After hearing it in a stage show, I'm growing fond of Marilyn Manson's cover of Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This). Maybe even more than the original. But I can't stand the rest of his output — just not my cup of tea.
I also like Bad Romance. 'tis catchy. I find the rest of Lady Gaga's mainstream pop output unimpressive (again, not really my style of music).

We have this thread already. Two of them, in fact.

last.fm | RYMI've never really been into Incubus, still not into a lot of their stuff. But my friend introduced me to their track "Punch-Drunk" and that song is simply BEAUTIFUL. I rarely EVER use that word, it's just a beautiful track, with amazing instrumentation and dream-like melodies and lyrics that are at once trivial and superficial yet are profound and poignant. Just an amazing freaking song.
Personally, the only Marilyn Manson songs I like ARE his covers, and his covers are usually better than the songs he covered.
I nuked two of the newer threads and locked two of the older threads.

Pantera's sound just isn't for me, but I like the song "Cemetery Gates". The main reason is that Phil Anselmo (sp?) sings this song melodically, and proves he actually has a really good singing voice, instead of doing that shout-roar thing he does on later songs.
I gotta say I've never been into Maroon 5. Not that I necessarily think their music is bad but it's pretty much the epitome of bland pop rock to me.
However, remixed by the right guy ... it can be pretty awesome.
You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door. There is a small mailbox here.I really like Eleanor Rigby and Twist and Shout, but that's about it from the Beatles.
Out of curiosity, how much of the Beatles have you listened to? And what kind of music do you usually listen to?
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Sorry to say, but I saw you post coming a mile away.
On topic, I'm a pretty big detractor of Metallica for the crime of being the world's most boring metal band, but Creeping Death, Sad But True and Bleeding Me are legitimately good songs. Maybe even great songs.
I'm of the mind that if someone says they don't like the Beatles, they just haven't heard the right songs by them (since they have tons of variance in the sounds they explored) and have only heard their hits. It's an approach that's worked for me to help people out before!

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I don't like Don Williams much, but I like "Tulsa Time", "Some Broken Hearts Never Mend", "Heartbeat in the Darkness", and "Lord Have Mercy on a Country Boy". Basically anything where he turns down the sap a little bit.
Also not a fan of John Denver becuase I find him equally sappy, but I like "Some Days Are Diamonds, Some Days Are Stone" and "Rocky Mountain High".
U2-One
REM-Everybody Hurts
Pat Benetar-Hell is for Children
New Order-True Faith
The Cure-Purple Haze (it's a Hendrix cover, not sure if it counts)
Pink Floyd - Have A Cigar, Comfortably Numb, most of their debut, and a handful of songs from Dark Side Of The Moon
I'll check back into this thread when I can remember what other bands I don't really like or follow but have a song or two that I enjoy.
There are people that have heard plenty of The Beatles' music and still don't really like them or only like some of their work, although they are not particularly common. The astoundingly pretentious yet musically omnivorous rock critic Piero Scaruffi is a good example.
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.Well, that's partly why I'm asking how much he's heard
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Makes Me Wonder from Maroon 5 is alright.
"Monsters are tragic beings. They are born too tall, too strong, too heavy. They are not evil by choice. That is their tragedy."This. I've listened to every album the Beatles have ever released. Nothing of their's really clicked with me, though,
Alright, fair enough.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I quite like "Sunday Morning" by Maroon 5. So much so that I had no idea it was a Maroon 5 song!
Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianPaint It Black by The Rolling Stones.

Katy Perry - "Teenage Dream". Somehow this is the one single of hers I don't hate. I think there's something about the pre-chorus that appeals to me, and it might also be the eighties synth-pop vibe, or even the fact that I associate it with a Black Comedy youtube sketch.
Taylor Swift - "Stay Stay Stay". I heard this song in the first place because it was on a friend's "year end" mix for 2013 note . The odd thing is that there's pretty much nothing that separates this song from other ones I've heard by her, aside from 1) it's not an overplayed radio hit, and 2) she's kind of known for breakup songs and this is more of a Silly Love Song. Maybe the appeal is summed up by the giggly Studio Chatter at the end of the song itself - "It's so fun!".

You might like Taylor's first album. It's prone to all sorts of Early-Installment Weirdness that makes it a lot different from her poppy breakup songs. I still think "Tim McGraw" is the best thing she ever recorded.
Let's see...for me, there's Just Like This and Nookie by Limp Bizkit- the former for actually putting together a good song without Fred killing it with a Cluster F-Bomb attack, the latter being because it just all comes together so well. If they could've sounded more like those two songs, why didn't they?
