I write stories as an excuse to write stories.
Read my stories!I generally don't talk much about any of my ideas, but I imagine people with psychic powers kung-fu fighting Norse gods sounds kind of insane.

I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialI've had an idea for a while now about a fight scene where one guy has Baccano-style Reverse Bleeding regenerative immortality, (where stuff removed from your body flies back into it). He pulls out his own ribs and uses them as throwing star/boomerangs. The other guy uses a grenade launcher, with four other grenade launchers mounted onto it.
I'm not sure who would win, but it would be AMAZING.

It sure does. In Crazy Awesome sense.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. And how about a hypothetical fight between Shiki Ryougi and Yorihime? Sure, the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception would give Shiki the upper hand initially, but Yorihime (being from the moon) wouldn't have a terrestrial concept of Death and wouldn't have any 'lines'...so I'm guessing it'd end in a stalemate. An AWESOME stalemate.
At least until Shiki's Third Personality activates.

oh god I'm boring
I don't like fantasy and I am not really a fan of sci-fi either
If any question why we died/ Tell them, because our fathers lied -Rudyard KiplingWhy you think that's a bad thing? I can totally understand if anyone doesn't like fantasy and sci-fi. I mean, come on, in certain view, it's a total bullshit that can never, EVER happen. That's why I also can understand if someone doesn't like fiction in general.
Hell, do you know what my ultimate goal is? Making a story completely based on existing technology and primariliy driven by psychology and philosophy. I'm going for speculative fiction because I don't have enough talent and mental maturity to write anything Crazy Awesome without being unrealistic.
I don't know this Yorihime character because I never played/read (seriously, what is it supposed to be?) Touhou Project. Also, does Shiki's power applies to only existence on Earth? I thought Akasha was the reality itself.

I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. One of the characters in the aforementioned work of mine routinely uses their dismembered body parts as weapons and can give you explosive cancer by touching you. Yes, both definitions of "explosive" apply.

I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialThe parts of their body parts remind me of Kimimaro from Naruto. Is he an inspiration by any chance?
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.She. And no, no real inspiration. She has Type ||| Immortality and tends to make a mess of anyone who gets in her way, using whatever she can get her hands.
Oh yeah and there's the cancer.
I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialHe's a Nazi sorcerer of the SS. He's a neurotic cyborg ninja. Together they fight crime.
That depends. Which phrase seems more exciting: "raised by ninja" or "swordfight in nuclear reactor"?
The latter, I think.
But only if it's an active nuclear reactor.
Fantasy yeah, but depends on how hard the sci fi is. Neural interfaces are real now and they can give you techlepathy, among other things.

In the stories I do, I try to make everything possible, just so it becomes a matter of probability.
"Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person that doesn't get it."Well, Yorihime's pretty obscure as far as Touhou characters go. She's never appeared in any of the games, and we only know about her because of her appearance in Silent Sinner in Blue (spinoff manga), Cage in Lunatic Runagate (spinoff collection of short stories) and a brief cameo in Inaba of the Moon and Inaba of the Earth (also spinoff manga). What she does have is a reputation for being utterly, brokenly overpowered. As I understand it, the consensus is that Yorihime simply cannot be defeated. Plus, she's a sword fighter, much like Void!Shiki. Check her entry under the Character page for Touhou for more details.
As for Shiki's power, yes it does. The Mystic Eyes of Death Perception can only perceive the 'lines of death' on things that have a concept of death under Gaia. Something like ORT, which is from Mercury, does not have visible lines because it's not from Earth. Hence, it follows that Lunarians, who are from the moon, would not have a concept of death that exists under Gaia. (Plus, in Touhou canon they're generally immortal anyway). Shiki's 3rd Personality is what is Akasha itself, and is basically what allowed Shiki to bring the pain to Souren Araya in the 5th movie.
It is, however, interesting to note that while Yorihime is from the moon, the gods she summons (yeah, that's one of her abilities) are not. They're Shinto, and thus (?) potentially killable by Regular!Shiki. I'm not sure how far that "These eyes of mine can kill anything, even if that thing happens to be God" actually goes with that.
So...
Shiki can kill Lunarians. Discuss.

Are you kidding? That's half the fun!
…
Okay, no — there are totally different reasons I create a setting, mainly having to do with how compelling it is, but crazy/stupid has been the equivalent of compelling enough times that I get what you're saying.
I mean, seriously. I'm as we speak derailing a story about zany school/magic/superhero/double life hijinks via time travel, by getting the MC dragged into an alternate dimension to be used as bait in a Hunting the Most Dangerous Game plot. And its the second chapter. How the hell is that not insane?

Nemo enim fere saltat sobrius, nisi forte insanit Deviantart. It sounds like a couple of stories may need to rely on the Rule of Cool here (or else break the Willing Suspension of Disbelief. I never was much of one for modern/futuristic/sci-fi/fantasy half-cyborg-kitty-man-dragon people kind of speculative fiction all mashed into one another.
Not that it's a bad thing, actually, that sounds really awesome if it was one right for comedy... half-cyborg-kitty-man-dragon... ya...

as of the 2nd of Nov. has 6 weeks for a broken collar bone to heal and types 1 handed and slowlyThe entire setting of my main story is basically an excuse for this, and even further there are numerous things included simply for the purpose of crossing the line multiple times. For example, a skin-coat-wearing low-grade Eldritch Abomination and an Omnicidal Maniac necromancer having a tea party in a catacomb.
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception. You know, for some reason I don't find that insane at all, but in fact, can definitely picture them doing something like that.
Maybe I'm the insane one here...

A crack post. Do not take anything below this seriously(doubt that anyone would, but just to be sure).
(takes a deep breath) How many of you writers write/plan/design your work just as an excuse to make a setting where crazy stuffs can happen?
When I told my friend that in one of the scenes from my story an immortal gets fired at an alien mothership as a human projectile bia Space Gun (which is used for launching satelites to orbit) and an alien space dragon size of a small galaxy, even though I suck at science, never read any sci-fi novel besides Jurassic Park series, and it's supposed to be a fantasy, he called me insane.
Anyone here got told the same or similar?
