You ever facepalmed at the character you're controlling?

You know, when they do something incredibly dumb for plot sake?

I mean, I don't think it's as bad when main characters from other media does it. But when it's the main playable character in a game..... it just kind of feels like YOU'RE doing something stupid. Since you connect with them more by playing as them. Then you just say, oh come on, I would never control you to do something THAT dumb.

An example I know a lot of people would be familiar with is Cloud handing the Black Materia to Sephiroth. But a later gaming experience I had with this is playing The World Ends With You with what Neku taking Yashiro's offer which I think might even be dumber.

So you have you ever had any gaming experience like that where you just Face Palm at your own playing character?

Lyner. He's half the reason I stopped playing it myself (and started reading the LP instead), the other half being that the game falls on harem anime tropes that I tend to dislike. It's one thing to be a nice guy, but it's another thing to just be a lunkhead.

Hell this kind of goes for the entire party. They start out decent enough, but then sort of end up becoming Lyner's groupies, and lose some of their personality in the process ("We don't entirely agree with your decisions but we won't argue about it because you're the hero.").

To be fair, Cloud did that because he was getting mind-controlled.

It looked more like Sephiroth convinced him kind of. I'm not sure actually, I was a lot younger when I completed it.

Persona 4. Hot springs scene. YMMV (everyone else thinks the scene is a CMOF), but my character playing along with Yosuke's perverted schemes made me do a few wallbangs. I didn't even get to pull an I Can Explain when I walked in on the girls bathing by accident.

I was so furious that I committed suicide by Shadows the next day.

I'm gonna have to agree with the previous "everything Terra did in Birth by Sleep". That's the first thing I thought of, looking at this topic, and I don't think it will ever change. He's pretty much the epitome of "The path to hell is paved with good intentions". It's like he was born super gullible or something. I can't say anymore, or else it would be spoilersville, but yeah.

Alex Mercer in Prototype has to be one of the biggest cutscene dumbasses I've encountered in a while.

He can absorb people's memories by eating them. He can also disguise himself as anyone he's eaten. So, when he finally meets the guy with the super duper classified information that he wants, does he sneak up on him and get his eat on?

Fuck no! He pretty much goes "Sup, I'm Alex Mercer" has a long, rambling conversation which buys Mc Mullen enough time to grab a pistol and paint the walls with his own brains.
