I know this scenario just screams of Cliché Storm but bare with me.

Ok, there's this Shrinking Violet/Dark Action Girl (FYI, they are high school students) who has a crush on The Hero(that guy from Is My Character A Marty Stu?). She loves him but Cannot Spit It Out because she thinks that he wouldn't like a dysfunctional girl like her. Just when her feelings for him starts to become uncontrollable, serial murders involving the Shells (think it as zombie/vampire) and it's her job as the heiress The Clan to hunt supernatural beings down and kill whatever is drawing them.

She soon realizes that more she hunts, more insane she becomes and her desire toward The Hero starts to turn into desire to kill him. Then she learns, from an unnamed informant, that the Shells are drawn The Hero himself.

So basically, if she has to kill The Hero because if she doesn't, she will end up killing him anyway.

Does this scenario make any sense? If so, how would you deal with this? I know I'm asking too much; this is something that I have to solve myself as the author of this story, but still, I'd like some help. Also, is there any other works that feature this kind of dillema? I think this concept is rather familiar but can't point out exact examples and trope.

What do you think?

Well in theory it could work since she seems to be genuinely crazy, if functional. The biggest plot hole in the scenario though is why she trusts and unnamed informant(read stranger) so damn much. Does she go out and try to verify what she is telling her, or does she just trust the information implicitly? Not really seeing why her love for the hero would merge with a desire to kill him before she learns that he is drawing the shells either. I suppose it could be handwaved as Mad Love, but that would be a lame copout.

^ Sounds like A Wizard Did It - the stuff's making her go nuts.

Well, there are three ways this could go:

  • Take a Third Option if you want a more idealistic story, but you'll run the risk of having it seem cheap.

  • She dithers and angsts about it, delaying her choice until the choice is made for her, kind of like a Zombie Infectee

  • She cries and angsts, and then decides that she has to kill him and if she does it now she can prevent suffering (killing him humanely, plus it sounds like the things she's fighting hurt Innocent Bystanders as well)

The latter two depend mainly on her character. You know her character way better than anyone else, being the author.

If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.

Agreeing with Alkthash's criticisms.

Adding one of my own: wouldn't she want to find out how the hero is connected to the zampires?

It would probably be better to find out on her about his connections to the Shells rather than some mysterious informant. She can then confront him with this information personally and find out what the heck is going on. This accomplishes two things: 1) it makes for a good plot moment and 2) it gives her a reason to talk to the Hero and establishes her character developement.

ADDED: Alternatively, she could just kill herself.

For those of you who have criticized my work, thank you. You guys are really helpful and constructive.

oops. I was a bit tired when I posted this and I forgot the key details.

[up][up][up][up] The informant is actually the Big Bad, who wants her to snap and fully embrace her...crazier side. She has met him when she was younger and at this point of the plot, she sees him as something of a big brother and trusts him a lot, although his Depraved Bisexual behavior and No Sense of Personal Space tend to creep her out a little.

[up][up] The Big Bad explains, although mixed with truth and bull, in minute details how it is related.

Also, no matter what kind of solution it is, it shouldn't involve The Hero getting killed because he's part of the Big Bad's plan as well.

Urgh, feel so tired today...
