I just accept personal opinion (wish, but can't say fact...) that one shouldn't, ever, expect good story from video game. It's just not, at least the way I see it, designed for story telling. For the multiplayer part, I'm in a country where gaming consoles are not widespread (we have MASSIVE internet connection, though) so console multiplayer means nothing to me.
I started to play (thanks to my buddy, who I hope is reading this post) the game and I just love the way it's presented. I can't wait to actually play Boat Ride mission.

I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Frankly, I don't think the competing game (Bad Company 2) did a better job at multiplayer. Still had SMG whores, camping fucks that were even harder to get rid of, even more retarded team members than on COD...
Anyway, if anything, I'm looking forward to a decent shooter. Nothing more, nothing less.
Was Jack Mackerel. | i rite gudSounds like you guys aren't ever gonna find it, the things you just described as your irks (dumb teamates, campers, the occasional imbalanced weapon) are pretty much the meat & potatoes of almost any FPS.
D Roy's got the right idea; just appreciate it for what it is despite it's faults, and you'll start having more fun!

I enjoyed the first modern warfare, it felt very tight in terms of game play and story. MW 2 was good but the story was significantly worse then the first game. Spec ops was awesome though, split-screen co-op is always fun.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?Modern Warfare 2 is the worst game I've ever played. It was a complete disaster. Black Ops hasn't been much better, but at least it has zombies.
Whether you like it or not, COD is going downhill fast. With every title it gets worse. Unless they learn to change it up and add new things to the game, this series is going to eventually die out.
Everybody keeps claiming their game is a COD killer. You don't need to try and kill COD. It's commiting suicide.
I heard someone give a rather apt comparison that Modern Warfare is Jerry Bruckheimer compared to Battlefield's The Hurt Locker.
Really? Neither game's singleplayer seemed very different, they both relied on explosions and BOOM BOOM and whatnot. Aside from the style of play (COD is more arcadey).
Was Jack Mackerel. | i rite gudDon't you mean Michael Bay? Although they are too different.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Oh, fuck me.
I can some up that trailer thusly: "99% Flash and Explosions/1% Interesting" That one percent goes to the train bit in the England part because I have a soft spot for cinematic sequences involving trains, and that looks kinda interesting.
Other than that, this trailer felt just so BLAND. It's almost all just interchangeable action. They hardly make anything look new or exciting. It's even worse when Crysis 2 managed to pull of a fantastic depiction of war torn New York, and this doesn't seem to be able to top that in anyway. The Modern Warfare 2 trailers extended beyond "People shooting and things exploding" and it got my attention, but this was just flat out bland shit across the board.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...in b4 "bland shit and COD being redundant" joke
Looks like it'll be decent, IMO.

Was Jack Mackerel. | i rite gud^^As I said in the other MW 3 trailer thread- at least the French aren't depicted as running away from the battle or waving a white flag.
Probably this should be said, but regardless of what people now think of Modern Warfare, which really does seem to be wearing itself out, they better not use it as an excuse to bash all First-Person Shooter s.
Predict that it'll be ranked less than B-3.
Was Jack Mackerel. | i rite gudUnless the game utterly bombs it will outsell almost anything. Although if the new Infinity Ward does as badly as some expect them to.... Call Of Duty might go the way of Guitar Hero.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Hope it does, really. Can't keep using the same formula forever.
Was Jack Mackerel. | i rite gudThe trailer does look uninteresting, but I have a soft spot for urban warfare. I've never played any COD games before, might give this one a shot.
Problem is, Battlefield 3 is too reality based. Modern Warfare 3 seems to be an action movie, especially considering it happens directly after the events of MW 2 with the heroes on the lam.
Jonah FalconToo reality based? I think not. Too reality based is counterstrike.
I like MOH specifically because it's not a campaign some guy wrote a story to-it's real history made into a video game.
I honestly think Modern Warfare has a story with a ton of potential,it did have some interesting levels, bbut it's just not being tapped into.
They make more sense if you take the time to look at the newspaper clips in Makarov's safehouse, but, eh.
Also, too reality-based would be ARMA.
Was Jack Mackerel. | i rite gudCounter-Strike is realistic in the way everyone bunny hops all over the map.
Jonah FalconLooking forward to the action that is set in England during the game.
^^And in the fact that, y'know, you don't live long when people shoot at you, Kevlar does next to nothing when rifles get involved and you can't heal at all.

Okay, so I may have overgeneralized MW2's plot. It's just that the game's plot made little sense to me in a logical sense. I mean, Shepard trying to get Russia to invade America and succeeding? And no other countries helping America?
That said, the game's multiplayer was also horrible (noobtubes, killstreaks, etc). I guess I'm just pissed at Activision for everything it's done to the series.
