Well sonic is the fgastest thing alive, and he should feel fast I think. Like if Sonic in a sonic game feels slow, that's kind of a bad thing since it contradicts his very character.
Sonic is fgast???
http://steamcommunity.com/id/Xan-Xan/I mean, I think it's possible to overdo the speed, but Sonic Adventure, Adventure 2, Heroes and Shadow all had plenty of speed in gameplay. 2006 was going to, but they had the idea that Sonic would run faster the more rings he had, but that he would run slower to begin with when he didn't have any rings to compensate. By the time the game was released, they had gotten the "run slower at first" part in, but kinda forgot the "runs faster with more rings" part.
And Unleashed... used that system. Terribly.
I don't like the whole "Rings make you faster". The thing is, I prefer Sonic fast in short bursts or cutscenes only. Any time he's super fast, he becomes uncontrollable(although the original Genesis versions didn't have as much of a problem with this, the rest of the 2D games failed to make it not a problem) as is. I admit he could've been a little faster, but I prefer my platforming slow in general. Fast platforming is just terrible and makes for Trial-and-Error Gameplay.
To each his own.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Sonic Colors... not meh. It is my personal favorite 3D Sonic game, gameplay-wise.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.I like a controllable sense of speed. It's simply exhilariting to tear through the landscape at breakneck speeds flawlessly :D
D'you think they'll ever implement Hedgehog Time kind of Bullet Time for Sonic?
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Whoa wait up now
If you hate fast platforming...I think you better go play Mario or something. The faster platforming is partly(not wholly) what gives Sonic games their own sense of style and distinguishes them, they've always been faster than other platformers of their respective era, even Sonic 1 was fast for its day. Sure the adventure games are fast but compared to Generations they seem almost slow in comparison. I would say Unleashed was actually good about giving that sense of speed Sonic is known for and bringing it up to date, now as for level design and control that's a different story but I think they went the right step in that direction, as Generation shows us.
I felt I was able to do that in Gens.
So, Sonic Colours, I just took on challenge mode - 104 minutes. :3
Now all that's left is the red rings, the game zones, and the S ranks.
I haven't tried that yet :V I only have the 3DS version of Generations
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Sonic games need fast platforming, thats what it makes the game unique,
Also, it a fast blue hedgehog, it would be jarring to just rely on slow platforming
http://steamcommunity.com/id/Xan-Xan/Is fast platforming platforming while running fast? I've always thought Sonic gameplay switches between fast running and platforming carefully; I very rarely see platforming while running fast in any Sonic game.
But please correct me if there are instances of my definition of fast platforming.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. The livestream ended a short while ago. Nothing new.
Well, that's pretty disappointing if there's nothing new.
But Sonic games take a lot of effort to make. Let's be patient with Sonic Team.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Sonic games do switch between the two at times. But then there are the times when you need to platform while still running fast(which will only slightly slow you down), its not really used that much and when it is its not that bad. Other times(mainly the Genesis era games) you use your high speed to make get high enough(lol) to the higher platforms to take shortcuts or something like that.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I always thought it was platforming you could do quickly. I think Modern Sky Sanctuary in Gens had that kind of platforming.
Next game: Sonic Adventure 3, Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode III, Sonic Colours 2, Knuckles Chaotix 2 or some Olympics thing again.
I'm betting on the Olympics personally. Or maybe Riders.

I heard from what I believe was this thread that SEGA was done with the Adventure subseries.
"i'm like the pimpmaster hustledaddy of all snippy bookshrews" -Dave StriderAnd there is no source for that where they said "done forevarz". Not a damned thing.
On the other hand, we have a rapper who has only ever done work for Sonic Adventure 2 say he was working on new Knuckles music for some Sonic project.
Will Eggman Nega ever come back though? I doubt that Eggman would want anything to do with him after Nega attempted to destroy the planet in Rush Adventure.
Humanity wants equality yet supremacy stands in the way. Destroy that and we can embrace equality.Who was that in response to? I guess another Rivals or Rush game might be neat though.

And Eggman Nega was trapped in Ifrit's world.
I am completely, utterly, and thoroughly done with Sola Sonica and 2D
@Physical Stamina: I stand by my statement.
@unnoun: Only the Mach Speed sections gave me actual trouble. I could beat any other area pretty easily.(I have not played the final story, so let's discount that) I loved the multiplayer. Except that Silver can't do anything similar to Wall jumping without getting stuck. :| Otherwise, tons of fun. I remember using Silver to send Shadow way into the abyss in multiplayer after easily getting him outside the level barrier. So stupid, so great. And yeah, they were slow, but I preferred that over speedy mcspeed style that the newer games seem to love. Silver needed that Boost Chip though. :/ I thought the Super Sonic Chip could've been nice, but... I don't mind. He has an Infinite Jump thing which is just as good.
