Old World Music is a 2022 animated short animated by Adler the Eagle and written by Zee Shadowfox, with voice acting by Mr. Regular (the Regular Car Reviews guy), BetaEtaDelota, and Kiit Lock.

It follows three anthropomorphic animal characters: Ott, Valentine, and Hoosk, who come across a new "music machine" in a junkyard: a boom box on top of a car. Ott chimes in, questioning why Hoosk and Valentine would be interested in toying around with something that produces "beeps and noise". They respond, stating that "old world music isn't for everyone" and that "it takes a refined ear." Soon enough, Valentine decides to "play some music" by... smashing a car window and subsequently dancing to the alarm noises with Hoosk, to the chagrin of Ott.

It takes a refined ear to list these tropes:

  • Accessory-Wearing Cartoon Animal: The only article of clothing any of the characters wear are neckerchiefs.
  • All There in the Script: The names of the characters are never mentioned in the short proper, but the credits and the description of the video reveal them to be Valentine, Hoosk, and Ott.
  • Bait-and-Switch: When Valentine gets to the boom box on the car with Hoosk, it initially looks like he's about to turn on said boom box. Instead, he smashes the car window, causing it to set off the alarm.
  • Minimalist Cast: There are only three characters in the entire short: Valentine, Hoosk, and Ott.
