Oh boy.... he's finally getting to Kannazuki no Miko 8. That one is going to be rough, to say the least.
Dost Thou Desire the Power ... Glove? It's so bad. It's interesting how much changed between Midnight and Season 2 of Babylon Five.
In the Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things entry under trivia, it's mention how much Poor Tracy Scoggins was roasted on the forums on USENET and AOL.
That was nothing compared to the Flame Wars over Sheridan vs. Sinclair. Until Bruce proved that he could really step into the role, he was flayed, roasted and burned at the virtual stake because O'Hare had a huge fanbase and Estrogen Brigade.
And yes I heard the horrible rumors about O'Hare on rec.arts.sf.tv.babylon5 (before the .moderated group was made). Just google "Ford Thaxton" and see was a Jerkass he was. There was a "Theron Fuller" but I suspect that he was an alias of Thaxton's. Twain was right, a lie can get halfway around the world before truth can gets it's boots on...
JMS at first seemed petty going after Ford, until you read Ford's posts...OMG I have pre-teen nieces with less a sense of Small Name, Big Ego and less drama....

All night at the computer, cuz people ain't that great. I keep to myself so I won't be a case on The First 48I feel like the whole "Oop, sorry, we can't do anything, Prime Directive and all" applies more to Picard than Kirk.
If anything, Kirk is rather infamous for ignoring the PD to save alien races (and other things), isn't he?
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseWell yeah basically thats why Picard in Season 1 and 2 is doing everything in his power to NOT BE KIRK NO MATTER WHAT!
"I could have saved her"
"You were right not to Try"
and of course Surrendering to everything
I'm A Pervert not an Asshole!Yeah, good point.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseYeah that RC sketch is... "meh" would have been even funnier had it been Picard or Janeway (oh man if it was janeway...)
Ah the Replicators... SG-1's second biggest villain.
I'm A Pervert not an Asshole!I can definitely say that it's better than Star Trek's Nemesis.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseMost things are.
It's hard to find things worse than Star Trek Nemesis
I will say though I was not a fan of the Replicators, especially when the humanoid ones came into play.

humanoid replicants did make them less interesting yeah
even Replicarter
Though her initial creation was a nice bit of fanservice.
I'd say it would've been cool if they had kept the regular replicators and went with the Body Horror that was Replicator Marrick in The Ark of Truth.

Is not impressed.and and left them dead instead of reviving them as the Asurans... so we can have yet another thing to blame of the ancients
I'm A Pervert not an Asshole!I never got the appeal of SG-1
Between Deep Space Nine and Babylon Five, I just didn't care for it. Hated the movie, but that's because I am allergic to Roland Emmerich movies.
Battlestar Galatica? Meh...I was in the Army when it really took off and by that time I was mostly into anime (as a lot of soldiers are) and only the more geeky ones dug SG-1 or BSG. I was drowning in Anime torrents (until my HDD died on me) and I when back to the classics, Trek, B5 and classic films. I admit that Sf Debris did make me seek out more of the Trek back catalog and made me want to watch Godzilla 1985 again.
But I just never saw SG-1 as worth watching.
Part of the problem was that there were no alien aliens: humans in costume just doesn't work for me, buy some rubber foreheads or something! Also, I finally realize why it was such an uphill battle to get my mom into Sci-fi: SG-1 had too much backstory.
B5 had a nice backstory that was easy to get into, but due to the arc, made catching up for non-fans hard (no Nextflix, no torrent, unless you had TNT, you were screw if you came into it min-season or worse, mid-run). And the Trek backstory is so much of pop culture it's easy: Klingons, warp factor etc.
Every time I asked about SG-1...MEGO (my eyes glaze over)

All night at the computer, cuz people ain't that great. I keep to myself so I won't be a case on The First 48I was the same way for the longest time. I thought nothing of SG-1. It wasn't until I went through wisdom teeth surgery and spent a week high on meds and nothing to watch but Stargate Atlantis. That was my gateway show into the Stargate Verse. It only has 5 seasons and was easier to get into, apart from a few instances of the show relying on some of the series history. Then the rest of the series gradually grew on me. And I am probably one of a very few people who appreciated Stargate Universe.

Is not impressed.SG-1 was and still is my absolute favorite show.
In my opinion, it's Star Trek, but with better characters, more engaging plots and conflict, and a much more approachable concept and execution.
But that's just me, and everyone has different opinions on everything.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseFor me, especially back in the day, SG 1 was like a total reversal. If you look at it on paper, everybody on that show would be the villains of 99% of any random X Files episode (to use an example) and a lot of other TV/movies at the time. Instead we've got a secret government & military conspiracy that is trying to do right by the nation and rest of the universe.
Plus while I love trek, SG 1 just felt more human. TNG was like the perfect, storybook family. SG 1 was like your actual friends.
I love the episode where O'Neill is horrified the government might have had an "accident" staged to eliminate a journalist who found out about the SGC.
That O'Neill, a guy who has done his fair share of black ops (So much that he mentions if he wrote his memoirs, he'd have to shoot anyone who read it). Looks at the length the government goes and goes "Hell no"

Yeah, that's my favorite thing about SG-1. The characters felt like actual human beings (besides Teal'c, obviously) and not characters.
TOS and DS 9 did come close to having characters on par with SG-1, but even then, they did feel a bit...... character-y.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseThe Stargate series was definitely more grounded than Star Trek for sure. Which I feel was a failing of Enterprise, a chance to have the series feel more grounded due to it's being early in the timeline and they never quite got it right.
Is not impressed. My fav Trek is DS9 because it has a story arc that runs from the first episode to the last. It is for this exact reason I like Stargate so much. Other things, like the writing, humour and secondary characters are why I like Stargate better than DS9.
