I think Dot NW would have worked better if marketed more as a spin-off with the original To S cast making guest appearances rather than being secondary party members taking a backseat to Emil and Marta. It could have been a game in the vein of Dragon Warrior Monsters (I've jokingly called it "Tales of Pokemon.") The true To S sequel could have been a different game entirely.

[up] DOTNW would have been better if. We could finish that sentence in a million ways, but it all goes down to one: 'if it have been a full budget game'. The new characters would have had better development (Alice and Decus playable + 3D models for all eight Centurions.) the old Symphonians would have been fully levelable-equippable, as well as the monsters (but nerfed to never reach 9999 stats...) sidequests NOT being all condensed into the Catz Guild, an explorable overworld, COSTUMES...

I know I am tiresome to hear, but look at Vesperia and its semi infinite budget. Symphonia 2 has my favorite characters and Xillia 2 (also a sequel! Huh.) my favorite gameplay and lore (I demand fanart of Agria, Drisselle and Rowen's Chromatus armors.) but Vesperia is my 'best complete pack'.

If we absolutely had to had the game as it is, I'd have preferred a Tales of Symphonia: Monsters, advertised as such. I want the monster system to return (and the Narikiri Costume system too! Hey, Narikiri Dungeon 1 was basically Phantasia 2...)

Change of subject: I got Senran Kagura and God Eater off the list, so aside from the digital games I am all set. Problem though: the gift code for Ressurrection I got with Rage Burst gives you a free 3.3 GB game! Can I spend the code / buy digital stuff but NOT download them until I want to? I guess I won't be playing Ress after I start RB, so can I delete it and have space for both Cyber Sleuth and Persona? Remember: 8 GB memory card.

Why would we want to play as bitchy Yandere loli and Extreme Doormat again? (I am biased, I don't like any of the Symphonia 2 cast much)

They really should have either chosen to go the Destiny 2 route and have none of the former cast playable or made them all full party members that weren't level locked. Half-assing it and making them level locked just made people angry. Also, not having a world map was a pretty terrible idea (but that one is almost definitely budget-related).

^^ Regarding your spoiler text (which I'm sure why you tagged it like that), yes, you can buy/use redemption codes for PSN products and download them later as long as you're using the same account that purchased them to do so. I tend to delete and redownload games because of memory issues on the PS 4 frequently, so I understand the need to manage your storage space.

Just a couple of things though:

1) I believe (or at least it's been my experience that) almost every game will also delete the save files when you delete the game, so you'll need to copy your save files somewhere else if you plan to pick up your deleted games again. Luckily, the Vita's Content Manager app makes this process easier.

2) God Eater Resurrection is an updated re-release of the first God Eater game, so if you care about that sort of thing, you may want to play Resurrection before starting God Eater 2 (I more or less just started God Eater 2 myself, but haven't finished God Eater Burst on my now-broken PSP Go. That said, a bunch of characters from the first game show up in 2, but I'm not sure just how often events from the first game are actually brought up in 2). Gameplay-wise, they both play the same, but 2 has more weapon options than the first game.

[up][up] Since when is Marta a yandere? She's a Clingy Jealous Girl at worst, and she gets better about that as the game goes on.

So I'm at the latest chapter of Rays, and I was wondering, can't Meredy speak english, or at least broken english. Because all she's speaking in right now is her native language.

I think its due to special earrings Keele made that allow players and the cast to understand Meredy. I don't think they were well made earrings though since it renders Meredy's surprisingly high class Melnics into broken English like you usually see.

Ah, I see. I just know the general plot of Eternia, and the only media of it I seen was that horrible anime of it, so I assumed Meredy could speak English, if with some difficulty.

Maybe after this chapter I'll emulate Eternia

I’d like to do that sometime. Problem is, I have no idea how emulators work. I’ve never used one, and normally I wouldn’t, but PS 1 Eternia is so ridiculously expensive that I don’t really have other options.

I hear there was a PSP version, and I’ve also heard that the PSP is much easier to emulate than the PS 1 (or at least has better emulators available), so would it be better to emulate that version?

