• So, in RWBY and the Seven Sirens, were the Cuphead bosses brainwashed or acting of their own will? We were already shown that the Devil and King Dice weren't against brainwashing as seen with Mustache Girl, but none of the bosses seemed to have any changes in their personality and seem to act the same once the story was over, as seen by Werner picking another fight with Blake. However, it's implied that the Devil still had them under debt (which the Cupbros freed them from), so them wanting to work for the guy who stole their souls while attacking the people who saved them of their own free will seems strange.
  • There is a very simply explanation for this, first the devil has been shown to be willing to use every single underhanded trick in the book to get what he wants and considering he brainwashed Mustache Girl, it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility that he did the same with the bosses to get them to help him. Secondly, in regards to Werner, considering the backstory between the Devil and the Cupbros takes cues from both the game and the show, and it being shown that Werner is a massive jerk who takes pleasure in antagonising the cups in the show it actually makes sense that he continued to act like that. As for the Moonshine Mob, they are criminals who just wanted to continue their operations once they escaped hell. And even with Ribby and Croaks, it could have been their personalities shining through the brainwashing. So really, the most logical explanation is that even if they are brainwashed by the devil, parts of their true personality would still be able to shine through, despite the brainwashing.
