YMMV / Les 2 Minutes du Peuple

• Archive Panic: 4000 "Deux Minutes du Peuple" skits made over roughly 30 years.
• Broken Base: When a skit exists in both French and Quebecois, there are numerous debates amongst fans about which version is the best one. It mostly boils down to "I grew up with this version and I understand it better anyway" for both sides of the argument.
• Crosses the Line Twice: Vive l'amour, an Anti-Love Song whose lyrics are filled to the brim with nearly every single curse word and insult of the French language. The Quebecois version does the same, but due to Separated by a Common Language sounds like Big, Stupid Doodoo-Head to French speakers.
• Ensemble Dark Horse:
  • Tata Boutlamine, a pianist with origins in Dakar ^note The capital of Senegal and Algeria, plays with only one finger following a coffee grinder accident. He's become a very popular character despite appearing for only a few seconds on a Radio Communautaire segment.
  • Klépétar ^note Word of God is that her real name is Jocelyne Bédard, the little girl with a major speech impediment sitting on the laps of a Mall Santa, also became fairly popular, even if once again she only appeared once.
• Memetic Mutation:
  • "Un Ski-doo, on peut-tu laisser ça dans (la) cour?" ("Can you leave a Ski-doo in the driveway?") followed by an "Eeeesh" expression conveying uncertainty. ^Explanation  This comes from a "Guy who shops" sketch where he asks a ski-doo salesman if the titular vehicle can be left in the driveway. Word of God is that it's a bad idea to do so, as the components will suffer exposure to the elements.
  • "Est-ce que ce serait un gars dont je me câliss?" ("Could this be a guy I don't give a fuck about?") ^Explanation  This one is from the Quebec version of the sketch where two travellers are stranded in a dreadful "Bed and Breakfast"-style inn and the old lady running it shows them the backyard filled with sculptures from an artist known as Alcide Barbeau. One of the man expresses his lack of care at who Alcide is.. Frequently used by Pérusse fans in response to news about someone they do not give a fuck about.
  • "Kapoué!" ^Explanation One of the many Baby Talk nonsensical words said in a skit about Doting Parents, this one particularly resonated with listeners and became one the most famous gag in the entire series. It was later referenced in another skit ("The air traffic") which also became a fan-favorite, making it sound like a Running Gag for more casual listeners despite only appearing in these two skits.
• Most Wonderful Sound: With Pérusse's background in advertisement, it's no wonder that the skits are filled with ear worms:
  • "Les joints d'étanchéité pour conduit d'évacuation pour climatiseur de morgue, Alphonse Robichu": A very catchy advertising jingle for the titular waterproofing joints for drainage ducts for morgue refrigeration systems.
• Parody Displacement: The parody of "Partir un Jour" by 2be3 (a French Boy Band and Pérusse's regular Butt-Monkey) is probably more known than the original to anyone born after the year 2000.
• So Bad, It's Good: If any positive attention is given to the animated sketches, it'll be this way. They've become infamous due to their stiff and awkward animation featuring very bland environments that are nonetheless filled with a bizarre amount of sexual content that wasn't present in the source material. Nonetheless, a few of the animations like "Snack-Bar chez Raymond" and "Les Clowns Bougons" have become classics on their own, the latter in particular to the point of Adaptation Displacement.
• Values Dissonance:
  • The whole shtick around the Roger and Caroline sketches, with Roger constantly trying to seduce Caroline and the latter repeatedly rejecting him, wouldn't fly high in the post Me-Too age, with Roger's attempts at declaring his love for Caroline looking like borderline harassment.
  • The Asian and African characters are usually portrayed in a very stereotypical manner, often for the sake of Fun with Foreign Languages. This is made worse in the animated skits however where they are drawn like racist caricatures.
  • The Quebec version of "Vive L'Amour" sounds anything but insulting to French speakers.
