The 22 contestants and the 2 hosts. Notice how 5 of them are dogs.
Battle of the Breeds (abbreviated as BOTB) is an Object Show created by Gabriel Grant (RangoAnimations). The show is hosted by an egotistical anthropomorphic paw print named Paw, and his good-willed and curious young assistant, TV. The show features 20 anthropomorphic characters which included 16 objects along with 4 anthropomorphic dogs battling to win a prize of $100,000,000 (the number became 22 in BOTB 8). The show premiered on January 29, 2017.

BOTB has examples of:

  • A Dog Named "Dog": Everyone on the show who isn't an animal is named after the object they resemble.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: Everyone (sans Cookie, Dio, Max, Rango, Ryan) are living objects.
  • Art Evolution: The show had a major upgrade in the 7th episode and a huge background design change in the 8th episode.
  • Anthropomorphic Food: In this show we have AJ, Carrot, Pudding, and now Gum.
  • April Fools' Day: The joke 8th episode which has suckish animation
  • Armless Biped: Battery, Pencil Top and Ruler are the only ones that fall into this trope.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Most of the characters are this.
  • Crowded-Cast Shot: The intro ends on a shot of every character in the plains.
  • Darker and Edgier: The fourth and especially the fifth episode. It was so edgy the creator resents making these episodes. However it went back to comedic in the sixth.
  • Death Is Cheap: Most of the contestants have died once.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: In the original pilot for the show (created in 2016), Paw had a brother named Blue Paw who served as the co-host for the series. When the show premiered in January of 2017, he was taken out and replaced with TV. Carrot only spoke in the pilot, only to become totally mute in the actual series. In the first 3 episodes, the dogs had no nose and it looked absolutely weird. They finally got noses in Episode 4.
  • Eject the Loser: The eliminated people get sent to the Box of Losers. The recommended characters who didn't join in "Sculpt for Success" were kicked out with a giant shoe on a pole, possibly to be never seen again.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Max is the silly, naïve and adventurous Husky twin while Ryan is the smarter, more collected and down to earth sibling despite Max being the older one (by 30 seconds).
  • Funny Animal: The dogs of the show (Cookie, Dio, Max, Rango Ryan) all act like people.
  • Fun with Acronyms: Battle of the Breeds is referred as its abbreviation, BOTB. (People pronounce either as how you say the letters or as Bot-ub)
  • Instrumental Theme Tune: The show's intro music is "Whistle Song" by Sim Gretina
  • Killed Off for Real: Red Marker, who was killed in BOTB 5 by Paw shooting him.
  • Larynx Dissonance: Pencil Top has a high feminine voice while Caney has a harsh masculine voice.
  • Only Sane Man: CD is the grumpy sane person in a team of weirdos.
  • Silent Snarker: Carrot has her fair shares of snark.
  • Ship Tease: Cookie has her moments of being having a crush on Rango. She calls him "my sweet Rango" in Sculpt for Success.
  • Short-Runner: BOTB Mini, the spinoff show ran for only 3 episodes before being cancelled. It ran from December 30, 2020 to January 23, 2021.
  • Stylistic Suck: The joke 8th episode made for April Fools
  • Tertiary Sexual Characteristics: Averted Female characters look no different to male characters because they have no eyelashes
  • Valley Girl: Nail Polish
  • Vocal Evolution: Most of the characters go through this because of the creator who voiced most of them going through puberty. Pudding has a major vocal evolution because he got a new voice actor in episode 7.
  • The Voiceless: Carrot is mute.
  • Voted Off the Island: Viewers get to vote off the contestants.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Blue Paw, Paw's brother as seen in the 2016 pilot was never seen after the pilot episode.
  • Where the Hell Is Springfield?: The show takes place in a land called "Plateushire" however there are references to real world such as Cookie being Canadian. Word of God and the BOTB Wiki states that it's a region in the central Southeastern United States and the show takes place in the Woodfur Plains.
