WMG / Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie

Go To

Rena Rouge, Carapace and Queen Bee will be in the sequel movie
Given that the movie only focused on Ladybug and Cat Noir, it could be possible that the other three members of Team Miraculous will be active within it's sequel to take on a bigger villain, like Lila, Mayura or possibly even Félix.
  • In addition, Chloé will receive a proper character arc that won't end with a Redemption Rejection.

Lila will be an antagonist in a sequel
And much like how Gabriel had a proper My God, What Have I Done? moment in this movie, Lila will finally get some comeuppance in the sequel unlike the series.
  • While this might not be the last we'll see her as a villain, it WOULD mean that everyone would never see her the same way again.

Nathalie will be the sequel's Disc-One Final Boss
She will continue Gabriel's mission to bring Emilie back (implied, if not confirmed, to be because she's in love with her too). However, she will have a conflict of conscience and realize Emilie wouldn't want others to be sacrificed for her sake, giving the perfect opportunity for her Eviler than Thou lackey Lila to steal her Miraculous.

Chloé will be a Composite Character with Zoé
If it's true that Chloé will make a complete Heel–Face Turn in a sequel, there will be no need for her half-sister and Redeeming Replacement. Once bullying is no longer part of her character (becoming more of a Lovable Alpha Bitch), the gaps will be filled with Zoé's attributes, like struggles with being friendless and talent for acting.
  • That last bit might explain her interest in Adrien aside from him being rich and handsome, considering Emilie was an actress. Chloé would likely try to start relations with people connected to show-biz, starting with a talented actress' relative, and Alya filming her bullying Marinette is the right incentive to get her to stop. She doesn't want to be remembered on social media or any type of screen as a bully or unpleasant person altogether if she wants to make it big.

Chloé will remain a bully and be a villainous Miraculous user
Instead of going for a failed redemption arc, but maintaining her villainy, Queen Bee will be in league with Lila and Nathalie from the start.
  • However, this could be avoided if the right steps are taken.
  • If Pollen is able to choose her own holder the same way Tikki and Plagg are, than this seems unlikely since kwami in the movie are apparently able to determine who is worthy of their Miraculouses without the need for any Secret Test of Character. And if she can control her top the same way Tikki can cantrol her yoyo, then she would be able to prevent Queen Bee from engaging in any Engineered Heroics.

Similarly to how the movie ended with a close-in of Emilie wearing the Peacock brooch, the sequel would end on a panning shot of her engagement ring
Supposing her background is the same as the main show's, it could provide a source of conflict if Félix and Amélie show up, especially considering Gabriel was outed as a criminal this time.

If they do appear in movie continuity, Kagami and Félix will be together
With Gabriel's arrest and his double identity being made public, if Tomoe still exists and planned to work with him, she might settle down for a less controversial son-in-law with the same qualities Adrien had (if not more given how Adrien grew with a more mundane life than a model son sheltered to perfection). Which would ironically fit the until-recently model student Félix is. And since he doesn't have an identity to tend to, unlike Adrien in "Lies", his relationship with her would be honest and smooth, especially if he teaches her how to feel free from her mother.

If he appears Félix will have some minor Adaptational Heroism
Félix's actions towards Adrien's friends seem counterproductive to his goals of freeing Adrien with the benefit of hindsight. If he appears this time around, while he may still be an Anti-Villain, he won't be as needlessly antagonistic. Since he does care for his cousin, he may decide Adrien has gone through enough already.

The sequel will flip the show's dynamics between Adrien and Fu
Rather than hiding himself from Cat Noir until circumstances force the issue and even then barely meet with him at all, Fu will wish to know Cat's civilian identity so he can meet with and train him personally like he does with Ladybug. Instead it will be Adrien who insists on keeping a distance between them for fear that the Guardian will take his Miraculous away if he learns that he is the son of Hawk Moth. Meanwhile, poor Marinette will once again be stuck in the middle, wanting Adrien and Fu to meet properly, but also understanding that Cat's secret identity is not her's to share with anyone.
  • This could lead to a heartwarming moment near the end when the two of them finally meet and Fu assures Adrien that he does not hold him accountable for his father's crimes. He then goes further by reminding Adrien that he was the one who convinced Hawk Moth to see the error of his ways and surrender peacefully, and declare that Cat Noir has the makings of a great hero.

