Homecoming: Morenatsu Revisited is a fan-made continuation of Morenatsu made by Stormsinger Studios. Originally titled, Morenatsu: Revisited, the game was originally going to give small write-ups to everyone's routes while also finishing up the three routes that were never completed by the original team, Torahiko, Kyouji, and Soutarou. After porting the original game to Ren'py, they ultimately decided to completely overhaul the writing and art and add a few new spin on certain events.

It starts out the same as the original, with Hiroyuki, now an arctic fox, getting an invite from Torahiko to visit for the summer. The protagonist being a fox now isn't the only thing that's changed, as some characters have gotten a different design or personality and there is now more of a focus on story than originally. Instead of choosing who to spend time with on a certain day, the game plays through the whole 24 hours of that date and now Hiroyuki can interact with anyone during the day if he follows the correct route.

The game is still in development, with Stormsinger Studios hoping to finish the game by the 2020 decade. It can be downloaded for Windows, Android, and Mac here.

NOTE: This is an ongoing project. Therefore, these pages will be periodically updated whenever a new version is available.

This game provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade:
    • Hiroyuki is given this, as it's shown how the move really affected him, with him outright admitting to hating his new home in Osaka. He is also given a father, who would usually come home drunk and proceed to be at least verbally abusive to the poor fox.
    • Kouya's struggles with his living conditions is made much more apparent here, as he tries to dodge any questions about what he's doing, even lashing out at Kyouji for putting the pieces together with what's going on.
    • Shun's problems with his family in the original game aren't brought up until his route begins. Here, it's shown that his family is pressuring him into becoming the next heir by making him do things he doesn't enjoy such as watching over the shrine or practicing for the Bon Festival. He's even shown getting into a fight with his dad about his responsibilities.
  • Adaptational Jerkass:
    • While Kouya was something of a rebel in the original, he was always shown to be level-headed and calm, with some of his mean comments being mostly light-hearted teasing. Here, due to his personal problems getting Foreshadowed, he is much more prone to violent outbursts and his rivalry with Torahiko is even more vicious, with them about to get into a fight, over the best flavor for steaks of all things.
    • Shun, though it's downplayed. While he is still one of the nicer main characters in the game and still a friendly individual, he is somewhat ruder to some of the characters whenever they get him mad, especially Torahiko and Kounosuke, though Tora sometimes has it coming. He is also shown to be much more competitive gaming wise and takes these challenges very seriously.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy:
    • Kouya, despite his rougher personality, does seem to worry more for others as well. For example, despite starting an argument with Torahiko in both games, here he tries to defuse Juuichi from hurting Tora any further, while in the original he just ignored it.
    • Juuichi, in the original his beatings of Tora were a bit rougher, but here he usually defuses the situation by just grabbing his tail, which while still painful, is safer than putting him in a chokehold.
  • Adaptation Dye-Job: Shin's fur is colored into a darker shade of purple compared to his original design. Earlier builds originally had his fur be completely black, reflecting on his earlier design where he was drawn with black fur.
  • Adaptation Expansion:
    • Due to the original game ending development before Torahiko, Kyouji, and Soutarou's routes were released, this game gives them more events that showcases them and what they do.
    • Originally, Hiroyuki acted as a stand-in for the player, complete with being able to be named differently. In Homecoming, he is now a fully named character with his own quirks and personality.
    • The game expands on the story for all the characters and even includes some new events, including a minigame with Kouya where Hiroyuki has to dance as the correct character for a children's play and Shun's game night where Hiroyuki, Torahiko, Tatsuki, Shin, and Soutarou all compete in a tabletop RPG with Shun as the Dungeon Master, with different outcomes depending on the choice given.
    • The beach event, in the original game, was originally one quick event with the chosen character. Here, while it's now automatic based on who has the most affinity with Hiroyuki, it now features more events for them and even has an extra scene with certain characters if their affinity was maxed out before that point. For example, Shin gets both his original beach event and Kounosuke's beach event combined for the day.
  • Adaptation Personality Change: Shun in the original was always shown to be rather young and innocent and would usually be used for more light-hearted comic relief. Here, his personality takes on a completely different turn, focusing more on his gamer aspect and being much more snarky in his dialogue. He even shows frustration over having his family forcing their traditions onto him, even calling out his father.
  • Adaptation Species Change: In Homecoming, Hiroyuki is now a snow fox rather than a human. In fact, there are no humans in this game with any pre-existing ones changed into beastmen. For example, Hiroyuki's grandparents became foxes as well, with his grandmother being a Kitsune and the Raimon owner is now a horse. The May 2022 update would add the option to change Hiroyuki and his family back into humans, but anyone not related to him remain beastmen, making him and his family Token Humans.
  • Age Lift: Every one is aged up to 18 at the youngest, notably Shun and Soutarou, who were both 16 and 15 respectively.
