- Awesome Music: This is basically the site's entire point. See here for specific examples.
- Dead Horse Genre: Besides ReMixes with lyrics, most dubstep, rap, and metal ReMixes also commonly receive backlash.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: One remix in the Trials of Mana album, "Do The Splash Hop," is a reggae meta commentary on how the game (then known as Seiken Densetsu 3) was never released in the US and only received a Fan Translation five years later. Several months after the album's release, Square Enix put out an official Western translation for the game as part of a Compilation Re-release, with a full 3D remake in the works, twenty-four years after SD3's original release. "It's was a long, long time" is quite the understatement.
- Misattributed Song: It's commonly believed that this OC ReMix by The Rabbit Joint is by System of a Down. It isn't. This misattribution was debunked by SoaD bassist Shavo Odadjian in 2002. (50:32-51:30 of video)
- More Popular Spin-Off: Of OverClocked itself.
- Older Than They Think: Contrary to popular belief, the concept of video game music remixes and a central location to showcase them was not originally conceived by OC ReMix. The site's founder, David "djpretzel" Lloyd, was actually inspired by specialized sites like C64 Audio, back then a collection of free Commodore 64 arrangements.
- Retroactive Recognition: As revealed in this interview, Joe "XPRTNovice" Zieja pivoted to voice acting and received tremendous acclaim for playing Claude von Riegen in Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
- The Scrappy: Vocal ReMixes are often the point of ire, mostly for those who prefer instrumental-only music (most VGM is instrumental), consider video game music with lyrics to be out of bounds, or dislike the quality of the vocal performances. They seem aware of it, as their 2012 April Fools' Day joke involved a Retool to all vocal remixes.
- Slow-Paced Beginning: Some ReMixes can be made better to a listener by chopping the first 30 to 60 seconds of the song off.
- They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Many ReMixes are criticized for not copying/retaining the mood, feel, or instrumentation of the source music, even though interpretation through arrangement is the site's stated purpose.
