top, where the main way to solve problems is to kill enemies.
- Likes to place passion before reason, and likes stories where dashing, action oriented characters triumph in spite of all common sense, not because of it. Failing that, they like to see those characters in action, and, if it leads to (literal) tragedy, their reaction is sympathy, rather than outrage at the destructive stupidity or lack of effort to compromise or at least communicate.
- Has niche interests which correlate with social misfitness.
You're likely to find neonazis and neoconfederates there. There's plenty of non Nazis who like Starship Troopers or Three Hundred or Warhammer 40 K unironically, but, from all we've discussed earlier, from Umberto Eco and Sartre's analysis, you can see how such media would tickle all of a fascist's figurative clits.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. That's hardly surprising. Look at the name. "Blood & Soil" was a Nazi slogan.
It should be pointed out that Var Vikernes/Burzum's actual music doesn't really make use of white supremacist ideas/imagery, but otherwise, the man is a real piece of shit. He's an arsonist, murderer, and a straight-up bigot. He thinks that The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion is an actual document, is an anti-vaxxer because they, "make morally bankrupt Jews in the medical industry (even more) filthy rich and powerful," believes that Neanderthals (who he claims are the direct ancestors of Europeans) looked like Viking-era Norsemen, and is just full-on Neo-Nazi with statements like, "Some Europeans are a bit "polluted genetically", so to speak, and have brown eyes for instance, that is something that can be solved by a few generations of race hygiene." Yeaaaaahhhh...
"Somehow the hated have to walk a tightrope, while those who hate do not."wew lad
Do we have a trope page on him or no? I'm too scared to look it up...

To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Here you go. Notice how Varg is also extremely anti-Christian.
"Somehow the hated have to walk a tightrope, while those who hate do not."Lets say that Varg and his role in Mayhem, would be the what if someone actually did what black metal lyrics are all about brought to life.
Inter arma enim silent legesSounds like a good chunk of fiction, honestly. i've read a lot and discussed a lot lately about fascism in fiction, specifically superheroes and science fiction, and there's just no getting away from it. Romanticism is a good thing that people love, uncompromising heroes who are victorious or die because of their refusal to compromise, hell, the mere existence of a Great Man or Woman who is clearly better than everyone else - these are things that are never going away.
But well, you'll find Nazis in the weridest places. The Libertarian movement - a fiercely individualistic ideology that stresses the evil of government - is filled with Nazis.
I suppose what it comes down to is fascism is a feeling more than an idea. It makes no real logical sense but it's very alluring for appealing to various base desires. As such, it can draw all types in, even in places you wouldn't expect.

"The Libertarian movement - a fiercely individualistic ideology that stresses the evil of government - is filled with Nazis."
That blows my fucking mind.
More Contra fans = more good.
But yeah, Reason, the premier Libertarian publication thing, recently made a video about the Alt-Right:
If you have the stomach for it, check out the Top Comments. But if not, and I don't blame you, just know that this video currently has 5K Dislikes to 1K Likes. You gotta know your audience. Reminds me of how some run-of-the-mill anti-"SJW" guy on YT made a video calling his brethren to arms against the Alt-Right. The result? Mass Dislikes and Top Comments calling him various Jewish slurs. I wonder why this could be?
There are good, sincere Libertarians out there but they are definitely a minority. Not to toot my own horn but I made a post about this elsewhere and it has some interesting links in it that I recommend.

That is a pretty decent channel, thanks for sharing.
Inter arma enim silent legesWell, both are compatible with social darwinism.
A lot of Libertarians aren't in it for the supposed individualism. They're in it to justify their right to say and do horrible things. Hence the Nazi presence.

That's terrible. I have a sad now.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Very true, not to mention that individualism =/= minarchism. A system where the strongest rise to the top and the rest are serfs could easily be individualistic but not minarchist in the slighest.

"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnThe staff of a Minnesota bar quit after they learned that the owner had donated to David Duke's Senate campaign. As in, all of the staff.
I suppose his staff quitting is free speech too? Seems like he doesn't feel that way.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiot
Basically German Antifa in a nutshell. :/
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.
