  • Adorkable:
  • Awesome Music: Rosie and the Raven, the song used for the credits is a catching song full of references to known gothic poems.
  • Base-Breaking Character: While most of the cast is well-regarded, there are a few divisive ones.
    • Cancel has stirred quite a bit of controversy. Some like her for her elegant appearance and her dignified personality. Others openly dislike her for being too crude and arrogant towards others.
    • Cross is a bit divisive due to his cold and cynical demeanor. Many love his character for treating the killing game realistically and actually holding characters like Corza accountable when they hide information. This combined with his politeness makes him Unintentionally Sympathetic to his fans. Others dislike him for constantly bringing up his distrust of others and being distant and somewhat uncaring to the cast. It also doesn’t help that he both interrogated Corza after he experienced a traumatic incident and slapped Rox, both of which are fan favorites.
    • Grisp is either seen as annoying or hilarious, due to his overtly comedic personality. Grisp’s fans love his loud demeanor, funny nicknames, and being surprisingly protective of the cast despite claiming to dislike “city-dwellers”. Those that dislike Grisp, however, think he’s too much of an irritating Cloud Cuckoo Lander despite the rest of the cast having more grounded personalities. His design is also a bit divisive, with people either loving it for its uniqueness, or finding it unattractive compared to the other characters.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Pocket gained a large number of fans immediately due to his hilarious reactions to the insanity around him.
  • Jerkass Woobie: While most of the cast are good and kind-hearted people, even the biggest assholes of the cast are sympathetic in one way or another.
    • Moraiteru is easily the biggest Jerkass of the cast, being the most openly self-centered and antagonistic. She tends to make insensitive jokes about the killing game, even threatening to kill Yaxi as a supposed prank. However, it’s clear that her reasons for acting so cruel and apathetic is because she’s actually scared on the inside and desperately wants to seem tough so people don’t target her. It’s also implied through her profile card that she has Abusive Parents, who according to her Cabin Confiding, didn’t accept her bisexuality.
    • Cancel is a very cold and mean person, tending to make rude insults towards nice characters like Rock or Yaxi for little good reason. Cancel also appears very arrogant and comes across as she thinks she’s above everyone else. However, she has Abusive Parents who use her talent for selfish purposes, making Cancel miss the loving relationship she once had with them. On top of this, Cancel has some of the most difficulty handling the cruel Killing Game, having one of the biggest reactions upon seeing Rox’s corpse.
    • Downplayed with Cross, who’s more distant and cynical than an outright Jerkass, but he has his insensitive moments. He even ruthlessly interrogated Corza regarding his punishment despite his discomfort and also slapped Rox in a state of panic. However, much like Moraiteru, he acts more in fear than any sense of malice. His distant nature is a way of protecting himself, just like her. On top of this, he reveals the father he looked up to was murdered, causing him to become the ruthless businessman he is today. He’s also implied to be lonely and sad on the inside, as his Cabin Confiding implies women seem to only be interested in him for his money, with his dogs being his only source of companionship.
  • Unintentionally Sympathetic: During Episode 7, Cross slaps Rox in a state of panic after she calls out Cross for trying to get Corza to confess how he was punished in the Sacrifice Game, despite him clearly not wanting to talk about it and touches him on the shoulder. Multiple characters, such as Grisp, Enigma, and especially Pocket show visible anger at Cross over this, or even think about revenge against him. However, Cross only did this out of paranoia out of her cornering him and not respecting his personal space. While Cross’s actions might not have been totally justified, the cast all getting disproportionately angry at him for this when Rox should have known not to touch those she hardly knows in a case like this can really give off a poor impression and makes one unintentionally feel bad for Cross.
    • What doesn't help this situation is that Moraiteru has done way worse than Cross and is far more antagonistic, yet never really receives the same amount of disgust or hatred for any of her actions. The biggest example of this is when Moraiteru casually threatens Yaxi with a knife during the Side Game. While everyone is understandably paranoid when this happens, and they all immediately rush to defend Yaxi, as soon as she drops the knife and reveals it's all a "joke", no one aside from Twin and Yaxi calls her out for her callousness. Grisp immediately sees through her facade and knows she is doing it out of fear, so everyone seems to accept her excuse as if that makes her actions justifiable. This is in contrast to Cross, who hits Rox out of paranoia, and immediately receives hatred and disgust from the cast, especially Pocket, who wants to beat him up, even though it's also clear Cross did it out of fear. As a result, it comes across more as the cast having a misplaced sense of chivalry, getting angry at Cross less because of his reasons but because he hit a woman, as opposed to Moraiteru who downright threatened to kill someone.
    • Cross in general can come across as this trope. He's supposed to appear cold and uncaring, but he's actually relatively polite to others, and is never unnecessarily cruel. While he did reveal the two corpses behind the red door to everyone, it's clear that Cross isn't doing this out of malice, but to make sure the others see the true reality of the killing game. His lack of trust in others is more than justified considering the situation, but some of the cast treats him as cold just for treating the killing game realistically. It also doesn't help that his father was murdered, making his distrust for others even more justified.