  • Apologizes a Lot: Rumiko, Soutarou's mother, is quite the apologetic woman. So much so that when Hiroyuki forgave her for almost accidentally running him over, she still continued up until they reached the Ooshima residence.
  • Ascended Extra:
    • In the Revisited version of the game, Ten Kodori was made a secret, romantic option for Hiroyuki. This was brought back as a bonus route in gallery mode for Homecoming. It is unlocked after getting Juuichi's bad ending in the main game.
    • Hiroyuki's grandparents, a minor footnote at best in the original, were given more interactions with Hiroyuki that shows how he truly feels around his family.
    • While Kenji has yet to appear in-game, the story does mention that he was one of the friends Hiroyuki hung out with before he moved, with his role now being filled in by Soutarou.
    • Pops, the owner of the Raimon, was a background character in the original game. In this game, he has a few more interactions, such as happily taking Hiroyuki's picture of him and his friends.
  • Berserk Button: Shun does not like being called a "Pipsqueak" due to how it reminds him of both his small height and being the youngest of the group, especially from Torahiko. When Tora called him this during a "Knightwatch" game, he lets the tiger open up a lone treasure test, knowing well that it was actually a mimic.
  • Bowdlerise: Shin's and Juuichi's possible rape scenes from the original game are significantly toned down to close calls instead should you choose the wrong options, with Hiroyuki being far more remorseful of his actions than before.
  • Cell Phones Are Useless: While some of the characters, like Torahiko and Kouya, now have cell phones, the reception in Minasato is still as bad as it once was. Averted in one instance where Hiroyuki decides to use his phone to take a picture of himself and the rest of the gang after the welcoming party is over.
  • Chest Monster: A Mimic appears as an enemy during the game of "Knightwatch" on Day 4. Most of the group already suspects that the lone chest is not safe, but Torahiko goes ahead and opens it anyway. After calling Shun "Pipsqueak", Shun, as the Dungeon Master, lets the tiger open it and proceed to watch him get mauled.
  • Disappeared Dad: It's revealed that Soutarou's dad died in a construction accident, which is why he and his mother moved to Minasato in the first place.
  • Fantasy-Forbidding Father: Yoshirou does not approve of Torahiko wanting to live his life the way he wants it, to the point where he dislikes Coach Nagano for putting unrealistic expectations of swimming in his son's head.
  • Guide Dang It!: At times. For example, to proceed with Kouya's route, you must perfectly complete the minigame on day 4.
  • Heinous Hyena: Ryota is a hyena debt collector that constantly threatens Soutarou's mother into giving him money, or else something happens. He and his gang would also appear near the end of Ten's route and attack Hiroyuki before Ten scares them off.
  • Jerkass Realization:
    • Hiroyuki realizes during his bus trip to Minasato that he probably should have thought of coming over earlier instead of waiting a whole five years to visit his friends again. He also has this realization when he realizes that as much as he loves his grandparents, he was effectively using them as living space just to see his friends again.
    • When Kouya insults Torahiko about his mother, even he's shocked at what he just said and issues a quick but sincere apology to Tora. Similarly, he states he would apologize to Kyouji later as well if Hiroyuki chooses to comfort him, after his outburst to the former.
  • Kishōtenketsu: The game is divided into four acts, with Acts 1 and 2 being titled "Reconnect" and "Here We Go Again" respectively while Acts 3 and 4 have no title. Act 1 focuses on introducing the characters and takes place from Hiroyuki's first day back at Minasato to before the beach trip. Act 2 takes place from the beach trip to the end of the camping trip and gives more insight to the cast. Act 3 is where Hiroyuki realizes his love for one of the characters and ends at the Bon Festival. Act 4 marks the final week and ends at the day of Hiroyuki's departure.
  • Missing Mom: If Kouya's harsh comment during his fight with Torahiko on Kyouji and Soutarou's Day 1 event is any indication, this is what happened to Tora's mother. Torahiko would reveal on his Day 15 event that his mother left him and his father shortly after his birth, so Tora doesn't even know her, which noticeably troubles him.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: If he ever comes close to possibly raping Juuichi or Shin, Hiroyuki will be completely horrified by his own actions.
  • Named by the Adaptation: In the original game, with some exceptions, none of the parents were named. Here they all have their own names and are listed in the game's credits.
  • Not So Stoic: Kyouji is shown to be calm and collected, being the Team Dad and voice of reason. However, when he finds out that Hiroyuki almost drowned during a bet with Torahiko and Tatsuki, he suddenly lashes out at the latter two for their decision, something that was never shown beforehand.
  • Original Character: Included in these versions are characters exclusive to them, Sayu, Kyouji's ex-girlfriend, Chiyo, Kyouji's younger sister, Haru, Yuuto, and Nagano, Torahiko's swimming buddies and swim teacher, Takeshi and Kazuo, Torahiko's uncles, and even most of their parents, such as Yoshirou, Torahiko's father, Ryo, Shun's father, and Rumiko, Soutarou's mother.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Torahiko's uncles fit this dynamic, with Kazuo, the blue, being more serious about keeping the Ooshima Inn afloat, and Takeshi, the red, being more laid back and friendly towards Hiroyuki.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Downplayed, but Torahiko will get pretty upset if you choose to sit with anybody but him at the welcoming party, especially if you take a seat next to Kouya.
