Welcome to the nostalgia corner!
NostalgiaSquare is a semi-popular Scratcher who makes animations/anime videos and other projects on scratch, he has been on Scratch since either 2016 or 2017. But suffered from a hiatus in 2018 due to his account getting banned for bad behavior, he later returned in 2019 and in a good way. The show also has a spin-off called Life of a Square, which was released on July 2, 2020. The show's episodes after Danger Strikes Back are labeled as The Post-Climax Episodes. The show features characters such as NostalgiaSquare, Green Square, Classic Bully, Scratch Cat, and more.

The show currently has 8 seasons with seasons 3 and 4 having the least episodes with only about 3 in both.

Despite how the show looks like, it is not an American or Western cartoon. The show can be found here and is also planning to have a Western tv show coming to a streaming service or social media platform.

The show has another series titled Nostalgia Square Shorts.

Tropes that applies to the web-series

  • Author Avatar: NostalgiaSquare is based on the creator. There is also his evil counterpart, Evil NostalgiaSquare.
  • Berserk Button: NostalgiaSquare will get absolutely pissed off if someone calls him stupid. Although this trait hasn't shown up in a decade.
  • Butt-Monkey:
    • NostalgiaSquare frequently gets bad luck or gets injured or hurt in one way or another in most episodes. However, given that he acts like a Jerkass to just about almost everyone he comes across, it’s not that it’s underserved occasionally.
    • Green Square gets mocked by everyone around him and even his closest friends (especially Red Circle) point out he’s annoying. However, much like NostalgiaSquare, this is arguably well-deserved given how selfish, remorseless and arrogant he is.
    • Scratch Cat slowly starts becoming this as of late-Season 7, as he is shown to get a variety of bad luck such as money being thrown into his face in "NostalgiaSquare And The Epic Challenge" and by Green Square throwing him at Death Row Dave in the episode "Don't Deal With Dave". Before that, he was even poisoned by Dave in said episode.
  • Couch Gag: As of the episode, A Troubling Day, the characters will say something before the intro ends. Usually NostalgiaSquare himself does it due to being the protagonist, but if it's not NostalgiaSquare doing it, it's either Green Square or Chryso, and occasionally several minor characters.
  • Demoted to Extra: Because of the extremely large cast of characters in the series. Many former supporting characters have been sidelined.
    • Peachy was originally a somewhat main character in the series. Appearing as one of NostalgiaSquare's best friends from Seasons 2 to 5, and helped him try to get Flash back in one episode. Come to Season 6, his appearances have decreased and got even worse in Season 7 onwards.
    • Naturally, characters that are parodies of already existing characters will suffer from this (except for maybe the Alphabet Lore cast, who still pop out every once in awhile). For example, Mugman got Killed Off for Real after his spotlight episode. Likewise, his brother Cuphead was killed off for awhile, but makes sporadic appearances after his revival. The Goomba (the one based off of the Mario enemy) used to be prominent earlier on but quickly became an extremely rarely seen character after season 1. And SpongeBob isn't seen as often as he used to. It's very likely they will suffer the same fate once the television series comes out.
  • Fake Shemp: Peachy uses voice clips that are from the character Heavy from Team Fortress 2.
  • The Friends Who Never Hang:
    • To be excepted for a show with so many characters. NostalgiaSquare very rarely interacts with NostalgiaGirl (they only ever talked to each other in NostalgiaGirl's Crush) and has never once interacted Cool Blue, despite the three of them being considered main characters. Green Square and Scratch Cat also rarely interacts with the modern cast, such as Classic Bully, Sidney, Cool Blue, Classic Bully 2, Starboy, Fallen Star, Clancy, Classical Bully, Molly, and Cronica.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Most of the citizens in Scratch Town can get angry quite easily, especially NostalgiaSquare himself. Yes, even the calmer characters have their moments.
  • Intellectual Animal: Half of NostalgiaSquare's friends (Scratch Cat, Molly, Cronica, and several others) are animals, but they are shown to be very smart and sapient, as they are able to talk, express emotions, and have a decent level of intelligence.
  • Iconic Item: As of Season 4, NostalgiaSquare is almost never seen without his green hat.
  • Man of a Thousand Voices: Benjamin Carbone, who is the creator of the web-series, voices a good chunk of the characters, including NostalgiaSquare (in most projects and episodes), Green Square, Sidney, Evil NostalgiaSquare, Molly, Cronica, DarkHead, Red Circle, Y from Alphabet Lore, Cuphead, SpongeBob, Mario, Homer Simpson, The Goomba and more characters from already existing franchise. He also used to voice Scratch Cat and Classical Bully 2 until they were replaced by TTS Brian (A GoAnimate voice) and a Synth Pad respectively.
  • Nice Mean And In Between: In terms of the three main characters from the classic era, Scratch Cat is nice considering he wants to help out people and is only harsh to others if necessary. Green Square is downplayed on the mean part considering he is also generally nice, but he does come off as insanely arrogant and sometimes even rude a lot of the time. NostalgiaSquare is in-between due to mostly being nice, but can have anger issues sometimes which can go too far, unlike with Scratch Cat. However, there are times where NostalgiaSquare and Green Square can switch places because NostalgiaSquare has many Jerkass moments.
  • Smart Animal, Average Human: Downplayed since NostalgiaSquare is shown to be smart most of the time, but he's also rather bone-headed at times, as he's prone to doing thoughtless and stupid things because of his own selfishness and Spoiled Brat nature. Meanwhile, the animals (mainly that of Scratch Cat, Molly, Cronica, and Lightlow) have been shown to have much more consistent and higher intelligence than NostalgiaSquare, as they are able to think things through, solve their problems without violence, and are able to express their emotions. They are also able to talk to each other and to the other characters, and have been shown to be very cunning and helpful as well.
  • Token Human: NostalgiaSquare is the only human of the main cast. Although there are other humans in the series, they are little more than supporting or minor characters.
  • Talking Animal: Some of NostalgiaSquare's friends (such as Molly and Scratch Cat) are animals and are somehow capable of speaking normally.
