[up][up] Well, there are no official rules around here afaik, but I figured it would be nice to know the next time I do some traveling.

[up] No way, that would make sense and be efficient. We can't have that.

I like how the one time rightwingers care about women is when it means disenfranchising another group of people. Similar to when they appeal to "think of the women!" as an argument to keep out foreigners. Oh if you tolerate the outgroup they'll rape and abuse our women, and that's bad. But when one of our ingroup is accused? She was a dumb bitch who fucking deserved it.

Well yeah. If women are your property, you can do with them as you please but the Others mustn't unless they get your permission. The same reason rape in marriage wasn't considered rape for a long time.

[up][up][up] And transmen don't count, since they're still biologically female and thus don't have a natural urge to rape. Also, they don't exist. Obviously.

And in other less than joyful news, a large chunk of LB women don't feel welcomed at LGBT events like Pride parades.

In the early days of Pride, it was Gay Pride. Later, it became Gay and Lesbian Pride. Today, in an effort to be more inclusive, many celebrations have tacked on LGBTQ or Queer or opted to let “Pride” stand alone. But despite these shifts toward recognizing that women, and bisexual, queer, and transgender people are part of the community, not everyone is feeling the love.

According to Bustle, more than a third of LGBTQ women surveyed by dating app HER reported that they don’t feel included at Pride. Of the more than 3,000 respondents to the June 9 survey, queer and bisexual women were less likely to feel welcome or well-represented at Pride—only 47 percent and 57 percent, respectively. The survey does not appear to have isolated responses from transgender women.

While women don’t always feel welcome at Pride and fewer than half those surveyed planned to attend this year, most have events in their city (74 percent) and believe the annual celebration plays an important role in the community (89 percent). The most common reason stated for not attending is not having anyone to go with (33 percent), followed by not being interested in the events (24 percent). Whether that’s because their friends are in the 60 percent that hasn’t committed to attending, or because they don’t know other LGBTQ people is unclear.

The report didn’t mention what factors were likely to increase feelings of welcome and representation, such as the presence of a Dyke March or other events tailored to queer and trans women.

For Youtube's #Proud To Be thing, Epic Rap Battlesof History chose to put out a rap battle between Bruce Banner and Bruce Jenner, also featuring their respective "transformations" The Hulk and Caitlyn Jenner. This rap battle opened up a can of worms because it seems like it's become one of ERB's more controversial videos.

People say Caitlyn's ending verse is too long and they barely gave Hulk any lines in an attempt to appeal to the LGBT movement. People also say that using Caitlyn's "dead name" as part of the title is pretty offensive all on its own, though perhaps that is somewhat mitigated by having Caitlyn be portrayed by an actual transgender performer.

Here, watch the rap battle yourself and see if people's complaints are justified:

admittedly Caitlyn's raps were shit, and the person portraying her could not rap for shit either, oh and think she's a horrible person who should be in prison for when she killed someone with her car, but most people seem to focus on the transphobia

I'm not convinced they didn't try to "jump the shark" in honor of Shark Week.

And the presence of a trans performer just kind of makes it worse. Now people can say "See, it's not bigoted. It has one of you people in it."

Trump didn't immediately - or at all? - join Ted Cruz's hate fest against transgender folks using toilets, so he is more moderate on that issue. That's it though.

So apparently today the Pentagon said they'll accept open transgender people in the military. I honestly thought it would take them longer.

The Pentagon said Thursday it was ending the ban on transgender people being able to serve openly in the U.S. military. The announcement — which removes one of the last barriers to military service by any individual — was made by Defense Secretary Ash Carter, who had been studying the issue for almost a year. The decision comes as the military has witnessed major changes in the role of women and the inclusion of gays, lesbians and bisexual service members in recent years.

"The Defense Department and the military need to avail ourselves of all talent possible in order to remain what we are now — the finest fighting force the world has ever known," Carter said Thursday at the Pentagon. "We don't want barriers unrelated to a person's qualification to serve preventing us from recruiting or retaining the soldier, sailor, airman or marine who can best accomplish the mission. We have to have access to 100% of America's population," he added.

"Although relatively few in number, we're talking about talented and trained Americans who are serving their country with honor and distinction," he said. "We want to take the opportunity to retain people whose talent we've invested in and who've proven themselves." Carter said the decision was "a matter of principle."

"Americans who want to serve and meet our standards should be afforded the opportunity to compete," he said.

The ground work to lift the prohibition began last year when the secretary said he would study the "readiness implications of welcoming transgender persons to serve openly." "This has been an educational process for a lot of people in the department, including me," Carter said, describing his meetings with transgender service members.

Carter said the ending of the ban takes effect immediately and that no longer could a transgender person be discharged on that basis. At the upper end of the estimates, there are as many as 11,000 transgender active duty service members and reservists who will be affected by the decision, according to a RAND Corporation study cited by the Pentagon.

Carter noted the Pentagon received input from transgender service members and experts and medical professionals outside the department. He also said at least 18 other countries allow transgender members to serve openly. The move comes after gays, lesbians and bisexuals were allowed to serve openly in 2011 when the "don't ask, don't tell" policy was ended. In 2015, the Family Medical Leave Act was extended to cover all legally married same-sex couples and the Defense Department amended its equal opportunity program "to protect service members against discrimination because of sexual orientation."

Rep. Mac Thornberry, Republican chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, said Friday he had a number of longstanding questions for the Pentagon that remained unanswered. "In particular, there are readiness challenges that first must be addressed, such as the extent to which such individuals would be medically non-deployable," Thornberry said in a statement. "Almost a year has passed with no answer to our questions from Secretary Carter. Our top priority must be warfighting effectiveness and individual readiness is an essential part of that."

The Pentagon's decision coincides with broader acceptance of transgendered individuals in the U.S., but also criticism from social conservatives.
