YMMV / Friday Night Funkin' Logic

Go To

  • Ass Pull:
    • In "RETURN of EVIL BOYFRIEND", Daddy Dearest reveals that he lied about the origin of the corruption and that Monster was using him as a pawn in his schemes. There was no indication that he was an Unwitting Pawn in this and seemed to take sheer pleasure of it, and Monster looked like his dragon. There was also no explanation as to how he was an Unwitting Pawn. Did Monster threaten him? Did they make a deal? It seems like GameToons just made this up as an excuse for Daddy Dearest’s sudden case of Adaptational Villainy without any thought put into it.
    • In "RETURN of EVIL BOYFRIEND", it was said multiple times that the corruption couldn't be stopped, indicating how strong it was. In the mod this was based off, the corruption was a hopeless struggle and the entire world ended up succumbing to it, with Boyfriend's own mind needing to kick his ass into gear over the span of a whole Week before he could finally start fighting back. Player and Girlfriend however, were corrupted for not even a minute, yet managed to break out of it and defeat Monster with little effort, coming off as out of nowhere and anticlimactic.
  • Awesome Moments: Player beating Matt. Especially since his mod is considered one of the most difficult mods available to download.
  • Broken Base: GameToons’ fanbase is divided on whether or not this series lives to the success of Among Us Logic. To some, this series is a nice change of pace where Player no longer loses constantly. Others, however, have derided the series due to cashing in on FNF's popularity, and GameToons' treatment of the franchise as its new flagship series.
  • Base-Breaking Character:
    • Player's new jerkass personality and newfound baddassery has divided fans. To some, this is a well-deserved break for him as he would constantly lose every game of Among Us. Others have not embraced this portrayal due to Player now being a jerk to almost everyone he sees, even if they don't deserve it.
    • Parappa is also a pretty controversial character, some fans find him to be cool and have more personality, others seem to hate him very much due to being a jerk to the Player as well as being a massive departure to his normal personality.
  • Contested Sequel: Despite the Seasonal Rot of Among Us Logic, this logic remains contentious among those that miss Among Us Logic or don't care for the source game.
  • Crack Ship: Girlfriend seems genuinely infatuated with Jack/Stickman of all people in his episode.
  • Designated Hero: Player can be a pretty grating protagonist at times, with cases like Starlight Mayhem and Vs. Stickman being prime examples. In the former, he goes full Smug Super, acting like an uncaring asshole to CJ and Ruby, even when the latter has clear confidence issues. In the latter, he barges into Jack's house, and continuously annoys him to see what's in his back room, even pelting him with microphones. It should be noted that in the original mod, while he still showed up in Jack's house unnanounced, Jack is the one who started pelting microphones and the Boyfriend only did it back in self-defense.
  • Fridge Horror: Since Ruv has died and hasn't came back as of current, one could imagine that Selever and Rasazy have ceased to exist alongside him, since Dokki has stated they will suffer this fate if Ruv or Sarvente break their vow. Thankfully, Selever ended up returning for his own episode, implying Ruv came back somehow.
  • Fridge Logic:
    • Ruv should not have died at Taki's hands because he is supposed to be immortal in his origin mod. Sarvente should've also not be afraid of having a chainsaw pointed at her because she too is immortal. Even if Ruv isn't immortal in this series, isn't his death technically breaking his vow with Sarvente, and if so, why isn't she dead?
    • Despite Girlfriend knowing Tricky's full backstory, she somehow doesn't know about Hank's existence, which makes no sense considering Hank's heavy involvement with Tricky. Though, this could be a result of Early-Installment Weirdness, since Girlfriend was originally a know-it-all who knew about every character they came across (except Sky for whatever reason), but after they transformed into their current incarnations, Girlfriend was seemingly discovering each of the mods for the first time.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Senpai and Monika becoming a couple here ended up being this as of the Takeover update to Monika Full Week, which shows through the Story Mode cutscenes that Monika is only interested in the player. Even more so with the Plus update, which has an additional song making it even more clear that she isn't interested in Senpai.
  • Heartwarming in Hindsight: The video "CAROL & WHITTY DATE WEEK! Friday Night Funkin' Logic" released only four days before the ACTUAL Date Week released.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Tanner and Marie made a brief appearance in "BOYFRIEND DIED AND BECAME A GHOST?!" Later that day, their full mod would release.
  • It's Popular, So It Sucks!: The series has completely overtaken Among Us Logic's place as GameToons' flagship series. This comes to the annoyance of some fans, who want Among Us Logic back or at least want something else. When said series finally got revived with Among Us Logic, But The Impostor Works Out, some fans were begging GameToons to outright cancel FNFL in favor of more AUL episodes.
  • Quietly Cancelled: No new episode had been made since January of 2022, meaning it is most likely cancelled. Unlike with Among Us Logic, which had reasons for the end of its own run, Friday Night Funkin' seems to had ended simply to make way for newer Logic shows such as Poppy Playtime Logic.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Many people take issue with the series due to how drastically it differs from the mods it draws from, to the point where it feels like GameToons doesn't do their research and takes the mods at face value. "Highlights" include Boyfriend being Adapted Out, Daisy, Suicide Mouse, and Monika's classmates undergoing Adaptational Villainy; Hank undergoing Adaptational Heroism; Fleetway Sonic and Sonic.exe being the same character; things like Suicide Mouse being retooled for kids at all; Jeff the Killer having some cursed knife that makes the wielder into a killer like him; Parappa's Adaptational Jerkass; Skid and Pump being scared of Mr. Clown; Jack the Stickman speaking and being The Comically Serious; Ruv being killed when he and Sarv are immortal; and so on.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: When "GIRLFRIEND'S SUMMER VACATION" came out, some fans were expecting Beach Brother to make an appearance. But Katelynn ended up being the star of the episode instead, disappointing some, and he wasn't mentioned either.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Considering the mod they were based off of, the "EVIL BOYFRIEND" videos could've delved into a Darker and Edgier arc similar to the No Visor arc from Among Us Logic. However instead, both videos had the corruption get resolved at the end of the episode, with only brief foreshadowing of it returning.
