Enigma will either become or be related to the "Twisted Rival" of the killing game.
- In his biography card, Enigma is stated to dislike horses and bagels. Both of which are related to Kokichi Ouma and Nagito Komaeda respectively. The term "horse" is used in spelling Kokichi's name and (according to the fandom) bagels are the only thing in the world that Nagito loves besides hope. So with these two clues in mind, something tells me that Enigma will have a role that's either similar to the two of them or will become something of an inversion to them.
- The rival is confirmed to be Moraiteru instead in the first half of the first case's investigation.
Twin suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder.
- The obvious answer would be that Twin has a twin. But considering that this is Dangan Ronpa, it would be an interesting twist if the boy had a disorder that resulted in him having an alternate personality. And if that's the case, then one can only hope that the concept will be treated with more care and respect compared to how Touko and Genocider Syo were written.
Enigma is a Decoy Protagonist.
- His ahoge is very small to the point it might not even be considered one at all, and in the intro a bullet is seen aiming towards him, indicating he may be marked for death. Enigma will either be the first victim or the first killer of the series. It is likely that Anon will be the real protagonist of the series.

- While there are significant amounts of hints from splash art and the character trailers, everyone's talents are still a mystery.

- There are only 14 students who are involved in the killing game. To fulfill the standard 16, two more students will participate during the middle of the game. It's also likely that they will be girls since the current number of girl students are short 2 to make a Gender-Equal Ensemble.
Enigma is the Ultimate Serial Killer/Assassin/Hitman/Stabby McMurder
- Even though he's the only one without a talent, having Enigma's talent be hidden was done on purpose by the mastermind in order to keep the other Ultimates from trying to attack him. Plus it would be despair inducing if the cool and supportive protagonist turned out to be a cold blooded Professional Killer.
- The first scene of the Shattered Hope series features a news report that shows multiple murders and corpses. Whether it's tied to Enigma or not, those events are still going to be of some importance in the game.
- His jacket has two skulls with halos and blood dripping from their mouths. This is even featured in his segment of the intro.
- During the intro, Enigma is shown shooting someone (Anon) only for the bullet to turn back to him. While this could be based on the protagonist aesthetic, this could imply that Enigma will try to kill someone only for the murder to backfire on him.
- When meeting Rock in the classroom, he jokes about the lesson of the class being on how to snap someone's neck.
Rock will be a suspect during the first trial and Enigma will have to clear his name.
- Some suspect that Rock may potentially end up as the first victim or killer due to his early interactions with Enigma, but maybe he's instead being set up as a Red Herring. With Rock's line about trusting others, perhaps Enigma will have to prove Rock's innocence at some point during the first trial.
- Rock becomes the one to discover the first victim. He is heavily suspected by Cross during the investigation, too.
Corza is an unwilling traitor.
- He has some sort of past with Rule or the person controlling him, and is not allowed to talk about it.
- During Episode 7, he alone is sent to participate in another sacrifice game, in which he refuses to follow through and is punished. However, his punishment goes unseen and doesn't end with his death, implying Rule might have some reason to keep him alive.
The mastermind is Junko again.
