Kory: i will need to do some more testing to see if the 500KB should be lowered even more but either way everyone can relax because the database will not crash or implode in anyway due to page size so splitting pages isn't a huge priority and is just more of a suggestion. For pages that actually load slow, splitting the pages will help slower internet users navigate these pages better.
It looks like pages over 500,000 characters (html formatted, that is) are crashing the server when someone tries to edit them. programmer's whine
They need to be fixed, anyway. Way too big for one page. They need to be broken up into subpages of a reasonable size.
I'm trying to get better about communicating before big changes, so we'll let this one run for a while before taking the action. The server crashes do come under the heading of 'urgent', though.

Stock Foreign Name has been split into four sub-pages, though in total the original page was only 180k characters and so well under the typical page warning/suggestion trigger, which from reading the ATT chat I came across didn't seem to have happened.
Should these be merged back? (was it discussed here before the split?)

I split off Sluggy Freelance and that fixed it. I went ahead and split off Cyanide and Happiness too, since it was at the same length (30 examples).
Freefall is at 28 examples.
Schlock Mercenary is at 25.

My proposal to trimming Characters.Genshin Impact Sumeru is merging the Eremites with the rest of characters associated with the deserts of Sumeru. That way, I'd create a new page called Characters.Genshin Impact Sumeru Desert. It would include:
- Aaru Village
- The Eremites
- The Order of Skeptics
- The Pari
- Historical Figures
What do you think about it?

YMMV.Genshin Impact is also giving the warning because it's over 300k characters. It's harder to split than Characters.Genshin Impact Sumeru. Maybe make a page for all negative Audience Reactions to the many enemies of the game (Demonic Spiders, Goddamned Bats, Goddamned Boss and That One Boss)?
