Okay, I get it, nobody cares. Anyone care about the name of the new trope, or should I flip a coin?
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up."Maid of Sexy" is clever. Use that one.
While I'm here, I left a note on the discussion page with no response.
Are the anime examples actually this trope, or are they Meido and being shoehorned into this trope?
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Well the Negima one is confusing... The second anime she is hardly in a maid outfit... ahh now I found what its talking about. I would say that is entirely ment to be sexy◊, the Maid fetish is everywhere in Negima in various forms.
The Differences between French Maid and Meido are confusing as hell... I am not sure what goes where. I mean This is listed under Meido but it was a specific outfit that was chosen for them because of the Maid Fetish, Fanservice and Panty Shots.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!French Maid Outfit is the pre-existing term if the trope is just focusing on the clothing.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickSo French Maid is Maid Fanservice while Meido is Submissive Maid with a chance of Fanservice? Hmm I think examples will need some sorting if that's the case. The latter is very well encased in Japanese with Maid Cafe s and series like Sore Demo which entirely revolve around it however not all Animes are like that. The manga page I posted should go on French Maid while the anime screenshot example should go on Meido.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!French Maid is a specific maid outfit that is commonly worn in western works. It is primarily black, with white accents, and frilly. It has a white apron, and a little white hat. It also often involved a feather duster. The image on the page shows it. It's not about how sexualized it it. It's about that outfit vs. not that outfit. It doesn't matter how sexy a maid is, if they aren't wearing that outfit, they aren't a French Maid.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickAhh ok I have gone Crosseyed. Almost every Meido wears one hmm although recently blue colored pops up now and then... But the submissiveness of Meido is the key to that subtrope right? Use of "Master" over polite Moe etc. Or just Japanese maids, Maid Cafe, Cosplay ect personality doesn't matter? Because some examples on Meido don't really act the part they just wear the outfit. (like the manga example above.)

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!I'm sorry ccoa, I missed that this had been brought up again. I'd say that there's sufficient evidence for the split, and the names French Maid (for the character) and French Maid Outfit (for the outfit when it's not being worn by a French Maid character) would be the names I'd prefer.
Shima, French Maid is also a character type — a servant who is snippy, pert, and saucy to anyone not her employer. And French. Particularly common in Christie-era mysteries, but present both before and after that, as well.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.The difference is thus:
French Maid: Character. Sexy, saucy, pert. Very flirty and sexually aggressive. Not submissive at all.
Meido: Character. Japanese fantasy derived from above. Submissive, more of a control fantasy (such as being called "master").
French Maid Outfit: Fanservice costume based on a French Maid. Not a character, but rather a costume trope like Sexy Santa Dress.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.So examples from both pages will be moving to that new trope (so this is solving my issue.)
I don't even want to think about where to place Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei's Tsundere Maid Cafe though as it floats between the first two tropes constantly. (Which is probably the whole point of the skit.)

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!If they're just wearing the outfit, then yes.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. Dick^^^ I'd say "flirtatious" rather than "sexually aggressive", personally, but that's minor.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Are we going to do anything with this one? I still think that this is a case where the French Maid character type and French Maid outfit should be separate, and Meido as a character type is different from either.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.French Maid and Maid Of Moe are already divided. Examples might need some cleanup. (There are also some lingering links that still use Medio as the supertrope instead of the Maid Index)
As for the Outfit?
French Maid Outfit with Maid Of Sexy Outfit as the redirect. That matches the pattern for all the other "Maid Of" tropes:

I can easily split French Maid, and in fact I shall do so today.
I don't have a clue about the Meido examples, however, not being a fan of anime. Someone else will have to sort those.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.It's split. I suppose the best thing for Meido is to make a new TRS thread which will hopefully attract people who know something about the examples.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.I can change the thread tag if that would make things easier.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. Dick@Sackett- Those are some great name choices. Made Of Win.
HodorI think French Maid Outfit is clearer. It's not just any sexy maid outfit. It's a specific costume.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickThe thread tag? Not sure what that is.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.The name of the trope in the thread title puts a tag on the wiki page linking back to the discussion.
If it's changed from French Maid to Meido the discussion can continue in this thread.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Like that. We are now discussing Meido. Continue here.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickThanks.
Okay, I moved the examples that appeared to be the costume only to French Maid Outfit. If an anime fan could go through the others, I'd appreciate it.
The description of Meido needs work, it says little about the trope. Reading it, I'm not sure what it's supposed to be about, but I think we said it was a character type designed to appeal to the Moe demographic and a subservience fantasy.

As some of you might remember, this article came about when Maid was renamed Meido. We decided to soft split the character and the costume on the same page and wait and see if either got large enough for its own page.
Well, I'd say there's enough examples of both to support a hard split of this article into French Maid and French Maid Outfit (or Maid Of Sexy Outfit?).
