Welcome to Earth, fuckers. Got a visa?
Blue to the aliens

In the city of Las Divas, the Ragtag Bunch of Misfits band, Genokids, is having their best, most hype concert yet. Everyone's loving them, and they're loving their work. What could possibly go wrong?

...Aliens. Aliens could go wrong.

Suddenly, the Infinite Empire of Zenodia comes along and decides that humanity is only good for one thing: getting assimilated into the Empire itself. Thus, they begin their invasion... except they made the mistake of using the Genokids' stage as their parking lot. Now, armed with fancy instrument weapons and plenty of motivation, the band is ready to take down the aliens ravaging their homeworld.

Genokids is a Tag Team-based Stylish Action game developed by Spanish development group Nukefist. Taking inspiration from games such as Kingdom Hearts and Devil May Cry, you take control of the titular band as you go through several levels, taking down hordes of alien invaders along the way.

The playable characters include:

Genokids includes awesome tropes such as...

  • Action Bomb: The Smileys are enemies which's main combat tactic is approaching the player and going kaboom. Uniquely for this trope, this doesn't kill them... but this means they can let out a potentially infinite number of unblockable blue explosions, so taking them out as quickly as possible is still a priority.
  • Action Girl: Blue and Yellow are both ladies, and are capable of kicking just as much ass as Red and Green.
  • A Father to His Men: Mister Forced Peace is not only the leader of the invading Zenodian forces, but also their father figure, making him this by default.
  • Applied Phlebotinum: Motivation seems to be an actual tangible force in this universe, being the direct source of the Genokids' powers and being outright stated to be "mankind's greatest weapon".
  • Attack Drone: Green's synth becomes a pair of floating turret drones to assist in his mostly long-range playstyle.
  • BFS: The primary form of Blue's weaponized guitar is a sword large enough for her to lean her shoulder on after sticking it into the ground.
  • Big Bad: The Zenodian Prime, Mister Forced Peace.
  • The Determinator: The Genokids' abilities are quite literally powered by their sheer motivation, you don't get much more into this trope than that.
  • Ensemble Cast: It has been repeatedly stated by the developers that no single member of Genokids is the protagonist. The band as a whole is the protagonist.
  • Everyone Has a Special Move: The Genokids are further separated in their abilities via sets of 4 special moves per weapon, each of these special techniques consuming some portion of the flow gauge.
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: Each member of Genokids has a Color Motif. Which is also their name.
  • Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon: Though she doesn't appear in the current demo, Yellow's character description paints her as a manipulative and sadistic young woman who hides behind her innocent looks.
  • Gamer Chick: Blue is an avid gamer, and can even be seen pulling out a Nintendo Switch to play with in her taunt animation.
  • Hartman Hips: Blue has these, though moreso in the story illustrations, which particularly like to emphasize her thighs and rear.
  • Lightning Bruiser: You'd expect the wielder of a BFS like Blue's to be rather slow. But no, she's actually kind of a speed demon too.
  • Limit Break: Each character has that one flow special in each form of their weapon that consumes more flow than the rest, usually 4 bars. This attack is generally extraordinarily powerful and flashy, such as Blue's The End.
  • Long-Range Fighter: Green generally prefers to stay at a distance, floating around and pelting the enemies from afar with his floating turrets.
  • Morph Weapon: The weapons used by Genokids are actually their respective instruments transformed through the power of motivation. While they do have their standard forms, they can eventually be upgraded with secondary transformations with their own unique sets of unlockable skills.
  • Not Quite Flight: Green is capable of floating in combat, which certainly helps with his zoning-focused playstyle.
  • Power Fist: Red's main weapon is his drumset turned into a pair of gauntlets. Just like Yellow's hammer, they're outfitted with rocket boosters and even a flat-out Rocket Punch function.
  • Sinister Scythe: While Blue's weapon is normally a BFS, you can eventually unlock the ability to turn it into a scythe on command.
  • Super Mode: Once the hype gauge maxes out, the Genokids can enter Hyper Mode, which drastically improves their abilities while also making them look like Ghost Rider.
  • Unblockable Attack: Any enemy attack that is colored blue cannot be blocked, only completely avoided.
