Character Development Thread--Discussion

Thanks, I'll start the post right now.

Should have a post out by tonight. Didn't write as much as I wanted to for one particular section, but that's just me forgetting again that writing takes much longer than thinking up ideas. Probably gonna be a bit of a busy week, so it's better that I don't keep you guys waiting any longer.

I was under the impression that Space Liner was going to start after Frontier ended, but I suppose it could start a bit earlier if that's okay with everyone.

@ Graveyard group: Whoops, I did mean Patches. And I was referring to the translation of Armory Knight's growling. I had Friedrich hear it as some sort of voice but not be able to understand what it was saying, and I thought that with Moreena and the Sentinel being more powerful beings, they would be able to understand it better.

Also, with Snowy Foxes' predicament, I'm beginning to reconsider sending one of the Four Bardic Sisters (Gliosem, specifically) to the Ritter Clinic. Not sure how activity in that group will be affected, and we haven't heard much from the other characters in there anyway. In fact, I might send her to Yukijou-minato instead (the other snowy location), if nobody minds having a singing fairy(ish person) around. I also plan on having one of my other characters appearing there briefly soon... exactly who is a surprise.

I also just realized that both (groups of) characters listed under the Expy entry on Dream II's page (as well as the sole Captain Ersatz) are of my creation... I feel so unoriginal, LOL.

I feel bad about not posting again today. I keep losing track of time, and by the time I realize it, it's too late at night for me to want to take more time working on a post.

I did some research, found out that the only remaining ocean liner, the RMS Queen Mary 2 has a lot of amenities. 4 dining areas, 2 specialty dining areas, 5 pools, 2 fancy bars, a pub, a tearoom, a dessert bar, a lounge, a golf simulator, a sports court, a gym, a spa, a library, a photo gallery, an art gallery, a bookstore, a ballroom, a nightclub, a theatre, and a planetarium(that also doubles as a movie theatre). The ship also has over 1300 staterooms and suites.

As for accommodations on the Star Liner, I'd say 85% of the rooms should be standard staterooms, 15% fancy suites. We should probably use some of the deck plans of modern liners(readily available online) as the blueprint for our Star Liner. Or we could just wing it.

I also realized why we wouldn't be taking any stops on the trip. Many planets would be inhospitable at best, and downright lethal at worst. But, they would probably be very pretty from orbit.

I don't mind at all if you send one of your characters over to Yukijou-minato (Yukijō-minato?).

Don't worry, I myself have a few Expys running around my universe, though many times I incorporate bits of other characters into the mix. Ayako was originally an expy of Mami, and Mari is a Public Domain Character.

Hello again. I had posted a few pages ago, voicing my desire to join the Character Development Thread. Back then I had only a few ideas for my setting and characters, but I have progressed a little about it, and I hope you don't mind if I join in the next thread, Space Liner.

We certainly don't mind. All you really need to do to join a CDT is familiarize yourself a bit with the thread thus far and choose somewhere to add your character. (It probably is easier to join a new thread than an ongoing one).

Especially at the rate the current threads are progressing at.

Paging Will De Regio and Novis for Ayako and Half, respectively. Or y'all just want to give me the go-ahead to carry on a post w/o regards to them? Or did I just plum miss something?

Meanwhile, I've managed to Squick myself thinking about a traumatic injury Cynthia received in her past.

I've also just realized she's still wearing her bloodied gloves. These things are connected.

Hey y'all, I'm feeling a bit better now, but finals are still a thing and I have to take care of my mom (recovering from knee replacement surgery) so I'll be busy for a while longer. Mostly just wanted to say thank you for the support and also I suddenly realized that I totally fucked up the proper use of "stepbrother." Heinrich and Friedrich may have referred to each other as stepbrothers in the thread but the are actually half brothers. Just... the more you know, I guess.

Looks like I'll most likely postpone posting until tomorrow.

I can see I'm due to post in Frontier but last night I was feeling a bit down and tonight's been taken up by visitors and having to do my evening's remote-access-to-work stuff. Will try to get something posted in the next couple of days.

Week and a half left of classes. Less actually, since next week is just finals, and might happen over just two days. Anyway, it will be— or at least should be a pretty busy time for me with studying and whatnot, but if the chance arises, I'll try to find time to post. Waiting on Blackfire and maybe WillDeRegio before proceeding with the bed and breakfast folks (and those in close proximity).

So how's it hanging?

I'm only taking two classes- my first final is tomorrow, and it's from a professor who likes making his tests random and stupid. But at least this is the last time I'll ever be taking a class from him. After that, I just need to add a tweak to a programming project after work on Friday, turn that in, and that'll be the end of that professor. My second final is a takehome, and I have about two other things for this other class that are all due Monday. Starting next week, I'll be working at my job full time, and I'll be all good for posting by the end of the workday Monday at the latest. Really says something about how tired I am of school that I consider working forty hours per week a good school break.

During this past academic year (Fall 2015-Spring 2016), I had to take more classes taught by crappy professors than classes taught by good professors. These crappy professors gave the overall impression that they didn't care about anybody, which subsequently makes it really hard for me to care about the class or material, but I have to maintain a certain GPA for my scholarship, so I had to somehow make myself care and put effort into producing passable work for them. On material that they taught very badly and which Google isn't much help with. It sucked and the year made me take my first true allnighters of my college career just because I found it impossible to care until the last possible moment. I'd procrastinate by just doing random stuff for hours that even I could barely describe.

TL;DR: This was my life last school year.

Regarding me posting for The Midnight Stitcher & Noire: How tough is the monster at the Forest of Bone? Cause Midnight Stitcher is like a 15 on a 1-to-10 Strength Scale- Though I figured he would want Ayako to have the finishing blow, so likely he would be more supportive in this fight.

Regarding Noire, is Phoebe still going to be there or not? Rather important to know. Though overall, in regards to my recovery- The pain is mostly a minor distraction now, but I still have five weeks to go. So I'll focus more on the Patches posts, alright?

I think I am going to let Moreena or Caleb react first this time. Sentinel would rather try to understand what is happening than take initiative, for multiple reasons.

A scale of 1 to 10 without context is meaningless to me. For example, Ayako is capable of unleashing an attack in the ballpark of several gigatons via Forbidden Dangerous Technique. In otherwords, she could destroy a mountain with an umbrella. I can't believe I just said that... Normally, her attacking power is only capable of reasonably damaging a Main Battle Tank or a small building, due to her magically enhanced weaponry.

As for the Faux-Gashadokuro, it's about as durable as a small building, and it's relatively easy to pull apart. However, it can pull itself back together, due to being a giant artificial skeletal youkai.
