Eh, that scene tends to bother even people who hate Joffrey, because of how horribly he dies and how much it triggers the Adult Fear of losing your kids.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.They will probably have to tone it down for that kind of reason, but then they'll probably not show Joffrey being as depraved as he was in the books either. Then again, I doubt Tyrion will get maimed.
That scene was was one of the two that really make me appreciate Martin as a writer. Something like that happening to anyone else would have been tragic. I felt a level of grim satisfaction reading it. The event was bad, but it was clearly the best thing that could have happened to the prat.
The other scene is Arya's last encounter with the Tickler. Arya is too young to have that happen to her, but at that point anything else would be worse. I've read it three times, it always makes me cry.
Sex, Drugs, and RationalityArgh, I need to buckle down and read the series, I keep ruining spoilers for myself.
@Lizard: I like book!Cat, though I always find her chapters in the earlier books a bit dull.
It's been said before and I shall repeat it: I love the acting in this show. I would also like to repeat what Norn said about the direction.
I feel like there are a few characters that haven't yet been introduced yet in the show that should've been, but I can't recall. It's been years since I read the book, after all, but I thought Theon and Littlefinger should've been introduced by the point they're at. Feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken, though.
I think the only thing I don't like right now is that Sansa isn't coming across as obsessed with storybooks as she is in the books, which is disappointing since that's such a crucial part of her character. I suppose most of that was in her internal monologue though, so it's too be expected.
"I can't imagine what Hell will have in store, but I know when I'm there, I won't wander anymore."I partially agree about Theon, but they were probably concerned with overwhelming the audience who hasn't read the book.
I don't think Littlefinger shows up until Ned gets to Kings Landing, so he'll probably pop up next episode.
Nil, a new sci-fi/horror story that you should read and review! (Updated 4/something) ''The gate opens.Theon has appeared, but not gotten any coverage as it were. He's just been there in a few scenes, with no narrative to describe who he is. Renly and Barristan Selmy should have appeared with Ser Ilyn Payne, but did not show up. Littlefinger won't appear till Cat gets to King's Landing.
Or maybe he was there with Ned, still, he doesn't show up for a while yet.

Littlefinger is definitely in next episode
Humour, where would we be without it? In Germany, probably
And Varys as well.
I don't care, I just want Syrio Forel and the Dragon Skulls. Also the Iron Throne looks awesome. If they manage to get Balerion* that'll be cool too.
Syrio Forel is, as advertised, awesome. He's got something of the style of my first fencing master, amusingly enough.
I will keep my soul in a place out of sight, Far off, where the pulse of it is not heard.Syrio was great. My only little quibble is that there is not enough Ghost.
This is absolutely awesome. http://www.toplessrobot.com/2011/05/winter_is_rocking.php
You will never love a women as much as George Lucas hates his fans.I've been watching the series and love it- now I really want to check out the books.
Tyrion is great.
I like Littlefinger and his amusing Smug Snake mannerisms it's interesting in light of the later revelations to the effect that he's actually a Magnificent Bastard and the possible Big Bad of the series. Those brothel scenes with the Starks were hilarious. One thing I already know though he's obviously framing Tyrion for the attempted hit on Catlyn/her son- I know a Lannister was involved, but presumably it was his sister, not him
Interesting how Cersei looks like a Princess Classic, given how nasty she is.
Edit- added spoiler tags

HodorJust because you read the spoilers, doesn't mean everyone else has. I'd recommend adding to tags to the Littlefinger thing— especially since the relevant Reveal takes place at the end of the third book/season.

I loved this episode even though it was more Low Key than the Previous ones, although i'm a bit saddened by the fact that they can't have the Direwolves in that many scenes due to the difficulty of controlling the Animals
all The characters continue to impress me but Tyrion continues to be my favourite as well as Arya and Sansa ,Also Jaime was redeemed for me this episode
The wall amazingly done, although I'm a bit worried about what the Dragons are going to be like
But seriously Lancel Lannister deserves everything he gets with hair like that, And Catlyn popping out of the Brothel Window was hilarious
I assume you meant the Dragon thing which I hadn't even considered a spoiler because the moment the Dragons Egg were introduced I knew they were going to hatch and I hadn't read the books

Humour, where would we be without it? In Germany, probablyYou might want to edit some things friends....couple big spoilers in there.
You will never love a women as much as George Lucas hates his fans.Oh yeah, I also liked the fencing master. I guess depending on how you interpret the accent, he'd be that verse's version of a Badass Spaniard, right? Although maybe it was like an Italian accent?
Related to that, sort of unique that the Dothraki seem to be a Greek Fantasy Counterpart Culture (if Greeks were Huns), which isn't one you see too often.
HodorConsidering that Braavos is the Fantasy Counterpart Culture of Venice, I'd say his accent is meant to be Italian-like.
Where did you get Greek?

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.The music that would play for those scenes sounded like zither and other instruments that something like Zorba the Greek would have. And the language sounded sort of Greek to me. Maybe it's just me though.

HodorI dunno, it's hard for me to get past their Mongolian vibe. I can't remember what linguistics they used to construct the Dothraki tongue either.
The Dothraki have never seemed too Mongolian to me aside from the scale of their "horde of nomadic horse tribemen" thing. The Mongols are the only similar real-life culture I know of that ever managed to rope together hundreds of thousands of warriors, but a lot of cultures have had about the same modus on a smaller scale.
Culturally the book version seemed vaguely Hollywood Bedouin, and the series' version doesn't remind me of any real-life cultures in particular; the series' arakhs bear a strong resemblance to Abyssinian shotels, but that's about the only cue I picked up on.

I will keep my soul in a place out of sight, Far off, where the pulse of it is not heard.Khal and Khan does it for me. That and of course, all Nomads are Mongols.
Nah, words for "king" derived from similar roots show up all over the Near East, before and after the Mongol era. The earliest one I can think of relates to the Avar Khaganate, which governed territories in Central Asia until the ninth century (hundreds of years before Ghengis Khan), but there are probably earlier ones; they're pretty much ubiquitous in the Turkic languages.
That is probably what it's meant to evoke, though.

I will keep my soul in a place out of sight, Far off, where the pulse of it is not heard.I think it's meant to be a mix and match of all nomadic war-like horse tribes with some original stuff thrown in for flavor.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.
I expect a certain scene to replace it.
You know, with Joffrey choking and all, I really hope they do it right
