White Rose

So at work a few weeks ago (because during the monotonous chore of scanning people's items, my mind understandably wanders) I thought of a fic to write with the working title of "White Rose". See, it basically came from the idea, "Can a blatant parody/God Mode Sue still be an interesting character?" It needs some tweaking, sure, but I'd really love to see what tropers think. A few of the characters include:

Meredith Susanna White

• The villain of our story. (possible Villain Protagonist)
• She has the ability to bend roses to her will.
• Extremely beautiful (while still something of a social outcast), she can get her agenda taken care of often without using her powers.
• A head of long, flowing, white hair and one green, one blue eye. (natural colors).
• She likes to hang out in cemeteries.
• Wants to completely control her home town of Violet Beach, California.

Alexander Rose

• A hero.
• No real "power" but is quite good with a sword due to his sword training (Kendo or Fencing—still not sure).
• Fairly popular and preppy. He has lots of friends.
• Black hair, brown eyes.
• Digs the beach.
• Unaware of Mary's abilities, he tends to pick on her from time to time for her weird hair and eyes by calling her "Granny" or "Dog Girl" for starters.

Alice Rose

• Alex's sister; keeps him from being a total douchebag.
• Clairvoyant to a degree.
• Neither popular nor outcast
• Black hair, brown eyes.
• Her room is her haven.
• Aware of Mary's abilities (but not her motives) and Alex's bullying. She thinks Mary's weaker than she really is. For now just waiting for Mary to react somehow and teach her brother a lesson.

I've also got two ideas for either potential characters, or protagonists of their own stories.

Gregory Wilde

• Slacker genius.
• Brown hair, green eyes.
• If he can sleep there, he's cool to chill there.
• Jeremy's best friend. As of now, no real connection to the other characters, but could be Alice's boyfriend.

Jeremy Young

• Good 'ole boy from Texas.
• Super human speed (but not ala The Flash. More like 0-60 in 10 or so seconds so no Super-Speed Trope link here. Well...unless you count that one.)
• Blond hair, blue eyes.
• Likes going to the only ranch in Violet Beach (Greg can sleep there, so he's cool with it)
• Greg's best friend.

I was wondering if this sounded as good to everyone else as it does to me. I tend to come up with ideas I think are super special awesome, but a year or two later, it ends up being retarded to me.

The thing about making God Mode Sues work is that they need to be around the right characters. I don't know how you plan to have the relationships between your characters play out but my own God-Mode Sue is paired off with her husband as a Battle Couple.

Hmm. I was thinking about depicting her as wholly disinterested in everyone save for young Mr. Rose.

Well, to avoid making it feel like she's giving all her attention to just one character, make sure that she's given plenty of interaction with other characters. That's what I like about my own God-Mode Sue: She actively participates in the odd ball shenanigans of the other characters and doesn't reserve all her attention on her husband. And, if you were wondering, I'm not playing my God-Mode Sue as a Parody Sue. The God Mode is part of her character.

It's going to be really hard to keep people from utterly detesting Mr Rose for being a bully.

So, she's supposed to be a Sue? A parody can be funny, and very good. A Sue is a badly written character. I don't think you want to create a Sue, you want a Parody Sue

The thing with God-Mode Sue is that they're only one character. Find ways to keep them out of important scenes so that characters can be in peril outside of her "Sphere of Influence".

@Ettina: Yeah, but the story is more or less from Marideth's POV, so she's going to be really sympathetic.

@Ultrayellow: She's only as much a parody sue in the fact that her name is literally Mary Sue and she's got all the physical traits as such. Plus the fact that she's bullied, yet still has a big fan following. The implausible circumstances that follow Mary Sues also tend to follow Marideth.

@Joseiph: It's less her giving all of her attention to Alex, but more her having a special disdain for him, being bullied by him and all, but I get what you're coming from. I'm also probably going to take out the whole God-Mode Sue thing. She's the most powerful of all of them because, ironically, Violet Beach is known for it's plentiful, healthy roses, but she's far from invincible.

Any more tips would be ridiculously appreciated.