If you have a mac, just use Open Emu. It's functions as an emulator for lots of systems, like PSP, PS 1, DS, GBA. If not, go to nicoblog. That's a pretty good place for RO Ms and emulators.

Red! Sapphi! EVERYONE should play Eternia! [tup]

The Eternia anime is by no means excellent (Abyss anime is how you do it right) but I treated it as a weird noncanon animated sidequest and you should too. And for the tanned skin fetishist like Kombat is great since everyone in that archipelago is a Celestian. You don't even have to watch it to the end (plot was predictable) I mainly did because Bikini Meredy is UNGH.

Sapphi... how are you in the Tales Series topic and DONT know how to emulate? You know it used to be Namco's FLAGRANT example in the No Export for You page, right? Anyway. I second the Nicoblog suggestion. It has a lot of tutorials about emulation and CFW. I used EPSXE for the PS 1 imports as soon as I learned of it (circa 2002) and PPSSPP is great for semi-potent computers and super easy to configure. Which reminds me...

Nicoblog also hosts Vita isos. Only a certain 'magic number' FW is hackable though, which you'll likely don't have if you haven't kept up with the sceners. I more or less solved my Vita's issues about save files transfer but it doesnt feel right. 'Saves could be altered to run CFW exploits' is Sony's excuse. They made the Vita so pirate-proof that they forgot to make it USER friendly!

[up] Watch it. Discussing emulation beyond the most basic of terms is against the rules. Besides, I already took care of it via PMs.

I want to play Eternia but I need to finish (well, restart and finish) Phantasia first. Before that, however, I need to finish either Final Fantasy VII or Trails in the Sky.

I consider myself warned. Yet I thought you could say names and spec requisites as long as you don't outright say WHERE to find the good stuff like roms and bios files. (Wait, we mentioned Nicoblog. FORGET IT. *memory-eraser ballpoint pen* idea)

Did it work? Ahem... sooo. What's your Phantasia version? I hope it's not the horrible IOS port. Best is the Phantasia X one.

I will break another lance in favor of Eternia by saying it was the best 2D game until Destiny R... but well, it's f*cking Destiny R. If they had made Destiny 2 with the same battle system it would have been hot sh*t. Hearts DS... tried, but going from 4 members' party to 3 and giving you the equivalent of 20 CC right at the start while giving bosses way too many Super Armor points to balance it out dragged the result down.

I tried playing Hearts.

Aside from having a time-and-a-half just getting the damn thing to run properly, I ended up stopping because something about it just wasn't fun. It feels blasphemous to say that since the LMBS is, by far, my favorite combat system of any game ever but it was.

I would’ve played Hearts R, but I don’t have a Vita and I don’t know anyone who does.

Thanks for the PM conversation, Zelenial. I don’t know if I feel like trying it right away, but it’s good to have the information for when I’m ready.

And yes, I know about the series’ history with No Export for You. The worst of it was before my time, though - I only got into the Tales series at the end of 2013, and by then, they’d gotten around to releasing Graces F and Xillia outside of Japan.

You can get a PSTV for like 40 or 50 bucks now, its worth it for the RP Gs on that system especially Hearts R which is just a blast to play on it.

Hearts R and Persona 4 Golden are great incentives to get a PSTV. If I ever actually have money, I might have to get one myself just because the Vita is the weeb machine.

Of course, the Switch seems to be replacing the Vita in that regard so I have to be careful.

I never even finished the Eternia anime. Gave up after I saw a scene where Keele and Meredy are trying to stop a flood or avalanche with the Greater Craymels, only they weren't showing up for some reason, and the OC swoops in and saves the day. It was at that point I realized the OC was a Mary Sue and gave up.

I would rather watch the X than this series. At least the X had some Rule of Cool going for it.

Apart from whitewashing Anise because of course. And I don't give two dog bollocks if she's just tanned or "anime dark skinned" in the games, lightening the skin tone of anyone with dark skin under some pretenious excuse is still shitty.