The Butterfly/Moth Miraculous was corrupted
Hawkmoth's brooch specifically creates villains out of anger and pain, despite Nooroo's insistence that a Miraculous should not be used for chaos and evil. This is because his Miraculous was corrupted in the time separate from the Miracle Box, possibly by being used by the ill-intentioned like Gabriel. After getting it back at the end of the movie, Master Fu will be working to restore the brooch's full, hero-creating power.

Chloé will still go through a Redemption Rejection in the sequel
Chloé still accidentally gains the Bee Miraculous and still attempts to crash a train in order to play at being a superhero. However, instead of being Easily Forgiven like she was in the show, Ladybug and Cat Noir call her out, pointing out how she could have killed people with that stuntnote , and refuse to let her keep being be Queen Bee. Publicity humiliated, Nathalie will use Chloé's resentment to convince her to make a Face–Heel Turn.

Kagami will appear in the sequel and attempt to steal Adrien from Marinette
This is actually pretty unlikely, but if they want to keep the romantic drama going, this is the best way to go, since Kagami was the only girl besides Marinette/Ladybug who even had a chance with Adrien in the show.
  • Basically, Kagami enrolls in school, and like in the show, she almost immediately falls head over heels for Adrien, or rather the idealized version of him she has crafted in her head. Unlike in the show, however, she will resent Marinette for being his girlfriend and plot to supplant her. To this end, she tries to monopolize Adrien's time for herself while not so subtly signaling her interest in him, while Marinette (who is fully aware of her plan) does everything she can to stop her, except for actually telling Adrien what's going on due to lingering insecurities causing her to doubt how much others trust her. Meanwhile, Adrien will be totally ignorant about what's going on until near the climax. Once he finally realizes what Kagami's true intentions are, he will be understandably furious with her, telling her in no uncertain terms that his heart belongs to Marinette, and that if she cannot accept that, than he cannot be friends with her.
    • When Kagami is alone and lost, Marinette will be the one who reaches out to her. This act of kindness from a girl she had treated with such scorn will force her to realize that everything she thought she knew about people and the world was wrong. When the final battle commences, Kagami will try to help out the best that she can. This act of courage plus her new growth as a person, will convince Longg that she is worthy of the Dragon Miraculous. Once the dust settles, Kagami will apologize to Adrien and Marinette for her actions. They will of course forgive her, and the three of them will finally become friends.

Emilie will be fought
Her body will be either akumatized or amokized, creating one of the tougher villains the heroes have to face, and not just because of the emotional strain on Cat Noir. It is unlikely Mayura would stoop to this, as her goal is Emilie's resurrection, so this would be Lila's doing.

Rena Rouge, Carapace, and Queen Bee will all go through a Training Montage in the sequel
When Alya, Nino and Chloé receive their Miraculouses, they will quickly prove to be even more inept with them than Ladybug and Cat Noir were when they first started. And with sentimonsters or whatever rampaging through the streets, they need to get their new "sidekicks" up to snuff as soon as possible. To that end, they will put them through a training regime that absolutely should be set to "Immortals" by Fall Out Boy.
  • Highlights of the montage will include:
    • Rena Rouge practicing with her flute-staff by blocking tennis balls being shot at her from an industrial grade launching machine. She manages to deflect the first few before the speed is turned up and she starts getting hit. Then the machine malfunctions and starts firing balls at high speed, pummelling her while Ladybug and Cat Noir try frantically to stop it.
    • Carapace using his shield the way Captain America does, only it'll backfire on him and cause much more damage to a part of Paris.
    • Queen Bee will be able to fire her Venom ability like a bullet from a gun, but her inability to hit the side of a building causes her to frequently paralyze inconvenient targets such as and especially Cat Noir. At one point Ladybug even uses him as a Human Shield against yet another wild shot. Cat Noir will get his revenge for that once Queen Bee masters her aim by "accidentally" bumping her elbow while she is celebrating with Ladybug, causing a Venom shot to hit the latter right between the eyes.

Movie Lila will be more in line with how she was initially presented in the show.
Aka she'll be Lila Rossi, the Italian diplomat's daughter who lies a lot and believes she's better than everyone else, and not a mysterious borderline-supernatural stranger with multiple identities and a lair under the city.

Movie Mayura will be at risk of losing her life to the Peacock Miraculous
If the Peacock Miraculous is damaged in the sequel just like in the series, then it's possible that Nathalie could risk losing her life if used one too many times, similar to Temp V from The Boys.

