The Northern Incident
is a web animation created by HotDiggedyDemon. A fisherman decides to stay in a shack up in the Yukon Territories for a few days alongside his dog King, but he's not alone...
The Northern Incident contains examples of:
- Black Comedy: A short about a fisherman and his dog being stalked by a strange monster while being stranded in the woods? Terrifying. The last-minute reveal that said monster are actually furries? Darkly hilarious.
- Canine Companion: Even with the monsters in the woods, the man has King to rely on. It's finding him disemboweled that heralds the Downer Ending.
- Closed Circle: Our protagonist could leave and evade his tormentors... if only his truck hadn't been stolen. And if the phone lines hadn't been cut.
- Death Cry Echo: After the fisherman is surrounded and grabbed by the furries, he lets out one as the screen cuts to black.
- Downer Ending: King is horribly slaughtered, and the fisherman himself is cornered to be presumably yiffed and/or killed.
- Enemy Eats Your Lunch: Man sets an uneaten sandwich on the side. He goes out to relieve himself in the woods. He returns to find that someone... or something had took a bite out of it.
- Emerging from the Shadows: This, accompanied by a Lightning Reveal, is used at the very end to show The Reveal.
- Gutted Like a Fish: The unfortunate fate of King.
- It Can Think: Whatever they are, they are smart enough to steal trucks and cut telephone wires.
- Lightning Reveal: This, alongside the creatures Emerging from the Shadows, is used at the very end to show The Reveal.
- Minimalist Cast: Just the fisherman, his dog, and whatever it is that's lurking in the woods.
- Nothing Is Scarier: The shadow monsters are never seen in full until the final moments.
- Ominous Knocking: Repeatedly used - the fisherman hears a knock at the door, and opens it to find... nothing.
- The Reveal: The shadow monsters are furries.
- Snow Means Death: The video is set in the Yukon Territories in the midst of heavy snowfall. It ends with King and the fisherman's horrible demises at the paws of furries.
