YMMV / Pickle and Peanut

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The "Favorite Time is The Spring" song, which doesn't get really awesome until the entire cast harmonizes together.
  • Broken Base: When it comes to Disney XD fans, some people think the show is bad, but hilariously bad. Others think it's just okay. Still others think it's an outright terrible show. And of course, there are the people who think it's genuinely enjoyable. Lampshaded in the promos for the show, which show real comments from real people who either hate it or love it. One of them shows a comment that says "Please just cancel this show", and another one says "Watch Pickle and Peanut... or not!"
  • Fan-Preferred Couple: Pickle ended up marrying a nameless wife in the finale. A few fans choose to ignore this since they feel Pickle belongs with Peanut.
  • Follow the Leader: Many viewers see it as Disney's attempt on shows like Breadwinners or Regular Show.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Surprisingly, the show has a sizable fanbase in Japan.
  • Growing the Beard: It's not too noticeable, but later episodes focus more on the characters and storytelling, and less on being gross.
  • Heartwarming Moments: How much Pickle and Peanut care for each other. Whenever they comfort, apologize to, defend, or worry about each other. For example in "Watchin' Darlin'" Pickle worries sick over Peanut when he's lost in the desert, constantly feeling guilt over leaving him alone.
  • Ho Yay: Pickle and Peanut are pretty close friends and have no qualms being sensitive to each others' feelings and needs.
    • One episode features Pickle and Peanut all but adopting a car that has mutated to have a face. It's treated with no fuss.
    • There are also several episodes where Pickle and or Peanut make suggestive comments about how soft and kissable the other ones lips are. And many more scenes that involve them being awkwardly close to each other, but neither seem to mind, in fact they actually admit to enjoying the closeness. It's hard to not think they have or have had a thing for each other...
    • In a blink and you'll miss it scene from one episode you can see that Pickle's name on Peanut's phone is "Baby Bear"
  • So Bad, It's Good: Some viewers find the show bad, yet oddly addictive just to see what kind of random weirdness it'll pull.
  • So Okay, It's Average: The other half just find it alright but nothing noticeable.
  • Squick: For starters, the first episode is about the boys befriending a zit on Pickle's butt.
  • Suspiciously Similar Song: Champion Horse's flashback montage of his deceased love Leilani is accompanied by a song that sounds like an instrumental of "Careless Whisper".
  • Tainted by the Preview: The moment this show was announced, the Internet took an immediate disliking to it due to the stock photo-based artstyle.
  • They Copied It, So It Sucks!: A lot of negative comparisons to Breadwinners and Regular Show. PhantomStrider even claimed it was meant to be a "teen SpongeBob."
  • Unintentional Uncanny Valley: The titular characters are animated using stock photos, causing a lot of awkward animation.
  • What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: There are a LOT of innuendos in this show (which, considering it's airing on a Disney channel, is saying something). Including, but not limited to:
    • The two main characters sharing the nicknames for male "special parts".
    • Champion Horse at first looking like he was peeing on a fire.
    • A woman taking a selfie... of Pickle's ass.
    • As The Mysterious Mr. Enter noted, another scene in the premiere episode, "Greg", looks like a drug deal.
    • "Slippery Dough Sweeters". It doesn't help that it can be misheard as "Slippery Ghost Wieners".
