Amphibia

  • A Moth to a Flame: Marcy has this attitude towards Anne for rejecting her We Can Rule Together pitch and getting into a fight to stop her.
Marcy: You think I wanted any of this, Anne? You think I want to do this to you?! You think I want to see you in so much pain?!

Channel Awesome

Danganronpa

  • Throughout The Lion's Den, the various members of Ultimate Despair tend to blame Naegi for what they're doing to them. Komaeda and Kuzuryu are especially fond of this.

  • Cupid's Wrath: In the sequel, Pauline kidnaps Danny and ties him up with the Fenton Fisher. When he defiantly spits in her face, she promptly slaps him, then blames him for "making her" do that.

Death Note

  • In I Won't Say, Light makes clear to L that while he intends to spare him due to his infatuation with the detective, that consideration doesn't extend to ''others", make it a matter of "Don't make me kill anyone else."
  • Seigikan: After L leaves Light frustrated after one of their encounters, Light turns around and takes out his frustrations through the Death Note. He then makes sure to heavily imply to L why he did what he did, without openly admitting that he's Kira:
Light: With the lack of evidence that links these people to their crimes would suggest that Kira is sexually frustrated and is taking it out on his victims... I mean if I was Kira, then that would be the perfect symbolic gesture to send to people.
L: You shouldn't have done this.
Light: You shouldn't have ignored me.

Disney Animated Canon

  • To Extinguish The Sun: As far as Mateo is concerned, he never hurts anyone of his own accord. No, no, it's always the fault of his victims — they're asking for it by not cooperating with him!
Mateo: It's a shame you make me do this to you, Camilo. This would all be so much less hassle if you just played nice.
  • The Ice Behind Bars: One of Jamie's favorite tactics is convincing Elsa that she deserves every bit of abuse he heaps upon her, claiming that he's only torturing her because she's a 'monster' who supposedly killed her mother and sister by losing control of her powers.
  • In There Sleeps A Living Flower, Anna's father insists that she's a "bad girl", and that he only ever beats her because she's either not doing enough to support him or keeps talking back.

Hellaverse

  • Growing Up Impish: Georgie constantly abused Moxxie the whole time they were dating, while insisting that it was solely Moxxie's fault that he kept hurting him. If only he didn't make him mad...
  • Striker Strikes Back: After Moxxie tries to kill Valentino to defend Vox and fails, Valentino berates him for this, blaming him for how he was "forced" to beat Vox to death while Moxxie listened in horror. The already guiltstricken Moxxie is completely convinced that it's all his fault.

Hetalia: Axis Powers

  • Mistakes portrays the relationship of Imperial Japan and Korea this way; Kiku beats Yong-Soo for misdemeanours such as speaking in Korean or questioning the Emperor and then makes him thank him for the "lesson". Kiku genuinely believes this is the right thing to do, but of course that doesn't help.

Les Misérables

Miraculous Ladybug

  • Feralnette AU: During one of her nightmares, Marinette finds herself cornered by Chat Blanc, who repeatedly demands that she give him her Earrings. When she refuses, he clasps the sides of her head with both hands and Cataclysms her, while asking "Did you lose them? Give them to me. Give them to me. Give them to me." After her head explodes into butterflies, he casually remarks "Oh, I guess you didn't have them after all. What a shame. Remember I love you."

OMORI

  • Hands: Shortly before her death, Mari blames Sunny for how she slapped him in the face after he tried to resist her forcing herself upon him.
Mari: I'm sorry I hit you, but you shouldn't have made me do it. I love you, you know.

Pokémon

  • In Cori Falls's fic Blood on the Moon, Jessie takes it way too personally when James is cranky and gets it into her head that this means he's turning abusive. She hits him, tells him to go to hell and the narrative explicitly states that he brought it on himself by being cranky.

Real-Person Fic

  • From Episode 36 of the Professional Wrestling series The JWL: The Arn Andersonnote -Stevie Richards match started with Arn controlling and Stevie tried to bail, but Raven, his boss in Raven's Nest, decked Stevie, knocked him to the floor and slapped him around, telling him, "You made me do that! I didn't want to, but you made me!" Arn, for his part, just looked on in confusion.note

She isn't an abuse victim—she's too big and strong to be one. She just doesn't deserve Lapis' affection or good side because she's a bad girlfriend.

Tolkien's Legendarium

  • Combined with Abusive Parents in Heart of Ashes; when Freyja dares to tell her mother Andraya that she's too afraid to be impregnated by Smaug for the powerful offspring Andraya wants, Andraya slaps Freyja before going from furious into self-righteously affectionate.
Andraya: Oh now look what you've done dear. My poor baby... I do not mean to hurt you dear, but you must understand: fear is a weakness that we cannot have.
