YMMV / Super RWBY Sisters

Go To

  • Archive Panic: Seeing as how long the series has been going on, reading the whole series would mean that around 450 chapters have to be read to read the whole series. Ensuring that anyone who wants to read the whole series will have several hours' worth of content to read through and stories often having overlapping elements, ensuring that one has to read everything in order to not fall behind. That's not even while adding in the 200 chapters that the Chibi spin off has.
  • Base-Breaking Character:
    • Ironwood was this before the author retconned it. Chapter 13 of Super RWBY Gaiden has him face Bowser and obsesses over capturing Roman and Neo, and falls into immense obsession. While readers find it funny and comment how it references his canon self for being stubborn and losing allies such as Winter who left him, others feel his obsession was forced and rather childish as past chapters showed him to be more understanding yet became childish and willing to kill here.
    • Dimentio became this once he became a recurring villain. Some readers love how he continues to get his butt handed to him whenever he tries to cause trouble and how his rare moments of success can lead to some of the best moments of the series for both him and the heroes. Others, however, feel that he's become way too stale, that his plotlines drag the stories he appears in down, he takes time away from less appearing (and more popular) villains and that he needs to hurry up and get killed off already.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Despite the quality of the series, the author tends to break the flow of scenes by having characters make jokes in which they make references that are either comments about a situation being similar to events that are yet to come then another character's comments on the joke or the fourth wall is broken to have the characters make fun of real-life events. After which the now halted flow of the scene continues as if nothing happened.
  • Can't Un-Hear It: Good luck not picturing the characters' canonical voice actors during the stories.
  • Catharsis Factor: Whenever a hated villain gets killed or injured in some way, the reviewers rejoice in it.
  • Complete Monster: The malicious Dark Samus teams up with Ridley to spread Phazon across the galaxy. Dark Samus infects Bowser with Phazon, before spreading it to multiple planets. Denying the heroes an ally by Infecting Viridi with Phazon, Dark Samus later rams a Poison Mushroom down Gloria's throat out of curiosity and nukes the homeworlds of the heroes with Phazon. Dark Samus's poor treatment of the uninfected Bowser Jr. leads to him defecting to the heroes, and her insanity causes Ridley and the Space Pirates to turn against her. Cruel, hateful, and monstrous, Dark Samus finds herself opposed and loathed by heroes and villains alike.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: Palutena wiping out the entirety of Sling Pod Galaxy with a massive laser? Surprisingly dark move for a heroically aligned character. Her doing it because she kept failing to reach the goal of the area? Darkly hilarious and actually somewhat in character.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • Yang killing Pit for a small incident in RWBY Uprising becomes this when he reveals to her in RWBY Isle of armor that he resents her for what she did and for the fact that she never apologized to him.
      • Adding onto that in that same story Palutena tells her that she is also still mad at Yang over that incident and calls her out for her behavior.
    • Yang constantly teasing and driving King K Rool mad about never making it into Smash Brothers becomes this for the earlier stories in RWBY DK 64, with him being driven to the brink of madness and him trying to kill Yang and the rest of her team.
      • Adding onto the previous point, Yang's constant teasing of King K Rool and her carefree attitude throughout the series eventually lead to a falling out with Ruby after the latter had run away to the Galar region due to the severe beating she took from Dark Ruby since her actions led Ruby to feel like she couldn't rely on her sister.
    • Hiyoko's massive rant to the Reds and Blues in the first Super RWBY Galaxy about how much they suck at their jobs comes back to bite her firmly in the butt when she learns that the Reds and Blues were meant for cannon fodder and they start agreeing with her, even though she's now changed her opinion.
    • The past Champions appear alive and well in the stories because of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity...then that game turned into an alternate timeline in the climax and the past Champions are still dead in the main timeline which The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom confirms.
    • Before the events of "Skyward Sword", Weiss mentions wishing how she could take Ruby's burdens away. The next several stories would ultimately put Weiss through the wringer, meaning that Weiss had her wish granted in the worst way possible.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Yang's constant teasing of King K Rool of him never becoming a fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate becomes this in-universe once he joins the roster.
    • The last skit of chapter 7 of Super RWBY Chibi becomes this after Incineroar got revealed as a fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Especially with it involving Little Mac accidentally entering a wrestling ring and fighting against Incineroar, making it quite similar to the reveal trailer.
    • The second skit of Chapter 12 of Super RWBY Chibi shows Hades reviving Sephiroth just to mess with Cloud, with Sephiroth occasionally making an appearance in a skit. At the Game Awards, Sephiroth is confirmed for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The author lampshades this.
"'Have Hades revive Sephiroth', I said. 'It'll make a great Chibi, I said!' What is it with my knack of unwittingly predicting characters getting in Smash? Good gravy!"
    • In chapter 182 of Super RWBY Chibi, one of the skits is what if Ridley was at BSL. At the end of Chapter 68 of Super RWBY Gaiden, Ridley decides to head to the BSL station to pay Samus a "visit".
    • In the first skit of chapter 157 of Super RWBY Chibi Cinder ends up getting burned to ashes by a shiny Charizard. Guess by what Cinder ends up getting attacked by the end of the Burning of Rome?
    • The last skit of chapter 180 of Chibi has a joke made about Doom Guy being in the roster as the last fighter and Sora being a Mii costume. Come the final reveal, and the reverse is true with Sora being in the roster as the last fighter and Doom Guy being a Mii costume.
    • Two involving Fusion:
    • In chapter 12 of Super RWBY Galaxy, Summer pointed out to Yang that Byleth would make a better sister to Ruby than the latter was at the time. Come Chapter 7 of RWBY: Fell Star Strikers, Byleth becomes an adoptive older sister of the Xiaolong-Rose Family, accepted by both sisters.
