Half-Genie Soldier is a series of Source FilmMaker shorts created by TheLeondude focusing on the random exploits of a BLU Soldier inhabiting Shantae's body via Cappy.

I have commandeered these tropes!:
- Added Alliterative Appeal: When the Half-Genie Soldier was spinning in the air in 'Demoman's Controversial Opinion', the subtitles referred to it as 'Soldier Shantae Sheev spin'
- Ass Shove: How the RED Demoman was killed by the Half-Genie Soldier (he gets better). The BLU Soldier made Shantae turn into her monkey form and had her crawl up the Demoman's ass and through his insides.
- RED Demoman: Ah! Me wee arse!
- It's implied this is what the RED Soldier did to Merasmus at the end of 'The Vicious Cycle of Capturing the Cappy'.
- Bait-and-Switch: The titular opinion in 'Demoman's Controversial Opinion'. He tells the Half-Genie Soldier he doesn't find Ryuko from Kill la Kill sexy, with the Soldier ready to bash his head in with a Market Gardener until Demoman says "Except when she's in her underwear".
- Be Careful What You Wish For: Let's just say the RED Demoman should have thought twice about wishing for a drink in 'The ½ Genie Soldier Strikes Again' when the Half-Genie Soldier breaks the beer bottle and uses it to castrate him.
- Big "NO!": Merasmus when the RED Soldier shoves a Rabbid up his ass.
- Boom, Headshot!: The RED Sniper does this to the BLU Soldier in 'The Vicious Cycle of Capturing the Cappy' after shooting Cappy off of Shantae's head.
- Butt-Monkey: The RED Demoman. Barring 'Demoman's Controversial Opinion' (and even then, he looked banged up in that one), something bad always happens to him every time he appears.
- The Half-Genie Soldier themselves tend to be this in recent shorts. Though, given what the BLU Soldier is like, it can be seen as karmic.
- Crossover: Between Team Fortress 2, Shantae, and Super Mario Odyssey. Also, there were cameos by the Rabbids and Scathach in 'The Vicious Cycle of Capturing the Cappy'.
- Death Is Cheap: Because characters can respawn, no-one ever stays dead in these shorts. Even both halves of the titular Half-Genie Soldier got killed twice in the series and came back no worse for wear.
- Early Installment Character-Design Difference: In the first two shorts, Cappy took the form of the Tyrant's Helm instead of the Wiki Cap form he has throughout the rest of the shorts.
- Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: The Half-Genie Soldier does this during their Badass Boast when they realize a brain worm is eating Shantae's brain.
- BLU Soldier: If God had wanted you to live, he would not have made me a mindless puppet of this brain maggot! Wait a minute. GAAAAH! THERE'S A MAGGOT EATING SHANTAE'S BRAIN!
- Freudian Threat: '½ Genie Soldier Threatens To Castrate Demoman'. It's Exactly What It Says on the Tin.
- Half-Genie Soldier: I will rip off your dick and crap in your dick-hole!
- Fun with Subtitles: The subtitles in these shorts have some very amusing descriptions of actions. For instance, when the Half-Genie Soldier turned into a monkey, the subtitles say 'return to monke'.
- Grand Theft Me: The titular Half-Genie Soldier is the result of the BLU Soldier using Cappy to possess Shantae's body.
- Groin Attack: The Half-Genie Soldier, after granting RED Demoman's wish for a drink, breaks the beer bottle and uses it to stab him in the junk.
- The RED Sniper is on the receiving end of one when the BLU Demoman shoots a stickybomb at his crotch before blowing him up.
- I Need a Freaking Drink: RED Demoman says this near-verbatim in 'The ½ Genie Soldier Strikes Again'. He most likely regretted saying it in front of a half-genie possessed by his frenemy.
- Instant Soprano: After being castrated by the BLU Soldier in 'The ½ Genie Soldier Strikes Again', the RED Demoman lets out a very high-pitched scream.
- Killed Mid-Sentence: Well, more like mid-singing but the RED Heavy was killed by the Half-Genie Soldier in 'Shantae - ½ Genie Mindless Puppet of This Brain Maggot' while he was in the middle of singing to his Sandvich.
- Ms. Fanservice: Lampshaded in 'Half-Genie Facts':
- Half-Genie Soldier: Men, these are the facts as I understand them: One! I am a pretty half-genie. Two! I have female bosoms that get bigger every time I feel them up!
- Mythology Gag: 'Half-Genie Facts' is shot in a way similar to the ending of 'Meet the Soldier'.
- Neck Snap: The BLU Scout somehow managed to do this to himself in 'The Vicious Cycle of Capturing the Cappy' by looking at Cappy then Scathach then back at Cappy.
- Power Perversion Potential: Most likely the only reason why the BLU Soldier continuously uses Cappy to possess Shantae. Especially when he mentions her boobs getting bigger every time he feels them up.
- Precision F-Strike: The RED Demoman's response to seeing the BLU Soldier trying to pee while possessing Shantae's body is to shout "For fuck sake, Soldier!".
- Running Gag: The BLU Soldier being unable to pronounce Shantae's name correctly, pronouncing it as 'Shan-tow' in 'The ½ Genie Soldier Strikes Again' and 'Sun-tan' in 'Shantae - ½ Genie Mindless Puppet of This Brain Maggot'.
- There's also the Demoman saying 'What?' in a shocked manner.
- Slasher Smile: The Half-Genie Soldier is very fond of flashing these.
- The RED Soldier gives one to Merasmus before shoving a Rabbid up his ass.
- Serious Business: If 'Demoman's Controversial Opinion' is anything to go by, telling the Half-Genie Soldier Ryuko from Kill la Kill isn't sexy is punishable by death.
- Shout-Out: As one would expect from something by TheLeondude:
- The BLU Spy, after seeing the events of both '½ Genie Soldier' and 'The ½ Genie Soldier Strikes Again' comments that what happened was idiotic and that he's off to hang himself.
- The Half-Genie Soldier telling the RED Demoman what they are in 'The ½ Soldier Strikes Again' is a reference to Mako's speeches from Kill la Kill. The subtitles even call it a 'Kill la Kill reference'.
- The RED Demoman showing up to tell the Half-Genie Soldier his controversial opinion is shot in a way similar to when the clones are about to arrest Krell in 'Carnage of Krell'. It even has the same music as that scene.
- Showing Off the New Body: The BLU Soldier is implied to do this regularly.
- RED Demoman: For fuck sake, Soldier! Do you have to be possessing Shantae twenty-four hours a day?!
Half-Genie Soldier: What? I like the way she looks in the mirror.
- Synthetic Voice Actor: 15.ai is occasionally used to provide the voices of the BLU Soldier and RED Demoman'.
- Villain Protagonist: The BLU Soldier, if regularly hijacking Shantae's body and using it to gleefully murder and castrate his way through the RED team is anything to go by.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: Despite how often they try to murder each other, the RED Demoman and BLU Soldier are described as on-again-off-again-besties. It certainly helps that there are shorts where they aren't trying to kill each other.
- Voices Are Mental: The Half-Genie Soldier constantly speaks in the BLU Soldier's voice despite possessing a female body.
- Wolverine Publicity: The only reason why the Half-Genie Soldier even appeared in 'The Vicious Cycle of Capturing the Cappy'.
