Any characters in the Kitchen at the moment?

...Reading Killer Clown's older post, I'm guessing that's a no. Sorry for not posting yet, I was away at a graduation celebration.

I'm working on what will hopefully be the final version of the map right now - and I'm seriously considering letting someone else handle this thing. Trying to fill up the empty spaces with reasonably realistic, yet not horribly in-depth, places is starting to get a little frustrating.

@Lockedbox: If your offer still stands, I'd be more than happy to let you have a shot at the map.

I also updated the OP, albeit slightly - I changed the opening description around. I still feel like it's missing something, given how short it is.

I think everyone was fine with morning (at least, I didn't see any objections to it). I'm probably going to bump it from early morning to mid-late morning, though.

Morning suits me fine. Early would probably work better, but I can write around mid-late too.

There's been a lot of stuff rearranged. District 9 is probably going to become a residential district unless someone has a better idea, and the undefined building near the library is likely to become related to the library in some way.

We're getting there - after District 9 and the undefined building are dealt with, all that needs done is making a nicer map and adding the bus stations, and it will be ready to go.

...District 9 is residential? Was that intentional?

hey yeah sure, I'm up for it if you are. Just pm me some details of the areas you'd like help with and I'll have a stab at them tomorrow.

Skyscrapers (and one that seem to be ~2km tall?) in the "historical district" and a theatre, library and a memorial park that isn't?

Is the skyscrapers historical or have the city newly replaced old historical buildings with these? The "and oddly enough newer" implies it's the former.

@Tera: The reference is intentional (I needed a filler name for that district while I figured out what to put there) - the fact that it wound up being the residential district is an odd coincidence. It's not going to be called that on the final map, however.

@m8e: The skyscrapers are historical, yes. Odd American thing. The park is considered a separate district, and the library is lumped with the theater and stadium in what I'm terming the "Entertainment District."

Edit: The final version of the rough map.◊ District 9 is now the Residential district, and I've decided to make the last unused building a convention center. The next version of the map is going to bear resemblance to m8e's version and will have the bus stops labelled.

Just a thought. For City (and future threads in general), we should have the OP explaining the whole mess and the first character post separated out — and then have a mod sticky the former so it's available for easy reference.

Are you on a different computer than usual and recently logged in? Because this wiki's system isn't case sensitive; i.e., typing in StuffBlowingUp or StuFFbloWingUP will both direct you to Stuff Blowing Up, albeit with different capitalizations. You may have made a typo while putting in your username.

By "whole mess," do you mean just the "This is a CDT" blurb or the "This is a CDT" blurb and the description of the thread's setting? Either way I think it's a good idea - I'm just looking for clarification.

Speaking of City: The final version of the map is more or less complete - it both looks nicer than the rough map and has bus stops added. In addition to all the stuff mentioned on the previous map, there's also been a hospital added. Much thanks to Lockedbox for finishing it up.

I'm probably going to tweak the OP some more and the thread could probably use a page for location descriptions and whatnot, but in any event the thread's start is imminent.

I am swamped with work but I can handle a late entrance if I must.

I still feel kind of out of it, but the best way to fix that might be to actively participate again. So I'm more or less ready.

I think... I think I'm ready. There's something I wanted to get done first, but with some dedication I can probably finish it tomorrow. Aside from that, just a few kinks to work out with entering the thread. So I'm set.

BTW just wanted to make sure: any schools/colleges would be counted under residential area and restaurants and stores in commercial district, right?
