This webcomic will assume that you already know a lot about Undertale, including its Genocide route, so any spoilers related to the game are unmarked here. You Have Been Warned!

Timetale is an ongoing Undertale web comic by AllesiaTheHedge, depicting a new chain of events within the Undertale universe.

Timetale takes place around the time Toriel just left Asgore, and with Gaster having just disappeared, it’s up to Sans to find a way to break the barrier. After an incident in the Lab that Sans was right in the middle of, flashbacks of their childhood memories are relived for unknown reasons. One thing is clear; before the incident, Frisk was on a Genocide run, but now Sans is back in time before this occurred. That is not the only thing that seems to have arisen from their past though, as it will begin to haunt him even when Frisk makes their appearance...

The story can be read here and here.

This story contains the following examples:

  • Adaptation Expansion: While it is known that Gaster could be the father of Sans and Papyrus in canon, it's unknown whether or not they ever had a mother. However, here, said mother, Corvsiva, is one of the driving forces of the plot.
  • Affectionate Nickname:
    • Sans is repeatedly called "Sansy" by Corvsiva, who, at times, is partly annoyed with it.
    • Before the climatic battle of Chapter 2, Sans addresses Alphys with one; "A-love", as a call-back to their original romantic bond.
  • Better as Friends: Sans and Alphys once had a romantic bond with one another prior to this story, though they eventually broke up, with Alphys crushing on Undyne instead. Though, even after all those years, Sans hasn't lost care for Alphys, no matter how many times they've argued in their job. It comes to a head when he gives out an Anguished Declaration of Love to her before cutting all connection off between them and facing Frisk alone.
  • Big "NO!":
    • At the climax of Chapter 1, Alphys lets one out upon seeing Undyne die. Her wish to go back in time to fix things kickstarts this story's plot.
    • Alphys, Raffy and Jade let one out once they hear the punishment Sans has in mind for them for not doing their jobs right; to cut their wages, either temporarily or permanently.
    • Sans lets an even bigger one out once he discovers Papyrus's dead body. Corvsiva is trying desperately to hold back her tears, while this pushes Sans to his Rage Breaking Point.
  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: When Alphys is pressured early on in Chapter 1, she's willing to accept whatever punishment Sans has planned in his Tranquil Fury. However, she didn't expect that kind of Pun-ishment coming.
Sans: Perhaps you could HAND me some cups of kepCHIPS to help m'self UP.
    Alphys: A-AGAIN?!
Sans: (walking off) See you soon in my off-ICE.
    Alphys: GAH!
  • Downer Ending: Chapter 2 concludes with Sans dying, having failed to stop Frisk in their tracks. However, he finds Alphys in the afterlife, meaning that they might get a chance to finally patch things up personally...
  • The Hero Dies: The ultimate fate of Sans at the end of the story's second chapter, getting killed not by Frisk, but by what appears to be Asriel.
  • Hurricane of Puns: Like in canon, Sans is prone to letting these out whenever he pleases. Early on in the story, Papyrus and Alphys both have to hear the worst of it much to their annoyance. Even in the midst of his fight with Frisk, he still can't help but throw one out every now and then.
  • Ironic Echo: Most of the plot is kickstarted after Alphys mentions that she wishes she could go back in time to put things right and save Undyne. Later on, when she says the same thing after the Genocide run starts off for real, Sans is unable to respond, walking away in shame that what he did wasn't enough to save anybody.
  • No OSHA Compliance: Surprisingly subverted this time, with the bridge separating Snowdin and the door to the Ruins now having iron bars to prevent people from potentially falling off.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Frisk lets one out during their fake apology, concerning an apparent Commonality Connection they share. Sans, however, isn't easily fooled.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Subverted this time for Sans and Papyrus, who are both capable of moving their mouths to express further emotions here.
  • Precision F-Strike: A variant of one, Raffy angrily tells Alphys to "Shut the hell up!" when she tries to explain the circumstances. Needless to say, this, combined with Raffy's general arrogance, lands him in heavy trouble with Sans.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Sans is already demonstrated to have a pretty bad temper with things throughout the story. However, once Frisk has slain Papyrus, he has gone absolutely livid, even planning to forego his promise with Toriel just to kill them.
