@melloncollie: Obviously not. He was saying like "We've gone this long without it happening, I wonder if we can keep this up".

@Raw Power: Well, that's why he's training right now; once he's done he'll probably be able to counter Sasuke's genjutsu which was able to keep him from using the fox chakra. Also, I don't think he's going to beat every Akatsuki member himself, that would leave nothing for everyone else.

As for Madara, we don't even know what he can do much less how to counter it.

@thatother1dude U don't really think that it should be in spoiler Tags. Because then after I get all the tags BOOM discussion of spoilers is allowed. Besides K*SPAM Didn't spoil tag'd his signature when Memefaec/Reapfeac Saucekay way revealed.

@Pipping Fool: I just meant because you were talking to someone who hadn't read those chapter. Though on second thought, if he's asking us, he probably doesn't care about spoilers that much.

Plus, it's still not half as bad as that avatar you used to use of Whitebeard's half-burned face as he Died Standing Up.

I've just read chapter 491, story aside, am i the only one to notice an entirely massive art improvement?

It just seems it's gone from... well, frankly, rather bad (Karins lumpy glasses, i'm lookin' at you), to rather good in two or three chapters...

Kishi must've gotten locked in room until he finished some of those chapters.

@K*SPAM: And the one for Avatar: The Last Airbender used to be six pages. It's just that people use it as a forum, and stuff builds up over the years because it never gets deleted.

@Billabong: I'm not seeing it. The art seems pretty much the same, it's just that it looks different because we finally changed setting.

And what are you talking about when you say Karin's glasses are "lumpy"? Isn't that just what they look like?

All of a sudden it's started looking a lot closer to stuff by Norihiro Yagi

Though i admit, it's not nearly as drastic as i thought (Much higher quality scans to thank for that), but it's still there.

Edit: okay now i'm all tangled up in myself, they're the same.. It's a lot harder to tell with different resolution scans

Anyway, ignore my madness.

@Billabong: Pretty sure the thing with the glasses is just the scan clean up making her glasses and some of the dirt and cuts on her face bleed into each other since in the RAW you can see the "lumps" are just her eyelids sticking out behind the top of her glasses.

Now that I think about it, it does seem like he's changing up his art style (especially the shading) with the new Story Arc. Wouldn't be the first time.

EDIT: If you really want to look at the art try looking at the high quality RAWs on mangahelpers
Also, you might try comparing the weekly chapter RAWs and the Volume RAWs and you can see how he re-draw/edited some of the art or even slightly changed some scene (Volume 48 in particularly actually has like 5 pages worth of extra material in the volume and a bunch of scene are changed, as I mentioned earlier in the thread).

It's also a bit unfair to match Naruto characters and Fullmetal Alchemist characters together, seeing as the Naruto characters are superhuman, while the FMA ones are bound by human limitations (Even the Homunculi to a degree. Except for maybe Envy). It's more appropriate to match them against Avatar characters.

Yeah, differences in series power scale sort of makes a lot of theoretical Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny fizzle out if you start applying logic.

It would be funny if someone tried to take every shonen (and maybe seinen) action series they could think of an tried to make a vague listing of the average combatant's power scale by the end of the series.

Fullmetal Alchemist would be toward the low end, while the highest would probably be either Dragonball or Jojos Bizarre Adventures (from what I've heard; can someone give better insight on the later).

the most powerful ability in Jojos Bizarre Adventure can reverse any action taken against its wielder, instantly. Now, think of any extension of that skill, and it's more likely than not possible. Also, a lot of the series has to do with using the mind as a weapon, so even skills that suck by comparison can be great. However, if you can actually hit them, most users of abilities actually do have regular human bodies.

If you include anime as well as manga (none of you ever specified), the top would be TTGL. You can blow up the Earth? How quaint. I can throw the galaxy like a shuriken.

Though I do get the idea that you are only talking Manga.

I've heard the main character of Bastard!! is supposed to be insanely powerful, or at least incredibly hard to kill. If I remember right, he's got over 200 magical shields that can protect him from any sort of attack (including trying to kill him in the past, psychic attacks, bad luck, and even the concept of losing itself). And if someone gets through that, his body is tough enough on its own to survive galaxy destroying explosions. And he can only be killed if you attack his body and soul simultaneously. And if you do succeed in killing him, he can bring himself back to life through sheer willpower.

Course, the people I heard that from were pretty massive fans of the series, so there may be some "my favorite character is the strongest ever!" exaggeration going on.
