To start, whenever I'd play a racing game, I refused to brake or otherwise slowdown even on turns. I'd be like 'oh hey, 3rd turn of Beginner course, whatever FULL SPEED AHEAD'

I remember, in Shining Force, (played via gametap) that I did not differentiate between warriors and mages, I had zero strategy and just did Attack! Attack! Attack!.

I remember playing Battle City in 2-player mode, and I thought the eagle behind the brick walls was an enemy. So I hit left (I was P2 that time) and went Five Rounds Rapid... sad

Still finishing: a whole lot of shows from Fall 2013 and Winter 2014.

In Final Fantasy 7, failing miserably at the little timed-jumpimg minigame in Disc One while climbing up to the Shinra Building. I gave up for a while because I could not for the life of me catch that swinging pipe.

In SSB/SSBM I would spam falcon punch. Justified considering it worked on the easy CPU's I selected.

I would sell any and all items for money to buy equipment and would never stock up on anything. Not even revive items.

For some reason I thought it was funny to keep going up and down an escalator in a Pokemon Center. Repeatedly. Then again, I am easily amused...

Although I didn't mention it in the Pokemon version of the thread, using my Master Ball on Skarmory in Ruby/Sapphire. On the other hand, all the other pokemon are rather easy to catch in comparison. Seriously, Groudon/Kyogre/Rayquaza all go down with a Timer Ball, or hell, even a poke ball can still do it. And that's saying something.

Replacing Lugia's Aero Blast with Hydro Pump in the original Silver...

Heroes Of Might And Magic II. Every turn I moved my melee troops towards the nearest possible target, rather than waiting for them to come to me, and I treated all losses short of losing the battle as acceptable casualties. It was basically the video gaming equivalent of bunchball.

My sense of direction was even worse than it is now, so I dreaded any kind of cave level. Even if it was a one-way, single path with clear landmarks I'd probably get horribly lost. I still do this, just... not quite so much.

Refusing to do the second honeycomb stage in Donkey Kong Country 2, thus locking me out of about half the game for years.

Wait, that's not dumb.

I'd always use the Warp Zones in Super Mario Bros. when I came across them; I didn't see World 2 for like, three years.

I would always use the "P" wings in Super Mario Bros. 3 as soon as I got them.

I would never use Laser over Double in the Gradius series.

...That's about it, actually. I was pretty good at the things as a kid.

I liked killing villagers because they didn't dance as I wanted them to in Black And White. Sometimes, I randomly picked a village and decided "this one will not have over 50 people in it!". Cue (useless) sacrifices.

I would always use the P wings. I was too retarded to find the warp zones in the first Super Mario Bros...

I didn't realize you had to equip the baseball bat in Earthbound, so Frankie's goons kept slaughtering me. "Why isn't that stupid bat helping?" I wondered. Now I know.

In Real-Time Strategy games (this means Starcraft 1, Warcraft II, Red Alert 1 and a few others), only using one or two kind of units (often the biggest one), and never using any special ability in the middle of a battle.

I'm dating myself, but I found out if you pressed the "Select" button to pause the Atari 2600 Superman game just as the bridge exploded, you could let the screens cycle through and when it got back to the one with the phone booth, Clark Kent would change to Superman during the paused bit. Then when it got back to the bridge, it would automatically be reconstructed, making that whole bit completed in one second.

Later I found out if you started using Superman's X-ray vision for the first three seconds or so, you wouldn't have to change into Clark Kent at all, allowing you to just fly to the right and reconstruct the bridge as it exploded. Weirdly, this resulted in a glitch: an identical set of bridge parts located in one of the subway stations (the blue one, IIRC).

This is one I love to bring up whenever this topic comes up on various boards.

Getting through the Sylvan and Summoned Monster caves in Final Fantasy IV. What's so dumb about that?

I didn't use Float.

For those of you who've never played FFIV, these two caves have A LOT of damage tiles that hurt you for a not-insignificant amount of damage. Massive quantities of high-potions were used to get through them, when Float would have made things sooo much easier. >_<

I once played Descent 2 when I was much younger. I remember using up all my missiles without realizing I had a laser gun and then dying.