Rena Rouge, Carapace and Queen Bee's origins will be explained
The movie would most likely explain how Alya, Nino and Chloé became their superhero alter egos, like perhaps finding out the identities of Ladybug and Cat Noir or perhaps being chosen by Trixx, Wayzz and Pollen.

Lila's potential villainy will be a Red Herring in the movies
She will be introduced telling the same over-the-top lies about her celebrity connections, charity work, and travels across the world that everyone inexplicably believes without question. When Marinette confronts her over it, Lila will act just threatening enough to give the impression that she is just as evil and dangerous as she is in the show. Eventually, however, it is revealed that her attempt to intimidate Marinette was the same hot air as everything else she ever said, and that her true personality is more in line with what Adrien originally thought it was in the show: a normal girl who just wants to make friends and needs to be taught a better way to go about it. With the truth revealed, Marinette will reach out to her, sympathizing with her as another girl who was held back by her own insecurities and anxiety, and help her start over as a more honest and sincere person.

Tikki and Pollen will be Decomposite Characters
Tikki's personality in the film differs somewhat from in the show, being more pushy and spunky. Pollen, whose character was rather flat in the show, will be given Tikki's gentler side, leading to the bee Kwami acting as an almost maternal figure for her chosen holder Chloé.

Chloé's relationship with food will symbolize her journey to hero
The movie establishes Chloé watches what she eats, to the point eating bread with butter is unthinkable. There's potentially more significance to this, considering Marinette's family runs a bakery. The sequel will feature Chloé eating the so-called "carbs and fat" with gusto, not only to represent her improving relationship with Marinette, but her loosening up and becoming a nicer person.

The sequel will have a different version of the train incident
In the show, Chloé debuts as Queen Bee by paralyzing the driver of a subway train so she could "save" it, only to quickly lose control of the situation, forcing Ladybug to step in to prevent it from crashing. In the sequel movie, a similar incident will occur, only this time it will be caused by a villain, and Queen Bee will genuinely be trying to help, albeit primarily out of a desire to show off, only to get smooshed against the front of the train, requiring Ladybug to rescue her along with the passengers. Because of this small change in detail, the scene will demonstrate how Queen Bee has a lot to learn before she can become a real hero rather than foreshadow her failure to do so and ultimate turn to villainy.

The movie takes place in an alternate universe.
Following the events of the Ladybug special, Tales of Shadybug and Claw Noir, it is possible that the movie is set in an alternate universe and that some of its characters could cameo in the series.

Chloé's redemption arc will be started by her being Refused by the Call.
Because in this universe the kwamis choose their holders, when Chloé finds the Bee Miraculous, Pollen will firmly but kindly tell her that she's not worthy to wield it, citing her bullying and pointing out that she would most likely blow her identity at the first opportunity. Chloé, only partially understanding why she was rejected, tries to become nicer in the hopes that Pollen will change her mind. However she has a Jerkass Realization when Audrey arrives. In this continuity, Zoe comes with her, and Chloé witnesses how Audrey mistreats her. Chloé bonds with her sister and realizes that A: Chloé has been mistreating others in the same way that her mother does, and that B: nothing either Zoe or Chloé does will earn their mother's love or respect. After Audrey is akumatized into Style Queen, Zoe is endangered and Chloé risks her life to save her sister, finally becoming worthy of wielding the Bee Miraculous.
Adrien will visit Gabriel in prison to learn about the new Big Bad's motives.
Whether it's Mayura or another character entirely, Adrien might visit Gabriel, whether as himself or as Cat Noir, to try and discern their motives. Gabriel will be very cooperative, and see this as an opportunity to fix some of his mistakes, and repair his relationship with his son, and his insight proves to be mostly accurate to the villain's motives. Adrien will be more hesitant to do this, and initially be wary of Gabriel, but these interactions will gradually become warmer, until Adrien eventually fully forgives his father.
  • Alternatively, assuming that the fandom's general assumption is wrong and Adrien is still a sentibeing in this continuity, Gabriel might still try to omit certain parts of the truth on the basis that he doesn't think his son is ready for that particular revelation, and he's certainly not going to talk about it while under the scrutiny of the prison guards. This could lead to Adrien doubting that his father has truly changed and wondering if he can ever trust him again.
    • On the other hand, while Adrien would definitely be unhappy about Gabriel keeping this from him, he might eventually come to forgive his father, as he understands why he did it, although not before Calling the Old Man Out in spectacular fashion first.
