- Informed Wrongness: Naruto when he hit Hikaru. Hikaru spent the first thirty minutes of the movie acting like a Bratty Half-Pint towards Naruto and even wanted to buy Naruto as a personal servant. When Naruto rightfully refuses, he hits him with one of his toy arrows, which finally causes Naruto to snap. What makes it even worse is that the one who punishes Naruto is Sakura, who has beaten on Naruto multiple times and isn't above striking little kids either, as Konohamaru can attest to.
- Narm:
- Any villain with the name "Shabadaba" is hard to take seriously on principle.
- The movie in general is way too melodramatic. This is not to the movie's benefit.
- The Scrappy:
- Hikaru is disliked for his bratty behavior, his flimsy Character Development, and being pitted in a sympathetic light when karma finally bites him in the ass.
- Sure, Shabadaba is a Hate Sink; but he still gets this for his name, his annoying dialogue, his shallow motivation and personality, and being a Non-Action Big Bad who just cheers and berates The Dragon from the sidelines. I.e., he's the Naruto version of Babidi.
- Sequelitis: This is usually considered the worst of the pre-timeskip Naruto movies. So much so that this was the subject of Don East's first review for Anime Abomination. And yet somehow it's still more generally favored than the previous movie.
- Take That, Scrappy!: Ishidate finally being done with Shabadaba's shit, and turning him to stone.
- Vindicated by History: These days, people look back at this movie more fondly.
