Lots of tropers do music. So why don't we all do music together?

It would go something like this:
We discuss what we want the song to sound like/be about. Once that's decided on, Troper A records their part, sends it to Troper B, who combines it with their stuff and sends it to Troper C, etc etc until it reaches Troper Final, who does the vocals.

What we need:
Guitarist(s): Juancarlos 11, Lolipod Distortion
Bassist(s)
Singer(s): Lolipod Distortion, Furiko Maru, Diamonnes, Loni Jay WE HAVE ENOUGH SINGERS, VOLUNTEER FOR SOMETHING ELSE
Pianist(s)
Drummer(s): Sunshine Werewolf
DJ(s)?
Roadie(s)
Anything else that could sound good(s): Sabre's Edge (Clarinet)

Possible Names:
Sultan Battery
Rhinosaurus
Troper Band

Who's interested?

I'm playing guitar. I can play both lead and rhythm.

It's not exactly naive. And it can happen. But it's tough. And definetly worthwhile.

Depending on how long this takes, if I can get my shit set up in time, I'll contribute vocals.

Will send in example when I can get recording stuffs set up.

Soubnd suggestion: Acoustic and electric hard rock seasoned to taste with electro and Celtic or classical.

I wish I could do something more, but I don't have access to my own computer right now. I can attempt lyrics on a freelance basis, if ya like.

Oh, and have a free Good Name For A Rock Band: Sultan Battery.

Ninja'd by a reasonable request for proof of ability. Now, this is the closest I've ever come to writing something a rock group would conceivably play (if they were of the maudlin or 'the medieval era is hardcore and awesome no matter how silly the lyrics are' dispositions), but y'can't have this one (if you even want it, it's pretty purpley and lame); I've already set it to music and stuff. This is just an audition thing.

Rise from your ashes, my brother

Oh dance again in the round

Sing to my heart your dark promise

Ever the princess you found

Believe, my sweet Doubting Thomas

Rush in without reason to love her

Ink-dark and wise and ever-dishonest

Decadence straining to smother

Echo in seraphic sound

Call for a spin of the gambling wheel

Cool blows the wind off the clash of their steel

Maybe this battleground never was real

Show me a scandal, oh, see how they run,

Join in a turn of the Wheel of Fortune.

So, yeah, kinda lame, but I'd say I'm not completely terrible, considering I managed to keep up the Magic-Square-Rhyme all the way up to the bridge. There's a second verse, but I've attention whored long enough, I think.

Somehow I doubted the markup would work.

Everyone gets to contribute one (1) Good Name For A Rock Band if they so choose.

My vote is for "Rhinosaurus" (and yes, that's intentionally misspelled)

Name? Troper Band. Yes I'm a simple man. Shuddup.

So do you have anything to actually contribute to the band?

This really does look interesting, but I'll be strictly secondary/tertiary/useless for performance purposes unless you can work a clarinet part into the music.

I do have a decent ear for music, though. I might be able to help with the composing. Emphasis on "might".

@Sabre: We'll give you a backing track, and you try to see what you can come up with.

Also, does anyone know how to improve a recording?

Sabre: A clarinet could be useful.

I know, my critique still holds. You could've improven the spoke part. Anyway, if you got a singing track, bring it.

Sheet music, anyone? Even if it's just the chords and the melody, it'll be a help. Oh, and a tempo track. It won't be good if one person's singing at 120 bpm and another's playing at 144.

In that case, how about a raw MP 3 of the backing music only? Chord patterns, MIDI, anything? What key is the whole thing going to be in, major/minor, structure? I know this sounds complex, but they're real issues if you're going to coordinate multiple instruments. I speak from experience.

I agree with Sabre, we should be able to form backing tracks. As for chords, it's not that hard to discuss them.

@Loni: Like I'd said, we send to each volunteer, if you believe you can't contribute, you send it to someone else wth a note saying that yo didn't. No biggie.

Alright, I think that's more than enough singers.

Sabre: I don't think tempo should be that big of a problem. We can just decide on one together, or the first person starts one and the rest match it.