    • In RWBY and the Seven Sirens, the Cuphead cast reveals that the game and show both happened, with the former happening, then the latter. In season 3 of the show, it would be implied to be the other way around, with the season ending with Cuphead heading for the newly opened Devil's Casino with Mugman and Chalice trying to stop him.
    • One of the OC teams is Team JINXY. Come Volume 9 and a raccoon named Jinxy is introduced.
    • One chapter of Chibi has a Dynamaxed Electrode use Explosion which wipes out the whole stadium. In Pokémon Sword and Shield, Explosion turns into a very powerful Max Strike when used by a Dynamaxed Pokémon like all the other damage-dealing Normal type moves.
  • I Knew It!:
    • The moment it was teased during RWBY and the Seven Sirens, several readers predicted that the Giga Mermaid and Cala Maria would wind up fighting each other.
    • At least one reader correctly guessed that Wings of Ruin would be where Adam would ultimately get Killed Off for Real.
  • Like You Would Really Do It: During Winter's Dusk, was anyone actually worried over Kyoko's "death"?
  • Moral Event Horizon:
    • King Boo goes into this one hard at the end of JNPR's Mansion, becoming enraged with Luigi and Team JNPR nearly succeeding that he tries his hardest to get them all killed. And when that fails, he decides to kill Jade's parents by destroying the statues he had turned them into.
    • King K Rool also gets to this point in RWBY DK 64. He was still bitter over Yang beating him in the first story that he devised a plan to get back at her; first, he kidnapped Team RWBY and the Kong Family, then he drains her of her aura to the point of nearly killing her, has her fight her own sister, and finally, plans to use his laser to not only take out Kong island, but also Bowser's kingdom and Dreamland. It turns out he only did this because Yang brought him to his breaking point.
    • During their confrontation, Adam implies to Ilia that he wouldn't even hesitate to cut down a child to achieve his goal. Never mind what he later does after he creates the Crimson Fang.
    • In Fell Star Strikers Thales gleefully blasts past this by torturing Byleth to force Sothis to summon Nemesis.
    • Grimm Ruby. Where to even begin? She gleefully torments Ruby to the point where she nearly kills her a few times, she even tried to kill her teammates so she could get a rise out of her. Then in Super RWBY 3D Land, she kidnaps Ruby and tortures her to death, force feeds her Grimm liquid that destroyed her aura which made it easier for her to torment, nearly gouges her eyes out, throws more Grimm liquid at her face and makes her hallucinate everyone as Grimm Ruby, she tricks Ruby into almost KILLING YANG and brings Ruby to despair.
    • Dr. Eggman kicks off his stint of being Winter's Dusk's Big Bad by causing Atlas to crash into Mantle, leading to hundreds of innocent people dying and even more becoming homeless. If you somehow don't think he crossed it there, you will once he manages to nuke Argus and forced Pyrrha, who was born and raised there, to give the order to do it. WSSP Frontiers reveals he wasn't actually aware of the second thing, but it doesn't change the horror of the first.
    • Twilight Chiaki cements her fall from Well-Intentioned Extremist into straight up evil when she starts summoning innocent versions of herself purely to "prove" that she is the one true Chiaki, with her first victim being an ordinary mother of two and a later attempted one being a six year old child.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Initially Bowsette's introduction to the series was mixed due to her being a Discredited Meme. But after her backstory, role and characterization were showcased, she is now a well liked character by fans.
  • Shipping: Xena has this moment when she sees Byleth and Dorothea kiss.
    Xena: Yup, I ship it!
  • Take That, Scrappy!: Chapter 11 of Skyward Sword has Cia summoning Tingle via random chance...only to immediately boot him back after he starts saying what he can do, yelling "THAT'S FOR WHAT YOU DID IN THE GREAT SEA, ASSHOLE!"
  • That One Boss: Considering Diggernaut was a major pain in the ass in Metroid: Samus Returns, everyone who wasn't familiar with Diggernaut got their butts handed to them in a major way. Not even Dante or Bowser could take it out. Luckily, they got their revenge against it in a much more open space.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
    • Both Mustache Girl and the Empress are highly underutilized during RWBY and the Seven Sirens. In spite of having a possibly engaging subplot for Hat Kid, with her having to both save her friend while face the one being she left the planet on poor terms with as well as being the only one she outright fears, the duo appears a grand total of twice as enemies before Mustache Girl is set free and the Empress gets defeated, when they could have been Recurring Bosses or even assisted some of the Cuphead bosses or Sirens for something akin to a Hailfire Peaks style fight. Nan himself would actually admit this during Chapter 200 of Gaiden, having Hades and Deadpool mock how stupid it was to set them up and then have them only show up twice.
    • Considering how fun the cast of Gravity Falls is, the fact that the only characters to travel to the Mushroom Kingdom/Remnant world are the two sets of Pines twins and later Waddles can be a little disappointing, especially considering potential interactions between some of the other major characters from the show could have with characters already in the series. Wendy and Soos are the worst in this regard, especially they're also considered be part of the main cast and they notice something is up with the clones that Yukari left behind, but don't figure it out.
  • Unexpected Character:
    • The Moonshine Mob appearing during RWBY and the Seven Sirens caught quite a few readers off guard since it's implied that the Devil is possessing the bosses attacking the Cups and it's implied that the Mob never actually made a deal with the Devil.
    • Out of all the Sonic characters to appear in the series, was anyone actually expecting Caliburn to make an appearance?
