She was faking? Well, I'll take your word for it until I get around to watching it myself. All I ever saw of it are some choice screenshots and GIFs (one of which introduced me to the surprisingly fact that Mai is a heavy metal fan).
Back to the topic at hand, I forgot to add my headcanon for why she only uses a Combat Hand Fan-based style in the KOF games: Partly as a Self-Imposed Challenge, partly because the KOF tournaments are supposed to be relatively mundane martial arts competitions with strict rules against deliberately causing serious injuries or killing opponents (thus no bladed weapons and the like), partly to support her Obfuscating Stupidity facade, and partly because she doesn't expect or is seriously hoping that this time around there will be no world-threatening crises that would make her wish she actually brought along her real weapons.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Does Banderas actually use kunai..?
And I guess the only characters that explicitly have weapons are all criminals or bosses, right? I wonder why Kim just never bothered to take away Chang and Choi's weapons...
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes! On a different note, what tropes apply to my aforementioned headcanon about Mai as a ninja, both here and here?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Technically Mai throws fans. Mary also sometimes has her taser from Real Bout.
The former is technically an Improvised Weapon. The latter is explicitly supposed to be nonlethal when used correctly (notwithstanding people who are unusually sensitive to electric shocks).
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.... What does Yamazaki and Blue Mary duking it out have to do with Mai's use of fans in combat?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. Was talking about the taser/stungun being used excessively. And either way a weapon's a weapon.

... Well, I chalk all those sparks to being something of The Coconut Effect — that is, the devs may have expected (perhaps rightly) that the majority of players would decry a realistic depiction of taser use instead of a Rule of Cool-driven one in which an excess of electric sparks is generated from both the taser and by the tased person.
On a different note, how different is Mai's character...
- Between Fatal Fury and The King Of Fighters?
- Between the Fatal Fury and The King Of Fighters on one hand, and other SNK-made video games in which Mai features prominently?
- Between the Fatal Fury and The King Of Fighters on one hand, and non-video game adaptations such as the Fatal Fury animated movies or the spin-off KOF comics?
"HIYIYIYIYIYIYI!"
It's the Official Invitation team at the bat, along with our first real look at Mian. We don't actually see a ton of her, but she seems to mainly be about pressure and mix-up. There wasn't a lot of mask-switching either, or at least none that really affects gameplay that much, though maybe that's just something we really need to see more of to know just how it works. She isn't quite what I was expecting, but she still looks pretty solid. HYPE!

Eh? She switches masks several times, visually it doesn't seem to make her look all that different but it definitely seems involved with her mechanics which was expected/
I'm calling it now: Mian has connections to the Orochi cult. It'd fit in with the others, with Kukiri being a former Those Who Came From the Past member, and Sylphie being a former NESTS subject.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...For those who didn't noticed that Mian is a girl before the trailer of her team was out, you'll might need to look closer on her bust (particularly on her character select portrait)
I am serious despise Sylvie on not just a Troll (her personality on victory & win poses, as well as on her fighting style) also being a Dangerously Genre-Savvy, BlondeGirlsAreEvil and Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass (her movesets (like her CA) & much dangerous Troll personality)
Oh, in case you all didn't on the main website page (safe for character pages), Another World Team (along with it's member name) are misspelled as AOF Team, with the member name are from Official Invitation Team on English website. & now the website is fixed. But... wow, Mian's profile is just... wow. I've seen a shy girl wears a mask to hide their cute face before, while having a polite personality. Seems to be one of my type

I guess there just wasn't as much mask-switching as I'd like to have seen, and it wasn't really that obvious just how important mask switching really is for her either. What I expected to see was her starting with one mask, then doing a move, and then switching to another mask to perform another move in succession, and so on and so forth. In other words, different masks would give her different movesets, but she'd be able to switch between them mid-combo by switching her mask. But at this point, it just seems like the mask is more or less cosmetic, and I'm not sure if it will really make that much of a difference gameplay wise.
Also, in case you haven't read Sylvie's profile, there's this little nugget:
So, Sylvie isn't just a sadistic SOB, but she's also just plain nuts. Good to know.

If the game being technical and execution heavy is his deterrent than he won't like this one.
I guess he never liked HD Combos...
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!Him being someone who's familiar with fighting games, there's nothing in this game I see that's too technical.
I don't like Max so I'm not viewing, anyone care to give me a synopsis? The only other thing I've heard is that he incessantly asks for Rock even though he should well know why the kid wouldn't be in the game.

I love how Mian is dress as a Chinese Opera actor, an art you don't usually see much in media except in documentaries and travel shows.
She reminds me of one fighting videogame character set in China where this large Chinese Opera actor has a small old guy who bounces around as his partner.

"I don't know anything about KOF or SNK beyond what was in CVS, I used to hate SNK's fighters because I'm a massive Capcom fanboy, but Rock Howard is neat and I'll give this one a try if the netcode's good despite the bad graphics."
He sounds optimistic about it, at least, but generally Max doesn't play anything that's not a Capcom fighter or Killer Instinct longer than a week.
He plays Guilty Gear Xrd alot
I just saw the Official Invitation Team video, is that Alex Mercer there on the right?!
No you fool its Bluestreak Voltag
You might have something there. In Fatal Fury The Motion Picture, Mai faked being a Damsel in Distress to make Andy appreciate her more.
You gotta start somewhere.
